Ask HMF anything

The other day when I logged in from work… usually, there’ll be a pop-up to enter your username and password, now it loads a log-in page. Before, it would go to the main index, but now it goes to the category index.

Site Feedback @wincenworks

It’s not a big deal. Just another click.

I never really got into Silent Hill, i was always more of a Resident Evil guy, but now, after seeing Silent Hill f and the first Silent being remade, it reminded me that i already own SH2 remake, but i havent played it yet.

Do i need to play SH1 to fully enjoy SH2? Or is it totally separate? Should i wait for SH1?

No. You don’t need to play 1 first. There are references to 1 in 2 but 2 is a self contained story. The games obviously share location. Silent Hill 3 is a direct sequel to 1 though.

No need to wait.

Alright, thank you. I remember my older brother playing SH1 on the Playstation when i was a Kid and i remember how realistic and beautiful that cop lady looked in the Cutscenes back then. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Another thing.
In SH2 remake, you’ll come across many flashbacks where you get a prompt to press it and the camera zooms out with a short musical phrase. These are just fan service of small throwbacks to the original and serves no other purpose than to make returning players go “how neat”.

Just a heads up 'cus I could see how these would make new players a little confused lol.

There’s as many theories to the story as there are players. If you feel completely lost about the story at any point, feel free to ask! I love to talk about this game and what everything in it means. No spoilers of course.

Are you playing with German voices? If so, how are they?

I’m playing with German sub and English voice acting

I set up a configuration to stay logged in so I didn’t have to log in or anything. In your profile preferences you can change the starting page if you don’t wanna see the categories.

With it being at my work (on a “company computer” as it were), I can’t stay logged in (I use incognito mode). But I’ll look into the starting page.

I don’t log out from my computer at home or on my phone, and I always see the main index when using those devices.

Edit: I can’t seem to find anything about a starting page.

Life is all about perspective, and so is gaming - what do you prefer?

  • First Person
  • Third Person

For me, its third person all the way, first person always turns me off a bit - thats actually the reason why I haven’t bothered with cyberpunk at all

Depends on the game and how good the devs implement movement and animations in 1st and 3rd person games.

The thing that made me fall in love with H2:SA when first playing it was 47’s slick animations. There weren’t many 3rd person games that I played during that time, mostly GTAs, so the differences were night and day.

When it comes to 1st person games, I will always mention Far Cry 2 because of its great animations, movement and camera control. There’s even a video that talks about this

I prefer third person, but that’s only because i have severe trauma from the first person platforming in Destiny 2. It gives me such bad anxiety. I hate it so much.

Do schools in your country also look like prisons?

I heard there’s a game in some places of the USA where kids and people guess wheter a building is a school or a prision.
My current school looks a lot like a prision, and to worsen things, both on the outside and inside. What about your schools?

Not really here, no. Some schools are a bit bleak looking, but I think the easily escapable walls and fences would give it away.

I think anyone who plays that game has probably never been to gaol. Prisons have high walls, barbed wire on the top of the fences, and guard towers high in the sky, and no or very slim windows.

Newer build US schools have some security built in like heavy security doors, but none of those other things.

Yet…

My brain shut off for a second there and thought all four of those were schools
Mine looked a bit like the second image (goes a little inwards from the road). Can’t say it looked very prisony thankfully
