You can just call me Nicely Nicely Johnson.
And Iām Thor Buttockth.
I know they happen to be bad, but Iād to see how IO handles a game where they happen to be good. I remember killing Joseph Clarence and feeling like a piece of shit, same goes for Klaas Teller, Rick Henderson and the Priest unfortunate to be the one to oversee 47ās funeral. There are a few more but I canāt place them. Dino Bosco was another. The guy was a massive shit-lord but definitely didnāt deserve to die. Iām all up for killing bad people, but Iām wondering how long the other side of a contract killerās life wherein anybody is fair game if the price is right can be ignored.
Anyway. Has anyone figured out how to poison the IV drip, have the orange jumpsuit test subject remember what Hush has done to him, and therefore coerce him to kill Hush upon his visit after sabotaging the pods? No? Didnāt think so. Chongqing fucking hates us.
My guess on why Chongqing is such a letdown is because of the cramped design and the lack of interiors in the city center area. The main focus of the mission is the block and the ica facility, everything in between seems to be forgotten. Whereas Sapienza, Mumbai and even Colombia had resident houses/apartments you could enter, Chongqing has only two. One of which purely designed to serve a small role in one of the mission stories. Same goes for the restaurant and laundromat joint. It might be vile to say this but Chongqing is suffering from lazier design. The playable area is surrounded by buildings and shops but near none are interactable. I would argue stuff like this is needed to make a map feel alive. Youād get a sense of what goes around in the lives of the civillians who live in this huge city. Give the player some context to what is playing out behind the scenes of this neon lit colorfull place that is Chongqing.
For this to work, the mission shouldāve taken place in the late evening instead of midnight. The only way to give this map some redemption is to make a bonus mission at daytime and have the design team add a lot of interiors.
And more people. Lots more people. As the largest metropolitan area in China, I expected something closer to Mumbai, so if they redo a daytime Chongqing, Iām gonna want crowds.
Iām curious to know what the regional demographic is between those who like and those who dislike the level. I technically live in a city, but on the very edge where thereās a dairy farm down the street. I think Chongqing is populated enough. Mumbai just makes be uncomfortable since there are TOO many people on the map (even if a lot of them are fake).
Do the people who dislike Chongqing for itās low population tend to live in cities themselves? Do those that like it for being sparse also live in sparse areas themselves? Curious.
Good points yep. I donāt think it was lazy design however, I think the pandemic really got in the way of H3 being what it was supposed to be. You can tell that Chongqing was supposed to have so much more to it. The pod rooms, Louyang and the meaningless yet interactable IV unit, the noodle restaurantās upper floors being inaccessible, the restricted train station, the drones being a unique concept yet we canāt hack and pilot them, Hushās satellite felt like a mission story that wasnāt able to be finished, the implants in Hush and Royceās heads not being able to be short-circuited. Things like that.
As for it feeling empty, I do hope we get a (well-thought-out) bonus map. Personally I would have it occur during a sun shower. Close off access to the ICA facility and turn the once condemned block into a Kunqu theater. We have yet to get a throwback to an opera house level. Give me that over a snow map any day of the week.
I live in a city and certain parts that would otherwise be jam-packed are dead at midnight. Probably why the emptiness never got to me. But then again, it is China.
I canāt speak to China in pretty much any way, but the city that I live in is never all that busy, even when it is ābusyā. Of course itās so hot here most of the time that people donāt want to be out and about. I suppose itās busier and there are more people out during the winter though. I go downtown very rarely.
I like the emptiness. I think that has more to do with being an introvert than where I live. (Though I did grow up in the sticks so⦠)
That and Iāve always liked normally crowded places during the quiet, off hours. (I used to go into school with my father a good hour before other students would show up. It was peaceful.)
Thats cause its a reused miami asset
There are other IV units in the map, I find it suspicious that they cannot be interacted with yet the one beside the unique NPC is. I refuse to believe Iāve been betrayed by an IV unit.
Youāre too skinny Chongqing, you need to pack on some muscle!
It is important to recognize this map for what it is. This is not a classic ācityā map like Mumbai or Sapienza. It is designed around two āfortressesā with multiple ways to get in or out and a handful of triggers to manipulate both targetsā routes. You may not like the city area being underused from an esthetical standpoint, but gameplay-wise, this map is pretty good.
itās like a clone of sapienza
- civilian area on the surface
- apartments and shops you can go into
- an underground lab with an objective to complete
- mission stories that involve manipulating a targetās mind and one that gets both targets to be blown up
- the lab area is secret so the workers sneak in via hidden pathways
- targets arent in the civilian areas but instead a separate building
- a restaurant area where you get a disguise to take you into the building
and marrakesh
- two disparate fortresses
- one is an office of sorts
- the other is an abandoned building refitted for a sinister purpose
mixed with isle of sgail
- highly vertical
- targets that dont take advantage of the level design
- narrow at the top
- mix of ruined buildings and high technology in the aesthetic
- secret passages to get up and down easier
whereas we were wanting a mumbai 2.0 with maybe more of a miami style approach to targets
Chongqing could be easily the Best map in the trilogy like Sapienza, if the map create bigger and more population, with more traditional mission, like was in Old hitman.
But i always think and always will think
Chongqing disapointed and Wasted with alot of potential
Something Missing
I think Hokkaido very unique and beautiful but if more snow outside and a one traditional building japanese could be better to make it bigger
But Chonqing even more wasted for me the street very deadly with a lot of potential, what Hokkaido for me used better with his tools.
Do the Absolution and Blood Money suits have code to make them wet?
