Title: The Instigator
Target and Objectives:
Eliminate Ghon Jun
Eliminate the Target in an Accident or with Poison
Location: Miami, USA (The Finish Line)
Briefing:
âGood morning, 47. Your target is Ghon Jun, Khandan Major and little-known war criminal.â
âA loyal enforcer of Jin Poâs despotic regime, Jun is no stranger to putting his duty to the Heavenly Leader above all else - regardless of how many lives are lost in the process.â
âDevoted and deranged, Jun has long been suspected of being responsible for countless war crimes across Khandanyang, from public executions to civilian massacres. Wherever he travels, atrocity is soon to follow.â
âRecent intel suggests that Jun was the commanding officer behind the recent Tungan Valley Incident, placing the detonator in his own hands. Though hardly his most deadly campaign, the incident has nonetheless caused outrage and condemnation across the world, especially due to its use of next-gen military hardware.â
âWe have managed to track his whereabouts to the Global Innovation Race in Miami, where we believe he will meet with Robert Knox, in an attempt to repay him for the weapons he used in Tungan Valley. We have been hired to stop this deal. In order to prevent Po from retaliating and causing an international incident, we have been tasked with ensuring Junâs death is seen as an accident.â
âIt bears repeating that Jun is highly-skilled in combat and will likely be armed at the event today.â
âBe careful, 47.â
Appearance:
Ghon Jun has a grisled expression and near-black hair cut short into a no-nonsense style. He wears a dark-grey trench coat, over a white dress shirt with a dark blue neckerchief (similar to Jin Nooâs), black dress trousers and black combat boots. His model is slightly taller than most NPCs as well as appearing slightly more muscular. He wears black gloves and has a scar running down his left cheek.
Route:
This mission takes place on the main version of Miami, âThe Finish Lineâ. Jun has one Kronstadt bodyguard, assigned to him by Knox. While most of the level remains the same, Knox will spend most of his time walking between the Conference Room and the overlooking the Expo Room, where a large group of reporters have gathered.
As mentioned in the briefing, Jun is highly skilled in combat as well as being armed with a silenced pistol. If he detects 47, he will let nearby guards attack 47 first before engaging in a shootout himself, during which he will continually try to flank 47. Fake surrendering will not affect him and he will just shoot 47 in cold-blood. Similar to most guards, attacking him from the front will engage a QTE to knock him down before engaging another to fully knock him out. These QTEs also have a shorter window than the regular ones. Trying to subdue Jun from behind will also prove difficult as he will attempt to fight back and if 47 does not fully subdue him within a set amount of time, Jun will break free and open fire on 47. Attacking Jun with a non-lethal melee item will also trigger a short QTE (though this will not be overheard like normal combat and Jun will not compromise 47); attacking him with a syringe will also trigger this. The only way to reliably pacify Jun is to throw an item at him.
Jun starts off on the upper floor of the Kronstadt Paddock, where there is one additional guard inside and one patrolling the back of the Paddock. He will sit at the table for a short while before pacing back and forth across the room.
After about two minutes, he will receive a phone call from Knox saying that reporters have been harassing him about the incident so he is running late. If the radio is turned on during this phone-call, Jun will get frustrated from the noise and storm out to the balcony to continue it outside (where a loose light-fixture can be shot down onto him).
After this phone-call, he will return to the Paddock and stand overlooking the VIP area, where he will snidely comment about âthe stupid flocksâ. If his guards are distracted or pacified, he can be pushed over this balcony, although the patrolling guards will make this difficult.
He will then stand in front of the TVs and change the channel to the news (which reports on the Tungan Valley Incident), which will spark a short outburst of annoyance from one of the guards - which Jun puts down with a solemn glare. He will then get frustrated by the newsâ âWestern biasâ and claim âthey donât understand the threat they posed to the Heavenly Leaderâ.
He will then return to sit at the table, where his route will repeat unless the player intervenes.
There are two ways to change Junâs route: by making him meet with Sierra or with Robert.
Meeting with Sierra:
If the race is sped up or Sierra loses and heads to the Paddock, she will run into Jun at the Paddock and will promptly ask who he is and what heâs doing in her Paddock, to which he will respond âa friend of her fatherâsâ. Sierra will then realise who he is and dismiss her bodyguard (who will go downstairs) before sitting down at the table opposite Jun.
They will then have a brief conversation in which Jun remarks that the weapon surpassed his every expectation and that heâs interested in seeing what else they have. His tone is sadistic, yet soothing. He also strokes Sierraâs ego by calling her a genius, in an attempt to goad information out of her. Sierra will then take a drink and offer one to Jun (which he rejects) and reveals that thereâs been a situation and that some evidence has found its way into the wrong hands, but sheâs already got it covered. Jun will then bluntly state that heâll accompany her, wanting to make doubly sure there are no further issues.
47 can then trigger the âPretty in Pinkâ Mission Story in order to make both Sierra and Jun meet with the Blackmailer or a disguised 47, where the opportunity will continue as normal except with Jun following behind Sierra and a few altered voicelines. Similarly to the main mission, what occurs next depends on whether or not 47 is disguised as the Blackmailer.
If 47 is disguised, they will be prompted to give Sierra the documents. Failure to do so will result in Jun getting frustrated and killing 47 where he stands. Once Sierra receives the documents and the guards leave, Jun will take hold of them and look over them before handing them back to Sierra and she will burn them over the elevator as normal before telling the Blackmailer to leave the country and never return. Jun, however, will grab 47 from behind and attempt to strangle him (engaging another QTE) to silence the leak for good. Failing this QTE will result in 47âs death and a mission failure, whereas succeeding will cause 47 to knock-out Jun and Sierra to call her guards. Alternatively, if Sierra is pacified while burning the documents, Jun will attempt to rush 47 without calling the guards (engaging another QTE), succeeding in which will cause 47 to throw Jun down the elevator shaft, killing him. Additionally, there is a bag of bricks above where Jun stands that can be dropped without alerting Sierra or the van can be blown up for an explosive accident (though these may require some set up beforehand).
If the real Blackmailer attends the meeting, Jun will be the one to strangle the Blackmailer before throwing his body into the elevator shaft. If 47 hides in the shaft beforehand, he can pull Jun down into the shaft when he does so. Alternatively, he can use the bag of bricks or van, in which the Blackmailer will use this as an opportunity to escape.
If Jun is killed during these meetings without Sierra being pacified or eliminated, for example by using the bricks, she will go into a short lockdown before returning to her route. Alternatively, if Jun survives the meeting, he will return to his cycle inside the Paddock.
If the meeting is triggered before Sierra and Jun meet, they will meet first before heading to the meeting. Alternatively, if Sierra wins the race, this opportunity will not be able to be triggered.
Meeting with Robert:
There are two ways to get Jun to meet with Robert, either by personally escorting him (while disguised as a Kronstadt Security) or by disposing of the Reporters in the Expo Room (which caused Knox to call Jun himself).
The opportunity to escort Jun is revealed by examining the planned route inside the Centreâs Conference Room which 47 will then guide Jun through alongside his other bodyguard. This route goes around the back of the Paddock, into the Parking Garage and then up through the spiral staircase (opposite the Aquarium) and into the Conference Room, where Knox will remark that he wasnât expecting him yet.
Alternatively, 47 can dispose of the reporters and cause Robert to initiate the meeting himself (Jun will follow the same route as above). This can be done by triggering the fire-alarm inside the Expo Room (after the situation calms down, security will refuse to let reporters back into the building), knocking out the main three reporters or by poisoning them all with beverages (a refreshments stand has been opened inside the Expo Room where the Waiter disguise can serve drinks).
Once the meeting is started, the Conference Room will be cleared of everyone except Robert, Jun and a handful of bodyguards. They will then discuss the terms of their deal, where Jun will offer a large sum of Khandan-minted gold in return for access to more weaponry. Knox will argue that they will supply more weapons, but later down the line when Kronstadt is not under as much public scrutiny. Although Jun is clearly annoyed by this answer, he accepts. Knox and Jun will then toast with a glass of Soju to the partnership.
Jun will then head out to the balcony, without any guards (though the balcony entrances will be guarded) to relay a message of the deal (this will not fail the mission as when Jun is killed the deal will be invalidated), before being escorted around by Robert.
Robert and Jun will then walk to the Android Showroom, where Robert will demonstrate PALLAS in front of Jun who will be very impressed and remark that there are quite a few rebels heâd be willing to offer as target practice to improve the robot. Knox will then briefly take a call on the balcony while Jun talks to one of the Researchers about the Robot. It is possible, though difficult, to use the camera to take a photograph of Jun and scan it into the Android for an accident kill.
They will then continue to the Android Lab where there are a variety of prototype weapons on display. Knox will invite Jun to test one of them on an Android (to demonstrate the toughness of its armour) which he does glady. This prototype can be tampered with (using a screwdriver) to explode in Junâs hand and kill him (though the Researchers and Security in the room will make this difficult). The small office to the right of this room has been converted into a small shooting range for this.
Knox will then lead Jun upstairs to his office, where he will show Jun the schematics for some of their other prototypes of a more efficient drone. An outlet and a water cooler can be sabotaged for an electrocution accident. Jun will then remark that he is very impressed by this technology and states that âthe Heavenly Leader will be pleased with the partnershipâ.
They will then part ways, Jun wandering between the Conference Room balcony, Android Showroom, Android Lab and Robertâs Office for a few cycles before exiting the level via the Helipad, while Robert will wander around the top floor of the Centre.
If Robert sees Jun die in an accident, he will go to his office and pace back and forth trying to figure out how to explain this to Jin Po.
Secret Opportunity:
If the meeting with Sierra is completed before Jun meets with Robert, there is an alternative opportunity that can be used. Completed in this order, Jun will mention the leak to Robert during their meeting (after they toast) which he will be shocked by and furiously call Sierra who will then meet them on the balcony outside the Conference Room. Shortly before Sierra arrives, Jun will begin berating Robert about how careless he was about hiding Kronstadtâs involvement, saying that âthe Heavenly Leader wouldnât have had to stoop to take the blame if they had done their job correctlyâ. Sierra will then arrive, realise what has happened and attempt to explain her actions. Jun, however, will then point the blame at Sierra citing her cover-up of the leak as incompetence that could have buried their company and caused a threat to Khandanyang, which he cannot stand for. He will then threaten them that if they go back on this deal, then the Heavenly Guard will hunt them down and bring their heads to the Heavenly Leader. Infuriated by her loss, Junâs insults and threats towards her father, Sierra will push Jun over the balcony in a fit of rage.
Robert will then reprimand her for this and tells her to stay put while he attempts to figure out how they will explain this to Jin Po.
