The steam update is out now prepping for cross-progression. It is 11mb and i presume it just turns off steam cloud saves or something like that as other platforms won’t be getting an update.
Disabling cloud saves is not the right path to go
please ioi do not disable cloud saves ![]()
Am I missing something obvious? Whats wrong with disabling cloud saves on Steam since progression is all on IO’s servers anyway?
I guess you ignored the players who don’t link to IOI Account.
Your progression is on the servers even without an IO account.
The only way its not on the servers is if you only play in offline mode - in which case, you have no progression.
Oh, that makes sense. But the truth is, WOA does have Steam cloud saves (EGS is the same)
.The game has always been a networked stand-alone game. That’s why most player want offline mode. But IOI seems to have had no intention of doing so.
@IOI_Artjoms Any word on whether cross-progression will enable the additional platform suits (The Black/Blue/Green/Black Turtle Streak suits) being added to the primary account when launching the game on another platform?
They’re not a DLC, they’re just something that turns up on your server profile when you first launch the game - so the FAQs don’t answer this one. ![]()
That seems like a giant missed opportunity to get the suits out to other platforms easily.
Enable cross-progression, launch the game on an alternate platform, connect to the servers, game pings out a signal to say “hey, put this specific suit in the inventory since they clearly own it there”, done.
The suits will already been in every game build (since Peacock enables the other suits on PC with no issues), so thats not the issue either.
Personally I’d rather they did a much more accessible way to give everyone the relevant suits. Even if cross progression allowed it people would need to own the full game on 4 different platforms (5 if we throw the Switch 2 stuff in).
Having challenges to unlock them like they did for the Stadia items is a much better method
Its only 3. ![]()
The Switch 2 stuff is DLC so it wouldn’t transfer with cross-progression - probably will be another $5 DLC on other platforms at some point. The iOS suit, unlike the original Black/Blue/Green Streak suits which require WoA Standard, doesn’t require you to buy anything - the Black Turtle Streak shows up in your inventory on iOS with just the free download.
They are. I looked at my extracted player profile and it did send something off when the game was first connected to the servers:
Which then added it into the inventory section:
After I installed the game on iOS, I extracted that profile too and it did the same thing. So seems odd this wouldn’t also get triggered if you launched the game with cross-progression turned on… ![]()
But Arti has ruled it out as working, so they’ve nerfed it or something.
Seeing as they have a way to input codes and link profiles (regardless of if you have Hitman on said profile), I do feel at best they could incorporate it this way some how where you can access suits of other platforms. Even if it can’t be cross-progressed, I don’t see why these couldn’t be accessed in a different way that still encourages people to create and link accounts to their IOI account. Like linking your PSN to IOI could unlock the Blue Streak Suit as a reward, etc.
Maybe there’s some reason they’re not able to add these across platforms though. Stadia was only added because Stadia was shut down and it couldn’t be accessed otherwise? But then that doesn’t explain the Black Winter Suit and other items… Sigh, hard to figure IOI out with this. Though to their credit, they did just recently add the Solstice suit. So maybe in time we’ll see others.
People would just create dummy accounts for the platform and link them to get the suit, which does nothing for IO. Enabling them with cross-progression gives IO something because the game has been purchased (iOS excluded).
They should just include them as challenge unlocks
Problem with that is that it’ll generate confusion as each platform would have different unlocks on the challenges because everyone already has one suit and doesn’t need to unlock it again - or each platform has a “missing” challenge.
You could just have one challenge pack that unlocks everything, it’s possible to have one challenge unlock multiple things (deluxe escalation challenges) and it’s possible to unlock something again and again with no downside (celebrity ET suit rewards)
I agree with this opinion.
It benefits IO Interactive for users to own HITMAN across multiple platforms, and it makes sense for users to earn the right to freely wear platform suits as a reward for their purchase.
An easier way would just be to not have exclusive content to begin with and make everything available on every platform so players don’t have to be buying all different kinds of the same shit in order to have everything, but I might as well wish for a pez dispenser that gives infinite full-sized chocolate chip cookies as long as I’m wishing for unrealistic things.
