Cut content from the 2016 Alpha

Charitably, I don’t think it’s intentional - I think they genuinely forgot that they already had a design for him. That photo is never identified in game as Yates, only in the game files. They also give the name of Ether’s CEO as Neleis de Waal rather than Yeung Soo Park, which backs up the theory that a lot of these were forgotten

Then again, they DID have Raoul Salazar appear in Mendoza despite never being mentioned or named anywhere else as far as I’m aware, so who knows?

I want so badly to make a mod that gives him (and Salazar) character models that actually match the bunker wall. I’ll get to it one of these days :p

That was one of the earliest issues submitted to UCP, actually. Unfortunately, at the time I didn’t quite have the skills to manage it

There is also Terry Rutherford in Paris:

The model used by the picture is actually used by one of the consulate workers in Marrakesh:

There’s very likely a bunch of characters like that :stuck_out_tongue: (we already know of Thomas Cross for example)

Actually that’s Sir Humphrey Titus Rutherford III :nerd:

Yeah, there are other recognizable character parts on there too. Alma Hagen’s cardigan (?) is the same as the Warlord’s, and Raoul Salazar’s face I’ve definitely seen before. One of the church staff, or a consulate worker, I think?

“The Gatekeeper” looks familiar too, I bet he’s probably in the game somewhere…

Even The Herald has a model that only IO fully has, we only have/had some textures variants (shirt from bodyguard in Alpha and pants from Sheik), had to recolor them manually to match how it might actually look on him

Well yeah but the joke was that that’s Arthur Edwards, who is definitely in the game since he’s one of the main characters :p

There are dialogues between Silvio and his “older brother” (called Antonio) which seems to tell that the coffin found in the dining room is Isabella’s

Also even though the TTS briefing calls the target (the sheik character) “Maximillian Krycek”, the name of that character in the files is “Sullivan Roth”

You have to kill the target and all the guards (15), you fail if the target escapes, if the guards reach your tower or if you run out of time

You can hide the guards in bushes or in the pool, and the target escapes on a boat at the pier (the one where Francesca meets with the detective) so you have enough time to kill him before it happens

just revisiting this site and saw this thread.
do we ever know what happened to that level with the photographer in one of the first trailers? that looked like a pretty good location.

Oh boy, that E3 trailer. Kinda crazy to think it’s gonna turn 10 years old in June.

I think the general consensus is that it eventually became Haven Island.

He was meant to be Jordan Cross I think.

What I want to know is:

Who is the target in the Sniper Challenge mission?

Who is ‘The Asset’ as seen in the main menu

And is the phone-call dialogue of the female NPC in Paris in the final game?

They pretty much had the first 3 locations always planned and it shows from this trailer (showcasing early design of Novikov, Caruso and Strandberg)
but since Bangkok is heavily repurposing Paris assets (though Sapienza is somewhat doing that too)
it could be they only had a general idea of what they wanted for the other 3 but only too late compared to the E3 trailer so they weren’t shown here, same can be said for Colorado’s first iteration (though that probably wouldn’t have been included either way because it might’ve been too spoilery) and Hokkaido
(as of July 2015 those levels were only blockouts of the level layout, even Yuki Yamazaki at this stage was named “Ayato” Yamazaki so clearly even the targets weren’t finalized)

We can only guess the photographer was an early idea that turned into Jordan Cross but we have no proof or dev commentary on the subject (afaik)

Well as explained he was probably Sullivan Roth at first then Maximillian Krycek (not sure of the purpose of the mission however)

“The Asset” is just another playable character, IO had in mind that you would be able to play as 3 possible character: (obviously) Agent 47, another male agent (The Asset) and a female agent
(if you dig into the Alpha files you’ll see that “HeroA” outfits are all 47’s, while there exists some placeholder “HeroB” and “HeroC” ones), these were very clearly made into Stone and Knight, even more evident by the fact IO probably prototyped a gamemode with the characters being able to roam around levels like 47 (we have images of them wearing casual and formal outfits)

Though in the Alpha the other agent is tied to “Secret War”, we don’t know exactly what it means, we can find text in the files mentioning “Story Missions” and “Asset Missions” but no info on what they are (probably just “side” missions, maybe Landslide and The Icon were meant to be played as the other agent(s) and not 47 :man_shrugging:)

We know they had a whole lot planned for Hitman 2016 especially on the online side of things so it could be part of that too

I’m not sure what that’s about?

I heard mentions of a scrapped playable character under the name ‘Stone’ before. Was ‘The Asset’ Stone?

And the female NPC dialogue in Paris happens near the Sanguine bar and in-between the bathroom hall. Y’know the hallway in the final game where Valerie St. Claire and her colleague Lisa have their conversation? Its very ‘hard’ to get it to play for some reason but she mentions a character that I’m unsure if is in the final game.

I just wonder if there’s any other cut characters in the build like Jim Rhodes for example lol.

“I’m a genetically engineered killing machine. WHAT?”

Well “The Asset” character (HeroB in the files) is a black man so it’s easy to assume he is the foundation for Agent Stone, same for the female agent apparently named “The Operative” later becoming Knight concept art by Simon Lindwall

One other question
So in the leak of Silent War, specifically the early ‘World of Tomorrow’
An NPC walking around the map can be found using Curtis Campana’s NPC model from Absolution. Does he have a nickname or unused name/purpose? I mention this because no other NPC in any other mission uses his placeholder model or uses his pathfinding.

I hope I’m not overthinking this lol.

I think that is just supposed to be the detective

The Detective? I don’t think so.
