yeah… im thinking something like the bar area of the train. that section could easily contain some NPCs and 47 bartending
You can’t beat past Hitman games nostalgia
I love it when IOI throw references to past Hitman games, especially with these rewards in this Escalation which is a throw back to Silent Assassin.
Level 3 ended up being too easy, but appropriate as a silent ninja mission. Should’ve been level 2, though.
Now, level 2 I loved it. The blade hunger complication was amazing. Deadly ninja all over the place. I actually had to replay a bunch of times because I kept failing the final reinforced guards.
Also, I kind of love the big “shove it” from IOI to Silent Assassin hopefuls. Try getting SA on that
I played this one first because I was curious about how a ninja sniper mission on a train would play out, and it turned out to be a lot of fun.
Not being able to get SA on level 2 hurts my OCD very hard. I would even have been willing to pacify the entire map and drag the knocked-out target all the way back to the starting cart, but you have to pick up the katana just to be allowed to jump down.
That said, I’m curious to see the route of people who get a score above 0.
@Pagan we have exactly the same score, 203.868
Where did they appear before in the trilogy? I´m sure I´ve heard them, but I can´t place them… (or was it just my imagination and it just reminded me of a different game?)
Edit: Now that I think of it, it´s probably the latter. The sound is very similar to that of the runes in Dishonored
So, from what I’ve gathered around here, the White Ninja costume has similar issues with maps like the Hitman 2 Buccaneer suit. Right?
Can’t wait until the first person finds an exploit that lets him/her finish the second level while maintaining SA. You know it’s going to happen.
I can’t wait for that
I really liked this escalation. when H’16 came out it really felt like escalations were the most wtf content to me. H2 made them really good, and started having things like the suave suit unlock out of them. It’s interesting to see them become the bread and butter of the content Io is focusing on now, while ETs have been falling by the wayside.
This one feels like what an escalation should be, each level very different than the other, and while some might not like that, I wasn’t really a huge fan of “Do the same thing you just did, but now you kill this extra guy! Ok do that all again but this time with only a KNIFE!”
When I got to level 2 and I saw the sword right there I was like 'Oh I guess it’s right there I’ll just pick it [THE BLADE HUNGERS] Oh fuck I guess I’ll kill everyone now…"
I apologized after every throat slit, but when the blade hungers, what can you do?
Level 2 completely confused me at first, because I kept trying to figure out a way to get to the end of the train in 20 seconds and that seemed impossible. I kept thinking I missed a secret shortcut somewhere. It was only after checking here that I realized SA wasn’t intended to be possible for Level 2.
I’m not sure what IOI was thinking here - there’s only been one other instance I can recall of IOI releasing an Escalation where SA was impossible. That was in the 2016 game in Marrakesh. I don’t remember all the details right now, but I remember there was an Escalation where you couldn’t pacify anyone but you needed the masseuse disguise, so you needed to kill him to get it, thereby voiding SA. IOI eventually fixed that by adding a special extra masseuse outfit in the basement so that SA was possible.
they were thinking “we should make an escalation where nobody can get SA” i think. just a guess though
I guess. Implementing SA in Level 2 would be easily possible, though. Just make all the guards registered targets. Or at least key guards that would be possible to kill within 20 seconds of each other. As it stands, this Escalation is the only one of its kind where SA is impossible, and that slightly bothers me…
I think some portion of the fanbase is very focused on SA being the only way to play “right” but I don’t think IOI need to cater to that portion 100% of the time. Enjoy the variety!
Anyway, as a stealth focused player I loved this escalation. A bit easy of course, but the level kinda makes that a given. It was still super fun to sneak around cutting everybody up, and then having to do a ghost run like you do for achievements in Deus Ex or something. I had a great time, I just wish the outfit made sense for any map! Haha.
Really? Like the no trespassing perk? Do you know what map or what area?
I wish the ‘silent kill’ animation didn’t take 3 seconds. Most of my level 2 fails have been as I watch the body fall towards 47, after fully stabbing and removing the blade.
It’s a fun escalation, and definitely feels unique, though. I hope they do more like this, even after the Deluxe period ends.
Do frontal kills, they are much faster.
Yep! Finding a balance between stealth and speed was basically what I needed to do. Appreciate the tip.
Did this Escalation yesterday. Was way too easy for my taste. Got the first two on my first try, the third one on my second run. A little bit disappointed.
I can’t finish the second level of escalation because it’s not registering kills immediately. Internet speed is good, server isn’t down so obviously it’s some other problem. Based on that alone, I don’t like this escalation
