I actually like having only three “mission stories.” I never liked the guidance aspect of them, but if you turn off the guidance completely you often don’t unlock them for whatever reason. So it’s nice to have to use the guided path less often.
Ok, JFC, has anyone found actual safety deposit keys? The only way to open the atrium boxes is with a lockpick. I haven’t found anyone with keys.
There are some unlock prompts that don’t have corresponding keys. If you try to unlock it and your only two options are a crowbar or a lock pick, then they don’t have keys.
Crowbar does not work on those for some reason. IIRC they don’t work in New York either.
I’m probably super late, but it does work while dressed as Kazim. Walk outside and lean over the safe spot of the balcony, and Ingram will follow suit.
Something about this level reminds me of “You Better Watch Out” from HITMAN: BLOOD MONEY, particularly how the Sheik’s party and Ingram’s apartment feel like they have a hard cut off just like the party and the studio in “You Better Watch Out” complete with reclusive older second target.
Also the high altitude.
Except you used an elevator to get there in Blood Money. Lol
Yeah. My other thought is that the alternate name for the Burj map is “Super Hokkaido”. The pentagon like orientation with some verticality, and the fact you can trap yourself out of certain paths when you are missing the means to electronically open a door as you walk past with no ability to jam the doors open.
The only thing I dislike at all about Dubai is the suit. That boring gray nonsense. Had to head canon that 47 just grabbed whatever was closest after getting rid of the skydiving kit
Just saying, I love a tough woman who knows her power, but she’s not the member of that family I would pursue.
If I had to pick a favorite from 3 alone, it would be berlin. It fits the story really well. Won’t say more because I don’t want to spoil story, but it has a solid look, and a good reason behind it.
Favorite starting suit overall? Sgail, followed by Paris, then Hokkaido
If the ornate scimitar wasn’t an unlockable, it’d be a neat weapon to require for a contract.
First playthrough and I’m huge disappointed. Dubai is like Bangkok 2.0 - full of empty rooms, tons of recycled assets. It’s look like a combination of Bangkok and Paris. Paris and Nightfall as opening locations was impressive, but Dubai for me is a big letdown.
My first impressions from immersion perspective
- no even one arabic accents in muslim country
- catholic choir from radio in muslim country!!! WTF!
- guards with dialogues and sentences from H1
- waiters and technicans which have re-coloured outfits from Paris
- recycled music in bar from Marrakesh
- almost no CCTV in high-profile building with full of VIPs
- empty rooms and halls
- very easy even on high difficulty
- when you start level from reception - game start with exacly that same tune like in Paris
I don’t have yet impressions from gameplay perspective because it was my first run. But from immersion side - very poor level. I had feeling that is a low-budged DLC. Need to play more because challanges and opportunities looks quite good.
I understand that Dubai is a hub for foreigners and this is a multicultural inauguration. I would not mind that all guest speak with british and american accents - its acceptable, but ALL guards and staff should have native arabic accent! I’m so mad that IOI done that poorly. I know that next levels are much better, but Dubai… it’s looks like cutted from H1 2016.
Immersion: 4/10
Gameplay: Not ranked yet
I mean the accent thing is an issue with the whole series, it’s not gonna change at the end. I agree Dubai feels like one of the hotels we had before. Other than the lobby it’s pretty meh for me. Still enjoyable, but worst of the core 5 maps.
I’d personally rank it above Dartmoor and Chongqing.
The difference is that unlike Bangkok, Dubai is actually well-designed and much more fluid and fun to navigate. I agree that it could do better on the immersion part (and unique kill opportunities), but condemning it solely based on that feels harsh and premature. I enjoy it, but it´s of course a matter of everyone´s personal taste and preferences.
Something about the layout of Dubai and how it uses its verticality (climbing up elevator shafts and along the outside of the building) really clicks for me in a satisfying way. It’s small, but feels much more open to creativity than Whittleton Creek or New York.
The thing I like about Dubai is the sweet sweet verticality and all the different ways to get to the penthouse, or literally anywhere. The map seems to have no dead ends. It’s the love child of Sgail and Paris.
So, I’m replaying Absolution and either the chef in Dubai is the same guy or they look and talk alike. My guess is the former.
btw, photo challenges! I’ve made enough photos of the target’s meeting with his daughter to fill three heavy magazines, but no challenge clicked. On YouTube the comments seem to recommend everything from angle, size, moment, not saving etc etc etc.
Is there any real trick or way to get tose challenges or does no one know a working trigger yet?
