Elusive Target #35: LeCHIFFRE (Returns: 25 August - 14 September 2025)

Well Rangan is still alive (brother would know he was dead), so it’s before or during the events of Hitman 1

Thank God 47 keeps this dirty card from the 1800s up his sleeve, otherwise how could he have cheated the game?

It’s too big and paper is no longer white :joy:

A fun and fresh way I came up with. Took a few tries to figure the right spot for the micro.

Ideally I’d micro-manage this run with better timing and camera angles, but recording & cutting & uploading is a pain with my setup, so this is good enough.

A quick one, but not a bad one.

Perhaps the easiest method in the game is to just kill him with his eyedrops by sedating the guards outside the office. Thanks to the way Hitman’s panic works, guards just forget you exist for a small period of time, so I abused that here. Surprisingly, when I did test runs of this in the ETA, the guard outside the office was always distracted too, but that didn’t happen here. It was then a matter of waiting out the routine and getting to the front gate to exit.

When I get the time, I want to make a more cinematic run, going full bond with film-like camera angles and such. Though I have feeling I might be beaten to the punch in that regard.

I don’t know if it’s mentioned (I didn’t browse all 276 posts), but there are several bugs here:

I killed all the participants (except Smith, I just knocked him) and grabbed all 3 passes. When I got upstairs and talked to Le Chiffre, he says let’s go, but he never moves. Ok, maybe not bug, but the poker game never begins. However, take 2:

I obtained the pass from Smith by killing his target and knocked out Rangan, then talked to Le Chiffre. I went down and let the guard finds Rangan. He wakes up, goes in panic shortly, and then proceeds upstairs. I go upstairs also. Rangan goes to the rail at the poker table but never calls Le Chiffre and the game never begins.

Seems to me there are too many ways that the game never begins, and it should, regardless how many participants show up, especially if all of us are upstairs.

I think that has been mentioned above. I know I’ve seen it mentioned already somewhere. More specifically, it seems this happens if at least two of the three other players lose their invitations.

Possibly two things here:

  1. Same thing as the above, two other players lost their invitations because you took Smith’s and Rangan dropped his.
  2. Maybe also you were waiting for the game to start without 47 (“Rangan […] never calls Le Chiffre”), which it seems can’t happen after you get an invitation.

For now just went with the mission story. For the actual ET saved Agent Smith route:

And the other two did previously in the ETA:

Tried to showcase as much dialogue and features as possible, so the videos turned out quite lengthy.

Challenge-wise, it’s about as difficult as a visual novel, but the gags, the references, the presentation - pure gold. I was losing my shit every second Agent Smith was on screen, they absolutely nailed it.

By the way, it’s been years since I last saw Casino Royale, need to rewatch it sometime.

Thanks, you might have a point, but there are definitively some bugs on that level - I mean those bugs that make you stuck in a game and can’t move forward:

I killed Rangan
I dressed as a croupier
I started the poker game: Le Chiffre and Bai attending, Smith standing aside.
The GUI offers me: favor Le Chiffre, favor Bai, favor Rangan (sorry, GUI, Rangan is dead if nobody told you)
I favored Le Chiffre. I was stuck. I can’t leave the table, no “leave” button, and the poker game never starts.

Yeah, that one was discussed above too.

Two tickets to Phantom of the Opera! I don’t know when that challenge was added but I had never done it before.

Where’s this challenge? I’m pretty sure I’ve killed Le Chiffre as the vampire magnician at least once and there never was anything on screen…

It’s not specific to LeChriffre. It’s just “kill a target by dropping a chandelier on them while costumed as the vampire magician.”

Ah right, so I’ve probably already finished this challenge.

Anyone else have Smith give you his clothing and then go back upstairs to the game in his underwear? He did that for me and then when I went to speak to the dealer the game crashed.

What? That makes no sense :joy:

“You’re American? What on Earth are you doing in this shithole?”

For Smith to play in his underwear, all you have to do is have Smith be one of the players in the game (i.e. get Rangan’s or Bai’s invitations) and then have him rescue 47 after the kidnapping. Didn’t crash for me though.

That’s fantastic! Totally silly too though. I wish mine hadn’t crashed. The only other time I had Smith rescue me I was using his invite.

Giving just a brief feedback myself:

Good things; I liked the returning characters and the very new, unique looking character models for the Murillo guards & the female staff (the male staff used head/hair combos we’ve seen before, which was a tad disappointing)

Like others have said, the remodel of the palace was very cool to see. Having an optional target was also a neat twist. I do wish he had been fleshed out just a bit more, maybe with a proper headshot and a short intel blurb.

This female auction staff member who tends bar at the special poker game has been in the game files since 2016 but was never used before now - only men work at the auction in The Showstopper. Seeing previously-unused content get repurposed and given new life like this is a personal favorite of mine :D

Bad things; the localization is a bit all over the place - a lot of typos in the subtitles for this one, some lines aren’t subtitled at all (e.g. the guard telling Le Chiffre his eye is bleeding), some of them are just massive, long paragraphs that aren’t synced with the voiced dialogue… I’m also told that in several other languages, certain things are just plain not localized. This was all also true for the Splitter, and it isn’t really a great standard. I feel it could’ve used some extra polish there.

It also bugged me how everyone pronounces Murillo’s name as Morello (with more of an Italian-sounding LL rather than the Spanish, which is pronounced more like English’s Y)
