You can enter disguised regardless of whether Bruce needs you to fill in or not, because the last fighter is on another floor getting drunk and won’t show up, so there’s an open spot for a fighter if you KO him and take his outfit. If you keep Bruce from being poisoned, or cure him if he is, you can compete up to the point of facing him, but since 47’s mission is not to win but to make sure Bruce wins, and only fight for him if he can’t, he dips out if they face each other.
Thanks! There are tells - little animations opponens do before turns. They’re the same for all fighters except Lee and 47, so you can either watch more fights ingame and learn them yourself, or look up this post by @LandirtHome , he did a good job describing.
In addition to things I already mentioned in an earlier post, I notice that this is the third new ET we’ve had in the past year where we go into the mission with only one target on our radar, and we end up being presented with more targets as the story unfolds. The Splitter had the clones, The Banker had the guy Smith was worried about, and The Infiltrator has the special fighters.
There’s also variation in how they are presented, and our options for dealing with them. The Splitter clones’ reveal is inevitable, and their deaths are mandatory once they are revealed. The guy who Smith thinks spotted him in The Banker is only revealed if you follow Smith’s mission story, and his elimination is optional as he can be simply KOed and hidden, but an elimination does not invalidate SA status as he becomes a sanctioned target. And the Infiltrator’s bonus targets are also an inevitable reveal, but their elimination is also optional, as you do not need to kill or even KO them, you just have to make sure either Bruce Lee beats them in a fight or you do it yourself.
While this has helped shake things up from the prior formula, I feel like three times of additional surprise targets in a row is enough, and hopefully IOI won’t try to repeat it yet again with the next one and just keeps the focus on the main target.
It’s really a shame that you can´t fight Lee, I know that you could techincally fail the mission if you do that, but hey, if you can dissqualify him as the referee you should’ve also been able to fight him. They could’ve made him really hard to beat to prevent failing the mission that way, besides, from a story point of view, it would also make his victory seem more “legit”, instead of having 47 forefeiting for no reason, which is really suspicious.
Technically you can also swap their name plates so they fight each other and Lee only has to face one.
Yeah to be fair if I was running a crime syndicate recruitment drive disguised as a martial arts tournament, and some bald guy repeatedly asked to fight in stead of Bruce Lee or instantly gave up in the finals against him, I’d be sure to have a nice little “talk” with them.
Well, keep in mind, a person can choose to forfeit a fight for any reason they want, as they’re the ones who chose to enter to begin with, and going up against Bruce Lee is a pretty significant reason. In any event, since both Lee and 47 do indeed want to have a “talk” with the head of the organization, that works out well even if they are suspicious.
Nah they need one more
- Splitter has Required Reveal, Required Elimination
- Banker has Optional Reveal, Optional Elimination
- Infiltrator has Required Reveal, Optional Elimination
so the last one has to have a target you must eliminate but may or may not find out about :]
Which would just piss everyone off when they fail and don’t know why. Terrible idea.
Yes, that is in fact the joke :p
As for the Dragon’s Head bodyguard: I think it happened in Arcade (not Elusive target mode):
I was crouching behind the bodyguard, and Dragon Head walking in front, in that private apartment. I killed bodyguard. Diana said something like “Well done, 47! This was in fact … (some name) … and you managed to eliminate him from the contest” and one of 3 names from the target list got crossed off. I don’t remember which one, this was first or second time I played that mission, so it was all confusing to me.
So basically:
You can finish this level, no kills, SA, suit only, if you just:
- enter the fighting area (whether through balcony, or by acquiring the ticket etc)
- block those two guys from poisoning Bruce Lee (either block them, or block Bruce, or ask to speak to him so he ignores the other two; there are plenty of ways to do that)
and Bruce will take care of all.
Am I right?
That was the point of my post. There are various ways to finish this level, of course, there always is. But this level is unique in the way you don’t have to do (almost) nothing to finish it.
It’s probably faster to just disguise as the MC though, as you can automatically eliminate the 3 Concord people when they don’t show up, can disqualify anyone once because you don’t like their face, and might be able to eliminate some of the contestants if they’re just one second late to the fight.
Jiaolong Wu only lives twice.
Seriously tho, is this a common bug or I’m just lucky? Can’t be bothered to do it again.
Oh, so this is why the special cutscene for this same kill in Marrakesh is now broken and doesn’t play. Because they reused the kill here - didn’t realise it was - and someone has disabled/broken it thinking it was a bug or something.
They really just make changes without realising/thinking about what other missions/locations can be affected, huh?
Yes, it has happened to me aswell, it can also happen when killing Xiao Hu with the weights.
Now I wonder if all other weight kills in the game are broken too. I need to test this out.
Are there any playtesters left at IO?
So apparently the paralytic poison carried by the targets can be used on food and drink. I managed to add a bit of flavor to a guard’s food as a waiter but aside from him saying he didn’t feel well that didn’t seem to do anything. Curiously the smoke emanating from the food was orange instead of the usual red / green ![]()
Next time I’ll try to use it on one of the targets, maybe it could make their fight against Lee an automatic loss?
I’ve been wondering about that, but haven’t tested it. I wonder what effect it could have if added to the game proper. Maybe make the NPC hint but unable to see any illegal action taking place in front of them, perhaps? A target and one NPC in a room, dose the NPC with the paralytic, they stand there dizzy and you could pull out a knife and cut the target’s throat right in front of them and they won’t see shit or do anything, they just stand there for a while? Some possibilities to consider if it should ever be introduced to the rest of the game, which I doubt will happen.
Blindness (from explosives or the Serpent crossbow) already does that, and you can still see things when you’re paralyzed.
An effect that could be interesting would be to make NPCs stop their usual route and just stand there looking unwell. You can already get this behavior from poisoned NPCs who can’t find a toilet to puke (because other poisoned NPCs are already using them and there aren’t enough puke spots on the map for all of them), but being able to trigger that consistently with a poison could open some interesting possibilities, even if it’s a bit of a niche use.
That’s more what I’m talking about. I know those other things already cause blindness, but that’s a temporary effect that’s only caused by vision disruption. The paralytic seems to make the affected be unable to properly concentrate at all, so it’s not a matter of blindness so much as just not focusing on the world around them at all, allowing you to get away with pretty much anything in front of them, much as an emeticly poisoned subject would be as you mentioned. I don’t see a whole lot of potential benefit from it, but it could be fun to test some scenarios.
