Why waste company resources on things players are going to hate, tanking the public perception and good relationship they’ve cultivated so far, especially when they have a pricey licensed title on the line in the future?
If they hated Hitman as it is, they would abandon it. Really simple as that.
They could have released the game and been done with it. But in a time where they needed to find ways to secure funds for more content or for 007 after the launch, and probably because the teams were stretched between Hitman, 007, and Unannoucned Project, they figured they could make some small, tailored Escalstions à là 7DS, and deal with New Locations later…
I think they just saw the requests for a permanent ET mode, and foolishly tried to “improve upon it” and “make it interesting” by putting a strange escalation format to it.

Yes, I guess. I hope. But really, how can they think after all the bad feedback this year and after all those hundreds, thousands of “oh no not more escalations” comments that more escalations would be a good idea? We all know that they are frequent readers of this forum. They must have known this but still did it. Again and again and again.

We won’t know until they tell us exactly why. Which may never happen unfortunately.
It could be a case of
“Maybe THIS TIME we’ll show them why Escalations are fun!”
Maybe it was a case of poorly allocated resources/departments, and the people behind it only know how to build Escalations tracks.
But… you really can’t say “IOI actually hates Hitman and is trying to make it fail”.
They’re a business, not a disgruntled artist. They’re supposed to try to make things people want, even if it’s risky and can fail – which here, it has.

That’s not what I said (or at least not what I wanted to say), I meant they are slowly trying to get rid of it and make fans want something new instead of continuing to give us more and more Hitman. They still want us to play and make money, but piece by piece always a bit more disappointing

Don’t get me wrong i love hitman so much since i was a child but the fact that this mode turned into a escalations was the worst move ever people wanted to play ets whatever they want but nope we got et escalations

Think about it:
Company makes shitload of money from product.
Company actively makes ot worse while hurting their profit, because theyre not gamefreak and can just shit on their ips.
So why would they continue to make it deliberately worse?
Companies only exist for money

Unfortunatly I accidently pacified Two People on the Angle of Death and failed the Mission and since the Arcade is seemingly bugged as hell, I’m logged out of all now and the Menu Trick didn’t work.
Does anyone mind telling me what the Rewards are? Anything worth the effort or…?
