I think complications should probably be randomized so it stays fun in some way, and doesn’t make some of the ETs annoying to play because of one complication (like “hide all bodies”), idk if they could do that with that format though, and if they want to ofc
I agree. The post I was responding to though, gave the impression that there was no SA solution to this:
“There’s nothing to do, perhaps short of killing both the target and her entire entourage with a sniper rifle.”
Just pointing out that there is a way, and it’s not hard once you know it either.
You must hide the bodies, even though NPC was killed through poisoning or by accident.
A good workaround is to use sedative: if a NPC is sedated with Kalmer for example, you can leave the body and make some other NPC noticing the unconscious guy. He’ll be awoken and you don’t need to hide his body. Because you use Kalmer, it doesn’t wipe SA rating.
Sorry for my phrasing. I missed out the part that the ets in the first packs will return later as we seen it in the reveal trailer. So I have a feeling this is why they made this decision. But I get you, as these plus complications shouldn’t be so restrictive.
Or keep the ET’s free/open, but have a bunch of challenges and rewards tied to certain ways.
For example:
Completing a set with only sniper kills would be a challenge, and completing it would reward you an “Arcade skin” Sniper.
Complete a set with only fiber wire kills would be a challenge, and completing it would reward you an “Arcade skin” Fiber wire.
And so on.
That way the ETs are any/any and are free to approach as you want, and the challenges and rewards could motivate players to come back and use different approaches.
Now this is something I could get behind. Challenging enough, but not that restrictive.
Now THIS is a nice concept.
Can’t say I wouldn’t be disappointed if all the rewards are reskins though, but the challenges being more kill-focused, yet open like that is a great idea.
It would be fine, but that removes a lot of the “arcade” sense, and you’re pretty much making FCs now
ALL of the complaints you see from speedrunners about this game disappear when you play it slow. For example, the delay when you set off an explosion before you can exit a door. Pain in the ass while speedrunning but it’s irrelevant if you’re going slow. Why do you think most of the debates about Hitman seem like they’re coming from people who’ve played different games? It’s because they have. If you speedrun it’s a completely different experience than someone going slow and taking their time.
You think ioi cares about that delay/exit? Has ioi ever stated they’re fixing ANY of the complaints speedrunners have about this game? Nope. Because to them, they’re not problems.
Not really. They are still the elusive targets and still come in sets that you have to complete all the way through.
Only difference would be that there aren’t any complications like hide all bodies, but instead challenges tied to certain approaches.
Doesn’t suddenly make it not arcade
Thanks for the insight, did not know that.
That does not mean that they hate speedrunners tho. I know for a fact they don’t
Their actions, specifically with this game, say otherwise. Agree to disagree.
Them inviting over speedrunners to their hq/events multiple times, them reaching out to us twice now for a featured contract batch, them tweeting about our speedrunning events and talking with us all say otherwise.
Gameplay decisions that go against the wishes of speedrunners doesn’t mean IO hates speedrunners.
Hello Frote7 i love your speedrun content
Ok, they hate the act of speedrunning but not the actual players that do it. Better?
Nah that is also simply not true, know that for a fact.
I’m not happy with a lot of the small decisions/changes since 2016 either, a lot of people know my stance on that. IO having a different vision on the gameplay mechanics, or unforeseen side affects as a result of a change doesn’t mean they hate speedrunning
But speedrunnes aren’t a priority either, that is true.
What’s also simply not true is you saying you know for a fact. You don’t. Unless you can read minds. What you’re stating is an opinion, like everyone else.
Some community members have been around for a long time and had many opportunities to talk with the developers directly and even see them physically. Frote7 is one of them, there is no need to read minds when decisions, behaviors and thoughts are clearly stated.
Do you think that io will take in to accountability how many of us don’t like the mode the way it is and will potentially give additional content towards it like unlocking the missions in there own or allowing non restrictions
Aren’t you literally doing the same thing?
The real fact is
- they’ve maintained a close relationship with prominent speedrunners
AND - the entire game of HITMAN is built around a time reward system, where the cleanest, fastest run gets the most points. Speedrunning.
They’ve held onto their leaderboards system for a long time now for that fact.
