Here’s a recent example of why I’m glad I can still restart on console and they should never remove that ability. I got stuck inside the railing and couldn’t get out. Either I could close and restart the game to fix the problem and continue on, or I could quit in-game to the main menu, failing the campaign and making the hours I spent getting to that point a waste of time.
Honestly I find that wrench is beyond useless. If all you need is a bonker the free newspaper only costs 2, and if you want to set up some explosions it’s usually better to just shoot the canisters - last time I tried using a wrench on those red ones in Ambrose they blew up in my face :x
Just had the biggest noob moment. I was quickly cycling through my inventory to drop a weapon and accidently dropped the Nitroglycerin instead.
I miss when Alt+F4 used to work
If you were extremely quick with the action, it used to work even with deaths.
Today I used Peacock and some cheating to satisfy my curiosity of what happens to the digital counter on the Prestige trophy if you reach Prestige Level 100. It does this:
Also, after reaching Level 100 and having all items again - the laptop will activate but there will be no prompt to move to Level 101. So 100 is the maximum level in the Prestige system.
Probably until then we will have a Multiverse Level that, to advance, resets everything including Prestige and goes up to 100 as well.
At one point I in Mendoza wanted to setup a trap for a guard (he wasn’t even a target or an objective, I just had that idea randomly pop up in my head) so I placed a coin on the edge of a bench, and some nitro on the coin. Then I looked at the setup and thought it looked a bit off, so I wanted to move it around a bit. I grabbed the coin first and you can guess what happened afterwards.
I had a good laugh and the nitro still remains one of my favorite items in the game.
This sounds like a fun trap, I need to try this (but maybe not in Freelancer)!
It still works. Just hold Alt and press F4 twice quickly. You basically Alt+F4 the screen that tries to log you Alt+F4ing.
That’s not the point tho. The point is to balance the items. Pointless to have a paid/reward item be same cost as a free one.
I’m glad the game is smart enough to realize which weapon should be inside the briefcase at mission start.
Was almost expecting it to be the other way round lol.
So apparently the ancestral / ornate weapons don’t seem to appear in the reward crates for defeating a leader - I was only missing the ancestral sniper and got 30k instead as a reward for finishing a campaign. This means we’ll have to buy back this overpriced stuff everytime we use prestige
Yeah, I’m still not entirely sure how the whole thing works, but I think the “Thematic Weapons” (that includes the recent DLC) can’t appear in the rewards crates.
Also, I once got Merces as a reward several times in a row despite the fact I was still missing quite a few non-Thematic Weapons on my walls, and that was when the Suppliers were stubbornly trying to peddle Thematic Weapons instead of what I was interested in… So I was thinking maybe the reward crate internally works like an extra Supplier that gives you one of the non-Thematic Weapons they currently have in stock, and just Merces if there aren’t any? Meaning if you’re stuck with Suppliers that just won’t sell you non-Thematic Weapons (which is annoying, by the way! I guess some of the DLC weapons can be useful very early on, but you quickly feel like you’re being punished for having bought them), that might also prevent you from getting weapons from the crate?
If I took a drink every time someone used the word “balance” to describe why something should or should not happen with this game, I could have killed my long-dead ancestors with liver failure. I need to get everyone here a thesaurus.
I’d prefer a triceratops myself if you intend to give dinos to everyone here :x
That’s f*ckin’ incredible.
This video will be important soon.
Right, I’ve been working on this since March; The Four Flaws of Freelancer. My opinion of why the mode feels repetitive and demotivating to play. Enjoy!
I agree with all your points, just one note: The XP gained from missions is mostly static and isn’t directly based on your playstyle: 500 for doing the mission, 250 per syndicate member, 1000 per side objective done, 2000 per Prestige objective, 2500 for doing all four objectives. As long as you’re doing all the objectives, you can be as loud or sneaky as you want and it won’t change anything XP wise. The only randomness depends on how much side stuff the game decides to spawn and you decide to do, but these have much smaller XP bonuses (300 per safe cracked, 250 per lookout/assassin neutralized, 150 per courier, 25 per crate searched).
BTW, it’s funny to see that you got stuck the same way that I did on Mendoza
I made a deleted comment earlier about this.
What was lost in translation here was that I mean that mastery levels got harder to earn, not that XP is harder to earn, hence the comparison I made to Battle Pass levels in Paladins and Fall Guys (which are static, not Dynamic as it is in Hitman) – I did try and fix this in the timestamps. I didn’t notice all this until I uploaded it to Youtube, and by that point it was too late, and I wasn’t going to be waiting another hour and a half to upload and re-render it.
Also, I’ve uploaded most of the art used in the video to the Fan Art section if anyone wants to view it in better quality.
Lili spitting facts.
