Freelancer - General Discussion

I feel like Mastery Level 100 is the best metric to consider for a “natural stopping point.”

I would assume that the majority of Hitman players don’t have 100% completion of all Challenges and Achievements (while many of us get close, some are more fun to complete than others)

For me, the Safehouse is the central goal and source of progression. That and the new suits

I mean, those aren’t the players who would grind, though. And my point still stands, even if you take level 100 as the end of Freelancer, that was supposed to last for months, not for a week.

Of course people who rushed through the entire game mode feel burned out now, but that’s not the game mode’s design that’s at fault.

I disagree, but I’ve pretty much exhausted everything I have to say about Freelancer in “Freelancer Killed Hitman”

I love the idea, I think it’s stretched beyond its limits and feels a little barebones.

Without the Safehouse, it would be ignored like Sniper Assassin

I kinda find the Silent Assassin Prestige objective kind of annoying. Unlike in the base game If I poison a target with a sedative and somebody spots them it gets voided. I think this is because of the nobodies found part not taking into consideration for sedatives. Does SA get voided for
public accident kills?

Yes. It will also get voided if the target sees you before/as you kill them.

Isn’t it only SA/NF that is (presumably incorrectly) operating under the H2016 SA rules? I’ve been spotted by targets with standard SA and SA/SO and not had it fail as I killed them before they could spread their information. Or are they busted on some platforms and not others?

I play on steam and have had the SA PO behave like the H2016 rules. It’s annoying, especially when the only person to see me is the target that I am killing, but I can work around it. Dunno if it behaves differently on Epic and I never pick SA on my PS4 account, that one is for messing around only.

My primary account is on PS5 (which is basically just the PS4 game) and don’t have issues with SA or SA/SO - only SA/NF. When I took part in the CTT on Steam though, I recall all SA PO’s being busted. So I guess some platforms are more busted than others. :frowning:

On a different note, I don’t remember - but does anyone recall if after the May patch if there was one of the tutorial pop up things/game hint/tips things about the Prestige system upon loading the safehouse? I was just thinking, how are casual players that don’t read the patch notes meant to learn about the Prestige system beyond having every item and then just accidentally stumbling across the activated laptop? Or are they just expected to look at the challenges and then Google what Prestige even is?

I just finished my first campaign ! At mastery level 41 …

But, I got to keep my tools ? Now the question I have; when do I loose my tools ? I loose the weapons if I switch on prestige, or die in a mission having them on me.

And I loose the tools if I switch on hardcore, or fail a campaign. But, if I finish a campagin and start a new one, I keep them ? What’s the purpose of the collectors tools then, that says “persistent across campaigns” ?

You lose the entirety of freelancer tools when you fail a campaign or switch to/from hardcore, that’s it.

Everything that is weapon-wall is only subject to being left behind in a level, whether by forgetfulness or death.

If, for example, you fail a non-alerted, non-showdown level by leaving it early, you will lose nothing.

Thanks for the info, I see ! Good to know I won’t loose them all once the campaign is over.

I’ve always seen Freelancer as a game mode to keep us all busy until the next big Hitman game arrives.

Well, that won’t be for quite some time (according to IOI, at least).

Freelancer is theoretically endless. Then again, so are the Story Missions. I’ve played through The Finish Line and The Showstopper well over 100 times each.

Claiming that the biggest Hitman Fans are “playing it wrong” is a rather silly notion. If IOI really wanted it to take months or even years, they could have forced it to (that’s what they did with ET’s, and everybody loves that decision :stuck_out_tongue:).

Many of these players complaining about grind also have 500+ hours across the trilogy. If players like them (and me) think that Freelancer feels thin, stretched, and padded… surely those thoughts and feelings aren’t as easily dismissible as “maybe you should play less.”

You must’ve misread my comment. I never “claimed” that “the biggest Hitman fans” were “playing it wrong”.

I also have over a thousand hours across the trilogy, fyi.

Edit: So, I wanted to know how much of a no-life real gamer/actual Hitman fan I actually am: 2,278 hours across the trilogy. :upside_down_face:

180 hours Hitman 2016
259 hours Hitman 2
1,839 hours Hitman 3 (1,174 hours PS4 version, 665 hours PS5 version)

I’m just glad there’s no way for me to find out how many hours I spent on Freelancer already

Send help.

Where did you find these numbers on PlayStation 4 ?
Or are they just estimates from yourself?

The numbers for PS4 are in your PS5 profile! You just have to scroll further down, because the system counts versions for different platforms as different games.

I don’t have ps5. Only ps4. So there’s no way to get these numbers without a ps5?

There’s an option somewhere that allows you to opt in to sharing usage statistics. If you do, you can get your end-of-year wrap-up when PlayStation offers them.

I think it also includes lifetime statistics. Genuinely can’t remember if I’m misremembering that now, though. :upside_down_face:

What happened to r/HITMAN reddit? It says it turned private. Am I blocked or something?:face_with_monocle:

No, subreddits are going dark for a few days to protest Reddit trying to kill off third party apps.
