I made a return to Freelancer last night. I must admit, I find it a mixed bag, not because I think the mode is bad, but mainly due to myself and own lack of skill. Honestly, I’m not that good at Hitman, when I’m playing campaign missions I do tend to save scum a lot and take things very slowly, things that go against the grain of Freelancer. It can be frustrating in Freelancer to spend 20 minutes in a level, slowly getting through it, only to cock up on the lack target and get gunned down and lose the weapons you brought and take a financial hit. I’ve kept messing up lately and I’ve lost 2 of my 3 sniper rifles and now only have the one that doesn’t have a silencer on it which is very frustrating.
I’ll probably make another attempt tonight. I want to at least complete a full campaign.
I did the Scarecrow trick to get the Burning Man challenges done early on in Freelancer, but I would advise extreme caution because even when running next to evacuating suspects, their Assassins will still be able to engage you in combat (and kill you quickly in HC) right before they become immobilised and burn themselves. Had a few close calls like that when I did that challenge, so I’d thought I’d let you know!
Just did the 2nd syndicate of a campaign showdown in colorado and have to say im having lots of fun on this map.
Chose SA for a PO amd got out with SA. I used the hacker disguise to go around quite easily.
It was tougher with SO but only doing SA or even non SA POs, this map is quite simple for showdowns for its lack of verticality, smaller size map and theres lots of accidents around.
I finally got level 100, with a few challenges remaining. I miss only Natural Selection (3/10), the other poison challenge (8/25). Prestige level is 3 and I completed 18 campaigns. I don’t think to get 50 or 100 campaignns. I think just to complete other challenges (poison and prestige).
Final syndicate on hardcore, Dubai. Had to get a collateral accident and it was the fella in the toilets.
Easy peasy. Knock him out, turn on the tap, plant a proxy taser, then let the guard investigate and die.
The problem was that placing it decided to be janky, meaning i had to drop it in desperation and flee. Unfortunately, the guard was blocking the exit, thus resulting in all three of us frying.
Having lots of fun with Freelancer mode. I have not enjoyed Hitman this much since 2016. Its funny, who knew having physical collection and a safehouse was the missing link for me.
After playing through a lot of the main story missions again, I think they were a bit too strict with their “Freelancerifications” of maps where they changed and removed weapons. Did they really need to remove the Bartoli Woodsman Hunting Rifle in Berlin? Did they really need to remove the Amputation and Circumcision Knives from Sapienza? Could they not have still had a Druzhina 34 available in Mumbai? Could they not have kept Katanas in Bangkok and Hokkaido instead of replacing them with Tantos?
probably because all those tools were collectable for your stash, because the tanto, druzhina 34, katana, tanto, circumcision knife are above common quality, if these stuff were readily available, let’s be real here, if getting rare tools from the map was that easy, they’ll not be sold at suppliers and your collection will be easily completed
there’s your answer
by the way if you suddenly saw a short amount of text turned into a long ass sentence, that’s because i edited it
IMO the biggest problem comes from removing a lot of the propane tanks, which makes collateral prestige objectives a lot harder. And there’s no rhyme nor reason to it. Like I can still find some tanks in Paris and Dubai, but Dartmoor has absolutely none
You can get them from the maps though (aside from the Druzhina). Tanto in Hokkaido, katana in Sgail, knives in Miami and Sgail. And it’s not particularly hard to get them, you can just get a guard disguise in Sgail, grab the katana from the gallery and save a bunch of merces. Kinda weird they were removed from some places but not others :x
Are you certain that you’re killing the target first then the non target gets killed second? Cuz maybe there’s a bug (or an oversight in programming) that if the non target dies first before the target, then it doesn’t register properly. So I’m guessing make sure the explosion is aimed to kill the target first.
Have you paid attention to this? Or are you totally sure that this isn’t the case as you’ve done this but still not getting it done?
How are you causing the explosion? If its with a BC or another explosive, are you sure that a NPC isn’t getting caught in the explosion that causes the propane to explode (which is not an accident), rather than in the propane accidental explosion itself?
I’ve only done the collateral thing once just for the sake of it, so I’ve never paid attention to a lot of the details about it. Does the collateral NPC, in any of the variations of the challenge, have to be a civilian, or can it be a guard?
