The frisk in Chongqing seems to be intentional, as in the mission story where you go on the facility tour the guide explains that there’s no exceptions to the frisk.
The bodyguard in front of Nolan Cassidy’s house will also always frisk you, I guess due to Cassidy’s hyper-secure paranoia. The guy will still frisk you even if you’re dressed as Spencer “The Hammer” Green!
Oh my god, finally. Had some great map options and objectives, and went for Miami for all four showdowns. A great option as it’s very safe for clearing out assassins, lookouts, targets, and cameras.
I hope they nerf the obnoxious showdowns as hardcore would be a lot more fun if it wasn’t for those.
Yeah I know what you mean, but it’s also really frustrating on occasions after you’ve Prestige and you see all the objectives coming through like Silenced Sniper Kill, Silenced Pistol Kill, Fiber Wire Kill etc and you haven’t got anything
Thanks for the insight. I guess it could be intentional, although considering how ingrained the tiered security checkpoints have worked up until now, it does seem like a big trap to suddenly change it for just a couple of exceptions. Going to have to keep it in the back of my mind whenever I do China.
Might as well bring this up: is the “Arrange Meeting” Prestige Objective in Showdowns bugged? First time, it failed, but then worked when I got a second phone. Second time, did it twice and never trigged, just left the map afterwards. And in a recent Showdown, it worked the first time I tried that. Glitch or could I be doing something wrong? Seems simple, simply use a suspect phone and call a meeting to fullfil the objective.
Arrange Meeting has been bugged since Freelancer launched, though they have improved its functionality some. At launch I couldn’t ever get it to work even after using all 4/6/9 phones on the map. Now, I’m able to get it to trigger within 3 phones like 75% of the time
What platform? I’m on Xbox, I’ve never had an issue with it, I literally used it to lure a Leader and got the objective completed just two days ago. The only issue I ever had was realizing that it only counts against your target; killing or pacifying your target and using the phone to arrange a meeting among the other suspects doesn’t count. But aside from that, it’s never given me issues.
PS5, and for me it’s never mattered whether the leader was killed or pacified. Sometimes it will pop up the second or third time when the real leader’s still walking around, sometimes it will pop up the third time after all three suspects with that agenda have been pacified, sometimes it’ll pop up the first time after I’ve already killed the leader, sometimes it won’t pop up at all within three phones so my attitude has been to just leave and take the failed objective instead of wasting even more time seducing other Syndicate types to get more phones. I can’t find any rhyme or reason to it.
I’m on PC, and it definetly works when the leader is already dead, I’ve definetly done that twice before. And if it was intentional that the objective is impossible when the leader is dead, shouldn’t it auto fail as soon as the leader is dead? As others are saying, it just seems very bugged.
I’ve just had one of the shortest Freelancer missions ever. 21 seconds in total and all four objectives completed.
It was in Hokkaido and I spawned on the mountain path (ninja start). Since one of my objectives was “Sniper Rifle Kill” I brought one of those and could easily snipe my target, who was in the central courtyard, right from the spawn. Then I only needed to fire a Sieker dart at one the guards coming up the path towards me. After that I just left using the exit right beside me.
I might’ve spent more time in loading screens than actually playing
I gotta say, as great as Freelancer is (and it must be great for me to have spent 28.666 days playing Hitman in 2023), I am pretty disappointed they haven’t done more to add to the mode given there’s so much potential for improvements: New Syndicates/objectives, improve Hardcore, more weapons to collect for the walls, more items to show up in the in-level crates, more potential targets on each mission, more spawns for Suppliers/Couriers/Safes/item crates, more dialogue for Suppliers/Couriers/Suspects/Diana, actually giving 47 proper voice lines to respond to Suppliers, more starting locations in maps (even undercover?), more challenges, fixing Sapienza to not always have the Master mode layout, putting in the coin, etc.
The only major thing they added to Freelancer was the Prestige system, which is an okay band-aid but it still doesn’t fix the issue of Merces ultimately becoming useless. Eventually every player will reach a point where they don’t want to prestige more whether that’s at Level 0 or 10, or they actually reach level 100 and can’t Prestige more.
I would love to have more thematic weapon/suit sets based around Mendoza and Carpathian Mountains so all six “core” Hitman 3 maps got them instead of just four. I would kill to have the Freelancer variations mod officially implemented in the game. If just a handful of talented fans could make that, why can’t IO? (I know, actual game development is much more complex than fan mod development)
Agree. So much potential with new syndicates. For example, a illegeal gambling syndicate (with random objectives, neutralize a courier…). But maybe IOI wants to keep the choice between 8 syndicates overall.
What do you want to change in Hardcore? The mode is already painful, especially for newcomers. Personally, I would keep it as it is.
Too much weapons kill weapons. Having new weapons that are just swap color with no new features doesn’t bring new things to the game. Would be interesting if additional weapons have other features (like the bestial AK with 60 bullets instead of 30).
There are already a lot of challenges related to Freelancer. Most of them are long and grinding. Don’t think similar challenges add improvement to the Freelancer mode. Moreover, the new challenges must be achievable for average players. Otherwise, it would disgust.
Still didn’t understand why IOI is waiting so much time before incorporating the coin in-game. There must be something with that coin (celebration of 1 year of Freelancer?)
The inclusion of Hawke’s Bay or other variations of Sapienza would be a good step forward!
Hardcore as it is right now is too hard with not nearly enough rewards to be worth it. There are many ways they could improve it: have XP rewards every mission not just Showdowns, have fewer Lookouts on the Showdowns, maybe even make progression toward challenges count double when you’re on Hardcore mode. Like beating one Hardcore campaign gives you two points toward Top Dog.
There’s a few weapons I wish they would add to the mode: Striker V3 (as Epic or Legendary so that Unsilenced Pistol Kill - Epic can be completed by more than just El Matador), Goldbrick Proximity Mine, Bubble Queen Gum Pack, The Roar Flash Grenade, The Serpent’s Tongue, The Floral Baller (cause it looks amazing), the Shashka Beast as a Legendary since Assault Rifles are the only category of weapons to not get any Legendaries.
I’d like to get enough challenges to actually fill up the empty spaces on the shelves. You’re right though that most of the challenges are very long and grindy, I’d like some challenges added that are actual challenges like the main missions had. For example, kill a Syndicate leader suit only or kill a target with the Meat Hook.
Also, forgot to mention these in the original post:
I’d love for there to be a rare chance for two safes or two Suppliers selling different items to show up in a mission.
Add an option to select any briefcase I want for the mode instead of just the ICA Briefcase all the time. People have been asking for this since the mode came out.
I’d love for Prestige to be based on a high percentage of all weapons collected (say, 95%) so that way the Concrete and Makeshift DLCs don’t actually hinder your Prestige progress. Plus, they can then add new weapons to the mode without actually making it much harder to Prestige. Thanks to whoever suggested this to me several months ago.
Have Thematic Weapons be able to show up as rewards for completing a Syndicate instead of making you hope they show up in a supplier when you have enough money.
More safehouse environments would be really nice to see too: a sunrise with a beautiful skybox, a snow-covered environment so that we could run around in the many winter outfits (and get free snowballs and icicles), a wet and rainy environment since they already have those effects made for Chongqing. Plus, the ability to swap environments whenever you want, maybe by lying down on the bed.
Excellent to hear! Yeah, I’ve had a few of these come up too. Sometimes the stars align for a satisfying mission with all the sounds of objectives ticking off and walking back to your exit!
If I was a betting man, I’d bet Freelancer is going to be the centre of some new content and updates this year. We still have some things missing, such as the coin from the weapon cases and the Easter, Halloween and Xmas decorations for the Safehouse living room and outside areas.
Not to mention there’s some long overdue bug fixes, such as the Dubai helicopter taking off without no sound from outside 47’s Safehouse.
There’s still plenty of room to add more weapons to the wall. Plus, there’s a big open space next to the Makeshift weapons.
