Freelancer - General Discussion

I’ve added ‘Predominately Xbox One’. To be honest, I’ve not heard other users say about this besides those playing on Xbox One at the moment to be fair.

I miss levelling up in Freelancer and unlocking new stuff for the Safehouse. I really hope IOI add more mastery levels with new unlocks

OK so I did a quick test about this in contracts and it looks like the bug affects all the cloaked guard enforcers, or at least the three I know of: the patrolling guard I mentioned (he’s actually the AR and not the shotgun one), the one at the top of the castle, and the one near the Constant’s desk in his tower. Each time I walked up to them in a cloaked guard disguise (since they’re enforcers for that) and they started shooting without warning.

So it’s probably fair to assume it’s the same thing in Freelancer

It happens occasionally, that Prestige objectives clash with the exisiting objectives of a map, making it impossible to complete all four objectives. But it is fairly rare, that the objectives of the map themselves are impossible to achieve. This is one example:

There is only one target, that needs to be sedated as well as taken down silently with a rare melee weapon. At this point it would still be possible to knock them out, have them found and woken up again and then knock them out again. But in addition there is “Hide Target Bodies” which fails as soon as the unconscious body is found. So even without a Prestige objective, the three exisiting objectives are impossible to complete. I thought I’d share this, because it is only the second time I’ve ever seen it (and forgot the screenshot the first time).

You can knock them out with a rare melee, shoot the body with a kalmer, and then hide the body.

Should work, since shooting living KO’d NPCs with dart guns usually fulfills it IIRC

I tried exactly that, but it didn’t register for me :frowning:

Ko target, have them found and woken up, then sedate them. Would that work?

Unfortunately not, as it fails this bit:

And this is exactly why I’ve been against the inclusion of the objectives from the start. And that’s just one reason.

I don’t mind the objectives in general, I just wish they were actually achievable.

Usually they are with patience and careful planning. It’s situations like this example, when they’re impossible, or situations where you kinda have to keep restarting to come up with a sufficient strategy, that grinds my gears.

I thought that syringes didn’t effect no bodies found? Poison counts as accident, is this not similar for sedative?

In Freelancer, any found body affects the body found objective. Not all of them ruin SA, though.

Ahhh, thanks for the clarification. Boo

Specifically, any target body found. Hell, if you have a target in the security room outside the vault of the bank in New York, and you use the chloroform to knock out all the guards in that room, if one of the guards sees the target pass out a split second before they do, it ruins the Hide Target Bodies objective.

Man, that’s a tough break

Yes, but if you have the No Bodies Found objective (minus the “target”), any found body will affect that.

I worded it that way to make absolutely clear that in Freelancer, there are no exceptions for any reason. Poison, banana, puddle, doesn’t matter.

Well, there is one exception; the No Bodies Found aspect of the Silent Assassin Prestige objective. That one will allow sedatives and accidents and such, but it’s the only one that specifies no bodies but allows that. The actual No Bodies Found or Hide Target Bodies objectives don’t play that. I hate them.

This is a notable example, but as for judgment on these occasional “objectives quirks”, put me down as one vote for being totally fine with it. You can’t win em all. Shit happens. It’s just a game. Why so serious. All that.

(Not you necessarily, but some of our more… obsessive members.)

That’s why I was specifically talking about the no bodies found objective (and even mentioned that it’s not voiding silent assassin).

Speaking of bodies being found, if you choose to have the ‘Silent Assassin’ prestige objective on the final part of the campaign, the objective isn’t always ruined if you put lethal poison in syndicate leaders food or drink and the body is found. I’ve had that scenario a couple of times when playing on Mendoza.
