Spoiler Does anyone figure out Sometimes Maybe Good, Sometimes Maybe Shit feats?
i think thats for losing a set amount of showdowns
Okay, Alerted Territories definitely change how Enforcer AI works⦠(or maybe Freelancer in general, actually)
You know how if you run into an NPC enough (like when theyāre blocking a door) theyāll briefly become an enforcer? You know how that eventually disappears after they go back to their routine?
Well I just turned a normal civilian into an enforcer with that exact scenario, on Alerted territory, and they arenāt turning back to normal. They are now a permanent SUPER enforcer for any disguise I try to wear!
Thereās also Guard behaviour when suspicious. My previous, normal mission, I made a guard alerted and he chased after me briefly.
After I lost him and he returned to his post, he didnāt go back to normal ā he immediately entered a Hunting mode for a few minutes, ran around a bit, then finally back to normal.
That is NOT the way guard AI routine is supposed to work at allā¦
Anyone notice how NPCS suddenly have haven vision, on every level? Just been shot to death in a crate in New York, despite no one seeing me enter.
OMGā¦I feel so disappointed I dropped a torch while I was standing on oil spil to get extra mercs, I lost around 40k mercsā¦
and now the territory is alerted
Haha, you didnāt even lose enough (50k) for the cheevo? Damn, that hurts.
Ahh⦠pretty sure Iāve gotten campaign death number 4 or 5ā¦
Though it was entirely my fault and I know exactly where I went wrong ā I was just too greedy with a courier, knocked him out in plain view of someone else, the entire delgado mansion shot me to deathā¦
been thereā¦lost a Silverballer on mine because I neglected to kill the assassin tailing my target before I killed the target themselves
Yes same here, Freelancer is going to take out all my seven deadly sins , I wanted to pride with 100,000 mercs ⦠too greedy for those extra mercs, the alerted suspects are quite annoying, later I figured to zoom my cameraā¦
But honestly I am really enjoying this freelancer, with Sekiro like rage feeling ā¦
This is going to be an addictive game with multiple replayability I guessā¦
My average mission times are about 30 to 45 minutesā¦
I should have made my hashtag longer to include āSteam Controller and Ansel FTWā! I always play HITMAN with a controller because I find it easier, and with the Steam Controller you can map buttons anyway you want so Iāve mapped Alt+F2 to be a single press of the rear grip-pad buttons: instant Ansel at a click.
(Fwiw, this isnāt something Iāve done for Freelancer, this is something I already had set up so that I could grab my Ansel screenshots right as I was controlling 47 to do something particularly photo-friendly as Iām activating Ansel.)
So, Iāve been taking my time with Freelancer. I will most likely be playing like this for like a year going forward, just focusing on playing the way Iāve always loved to play these games. Taking my time, picking syndicates that fit my playstyle (stealth, accidents, sniper, explosives). And I am really fucking enjoying this mode, it just feels fresh.
What I mean by taking my time, is that I donāt go into maps thinking about which weapons are there for my wall, or how fast can I get through a campaign, or how fast do I get my Mastery up. Iām taking the long view on this. Been doing like three to four missions a day. It also means I mess up less (havenāt failed anything yet), because I allow myself observe and not taking stupid chances chasing that campaign win. The weapons will get there in time, the campaigns will be completed, the Mastery will get there (undoubtable quicker though), and I want this to last as long as possible.
Anybody else doing this? I know most people are probably wanting to fill up those walls quickly, and thatās cool if thatās what you like to do. I can just say, this slow immersive way of playing makes for a very pleasant experience with the mode. Highly recommended.
You need to fail 10 campaigns. I unlocked that one quite fast during the CTT

how do you resolve that though?
An idea I have is have a system where you have 2 options.
1: when you become compromised, you should kill the witnesses which would cost you merces
Or
2: the more times youāre compromised and donāt kill the witnesses, the more enforcers there are on the next map/s.
So either way, being constantly compromised will cost you something.
Well thereās a āno witnessesā objective that does exactly that. It adds +1 to a counter for each witness and unless the counter is at 0 when you finish the level it will fail. Of course, killing civilian witnesses will cost you merces.
PSA: the countdown for Timed prestige objectives does not stop when browsing items in the Supplier menu.
Anyone figured out how to get the ICA Outstanding Service Coin (aka the one in the Freelancer Tools)? I wondered if it would show up if you had everything in the safehouse, but that hasnāt triggered it.
Iām guessing itās either āunlockedā to be purchaseable at Mastery 100, or its for doing every single challenge. But hopefully someone else figures it out and its something different.
During this last session, I had some problems with my controller. The right stick seems to drift upward randomly, and I donāt know if itās my top left button or my left analog stick. But when I try to run - I do it in short one-step spurts. Itās annoying as hell! AND I was on an alerted mission. I only had one instance where I was spotted through a wall by a target I had to kill anyway⦠But 2 or 3 more guards came in after the target went into combat. I got his disguise and was able to get out.
Also, I had a prestige objective to explode a safe open⦠But upon encountering it I just instinctually, maybe habitually scanned the files. So not only am I running around like Iām Limpy F_cking Lou, I canāt even remember to blow open a safe.
I blame it on the controller distracting me. It was an easy mission, but damn! Iām going to have to see about using a can of air on the potentiometers in my controller⦠Either some dust or hair has gotten into 'em and theyāre acting⦠[REDACTED]!
Why didnāt I keep the screwdriver and wrench when returning to safe house?
I hope that all these NO SA opponents who already had opportunity to play and feel how Freelancer works that silencer assassin in this mode itās just pointless. There is a new puzzles to solve.
BTW: They still didnāt fix kitchen dectoration bug.
AI is totally broken in this gamemode. Sometimes you go for a long range headshot, nobody sees you and guards go in the searching state while you run away somewhere else. Then suddenly random civs that you come across way further from the scene get the exclamation mark above their heads for no reason, and you are hunted then compromised.
The game is so broken that I even managed to go from hunted/compromised to perfectly fine without killing anyone or changing disguises.
Right now I just lost the final showdown of my campaign after melee killing the leader on Alexa Carlisleās bedroom balcony, because a civ heard the noise and spotted the corpses so I went on to cleaning the room. Guards outside see the kills but not me and go searching, I sneak into Alexaās office where I intended to kill guards for an objective.
They didnāt even have white dots or exclamation marks and were just standing at their usual place with guns out, then out of nowhere they start shooting and killing me.
And donāt get me started on view cones, and random enforcers that spot you miles away at light speed when youāre just chilling in your suit.
Overall Freelancer has been just a terrible experience for me, way too frustrating because Hitman is too janky to make a rogue lite mode work. Every failure doesnāt seem like the playerās fault but rather dying to bullshit you couldnāt react to or fix before itās too late, and then youāre punished by losing hours of playtime (campaigns are way too long as well, the last 6 mission section should have been removed).
Probably wonāt play this mode anymore or at least without cheating with ALT+F4 when the game decides it wants me to lose.
