Freelancer - General Discussion

More than syndicate types / optional objectives, you could go by the map pools at first. Either by how familiar with the maps you are or by what weapons you can pick up on them to fill the collection on the walls. The Freeloader document is handy in that regard:

Dubai for example is good to pick up a concealable silenced SMG (plus a silenced assault rifle) from the guards.

Have fun with freelancer. If you want to collect weapons and tools fast (and don’t want to spend a lot of mercs) I’ll recommend having a look into this topic. Also to find the leader based on the clues fast.

This is a pretty good way of looking at it to be fair :slightly_smiling_face:

How is the assassin one faster if you can only get it during a showdown whereas in sgail, you can make that in your very first mission?

I guess he meant faster in terms of time spent during the mission. It’s a bit of a hassle to dig up the pistol, since the two shovels on the map are not nearby. And there’s a bunch of other stuff you might want to collect on Sgail as well, so lots of running around already.

In comparison, there will be several assassins and multiple opportunities to quickly take one out to get the pistol during a showdown, which is better than the one from Sgail as well.

Well, you have to actually get Sgail as part of your mission lineup in your first syndicate. If it’s not there, you’re gonna get the opportunity to take from the assassins before you can dig up the opening Sgail.

You could always reroll the syndicate selection if you don’t get a level you want (just quit to the main menu and return to Freelancer, the syndicates will be different). I often do that to ensure Mendoza or Whittleton show up for showdowns.

(Besides, the DAK DTI from the Dubai guards is probably easier and quicker to get if you want a silenced weapon, than the assassin gun or the shitty Sgail gun)

I also do this to avoid objectives that I don’t want. I flatly refuse to begin a campaign that has any maps with Only Use One Disguise, Suit Only, Do Not Pacify, No Bodies Found, Hide Target Bodies, or when in New York, Doors Stay Locked (can’t access the security office or vault if you don’t start in the garage and you can’t go back into it once you leave).

Sure you can make it on your first mission IF the map is amongst them. The showdown is certain no matter the maps.

Are you sure you guys played this game? Like wtf. Lol

I’m actually speechless.

Well, I can’t speak for those guys, but yes, Freelancer has taken bio the vast majority of my gaming time since its release. And what eves said is in fact the case. Unless you’re suggesting that you restart each time you pick a contract if it doesn’t have Sgail until you get it, which in fairness is a viable strategy, but you didn’t say anything to indicate it was one you were using.

Happy New Year!
Maybe I’m late to the party, but you can always obtain desired/required tools on-level and with a supplier, to buy tools from him.
It’s not always guaranteed and supplier requests merces, but it’s an option.
In Dubai for example, you can ā€œborrowā€ silenced pistol from the event guards or whatever they called - in a white uniform.
Same pistol you can get not far from the hearse on side-backyard of the mansion in Dartrmoor, but I’m not sure if it’s still there in Freelancer specifically. I have vague memory that it’s still there though

I’m coming back to playing Freelancer each time when new Exclusive ET shows up, I’m already Prestique 5 lvl.

Oh boy, this mode need a hudge upgrade with new mechanisms, options, stuff to do. After 600hours in WoA I’m getting bored doing all over the same things.

Don’t get me wrong, I love this game and coming back to this mode, but I’m close to clear all achivements - and still want to play and buy new stuff. But everything is so repetitive.

I would love to see another part of WoA, a Hitman 4 with new missions. This framework is great and should get another game with new levels.

IOI c’mon do something!

I think Freelancer could use a lil’ update related to Assassins and Lookouts.

Simple put, I think we need some female assassins that can also guard suspects, for both sake of variety and having something akin Charlie’s Angels again like in H2: Silent Asassin. Edit: to complement this, maybe give them a different weapon instead the usual pistol, like a SMG.

As for the lookouts, I think having a single disguise that they can’t enforce would be a blessing. One that’s kinda hard to access and isn’t very practical around the map, so isn’t either an easy win.

This is definitely something this game needs the least, lol.

EDIT: Who marked this post as offensive?!?! Explain to me what is offensive about it?

47’s hands ensure an ample dose of femininity in the game.

Yeah, those big powerful hands that usually have a weapon in them. So feminine. I’ve honestly never understood this take or where it came from, 47’s hands have never appeared ā€œfeminineā€ in this game.

They are very delicate and soft. Definitely moisturized regularly.

Gosh yeah, that’d be so cool. Would also mean that some rare/unused character models get a chance to shine

Honestly the assassins need a bit of work in general. They pick from a very small pool of character models and it’s only half on purpose at most - the randomization is broken somehow and it only ever picks from the first 4 variations :[

That and some maps (especially Paris & Mumbai) have only one charset available to them anyway. Paris will only use the guests with open suit jackets & Mumbai will only use the ā€œbeardedā€ civs (i.e. the ā€œfakeā€ Maelstroms from when you’re trying to ID him)

Voice would be an issue, but they could record new stuff (which would be more likely considering co-op will have Knight playable) or even just make the assassins silent. That would also stop them outing themselves by talking in a voice that only guards have :p
