Freelancer - General Discussion

iirc, it got patched just before it became an unlock in the main game.

I can’t remember starting there either.

I’ve gotten this one multiple times over the past year alone.

I have no idea if the spawn location and time of day is truly random or not however

That’s interesting!

I’ve been playing Freelancer since launch consistently and I’ve never had 47 starting off in the Safehouse drinking wine at the table. Unless it’s come in as part of an update this year and it’s just luck if the draw it hasn’t been a starting point for me perhaps?

The wine drinking start has been there since Freelancer launched. Providing you have the kitchen island with that blend spot unlocked of course.

Honestly I’ve played Freelancer consistently since it launched and that start point in the Safehouse has never come up for me, until recently the other day.

Yeah I guess it’s just luck of the draw. You’d think it’s probably statistically the same chance on each start point but some do seem to come up more than others.

Yeah maybe that’s the case. Weirdly I haven’t had that starting point since that one time, but I’m going to keep an eye out now

Miss playing Freelancer. I won’t play because I maxed out on all the achievements.

Cultivate intrinsic motivation, bruh.

Can’t get the damn striker pistol. It’s the last one i need to go to the next prestige and it’s been 3 full campaigns, many loot boxes, all gun inventory people, all campaign bonus crates, etc etc. and i camt get it.

can i find it on a map? Or just just to keep waiting?

Have you tried leaving one or more wall items behind in your next mission, and then trying Suppliers when you have multiple empty spots?

Only if you’re using mods. (Freelancer variations, specifically The Undying’s version of Miami.)

I haven’t retired leaving a weapon behind. I’ll try that idea. Thanks.

I’m on ps4. So no mods unfortunately.

Happy new year!

I took the chance over the holidays to complete the campaign and started my Freelancer career. I love roguelites/likes and couldn’t wait to start with Freelancer. Any tips on the order of the campaigns? I started fresh so no silenced pistol yet and mistakenly accepted a campaign with silenced pistol kills as an objective, which went as expected. Just wondering if there is one you’d recommend to start out with.

Good to be back!

I think every syndicate type has objectives, that would be impossible to complete as a new player, since they require specific items. But honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about that in the beginning. Before you pick a syndicate you can see which objectives are part of it and as long as you would be able to complete at least some of it, that should be fine.

Also, choose syndicates not only based on the objectives, but also on what maps are part of it. You’ll have much more fun and success, if you focus on maps, that you feel comfortable with, and avoid more difficult maps for now.

On a final note, you definitely want to avoid Arms Trafficking at first, since it requires a lot of different weapons and is also more difficult than other syndicate types.

Every Assassin on the map carries a silenced pistol, so on your first showdown just lure one into a bathroom or someplace secluded.

You can also get one by digging it up in Isle of Sgail, but the assassin one is quicker honestly.

Best of luck :folded_hands:

It doesn’t really matter what order the campaigns are done in, although given the nature of the available contracts and the option to choose their order, you can have fun constructing your own scenarios.

For example, here’s what I usually do: two campaigns in a row, using each type of contract, in this order. First, start with an Assassination contract, because 47, being in business for himself, is not only going to want to collect the price on the head of that syndicate leader, but as a rival assassin, they could be going after the other available contracts as well, and so 47, being practical, will want to start by eliminating the competition. Next, an Arms Trafficking syndicate, as they are the ones who were supplying the Assassination syndicate, and all the others, their weapons. After that, an Espionage contract, as they are the ones who were providing the Assassination people their intel on their targets. Finally, conclude the campaign with a Psy Ops syndicate, as they were the ones who hired the Espionage to gather intel, the Arms Trafficking for their weapons, and the Assassination to take out specific targets, to further their goal of political upheaval with false flag operations.

Then the second campaign, start with a Sick Games contract, just because they’re particularly heinous and 47 isn’t fond of victimization even with his limited capacity for empathy. After that, an Organ Trafficking syndicate, whom were purchasing organs and other body parts gathered from the victims of the Sick Games people. Next, an Eco Crimes syndicate, although no direct connection exists between them and the previous two contracts… yet. Finally, end the campaign with a Big Pharma contract, as they were using the plant and animal samples gathered from the land the Eco Crimes syndicate were developing on to make their super expensive and unsafe medicines, as well as being the brokers of the harvested organs obtained by the Organ Trafficking people, and were thereby also working with the Sick Games syndicate by proxy.

There’s other combinations that can be done when thinking up the right motivations for the syndicates, of course, but you see how you can make it all fit together in a little story if you so choose. You can also imagine who the clients are: Vengence seekers, rival criminals, government agencies who can’t stop the syndicates through legal means, etc.
