Third campaign completed (no fails/no restarts), my Mastery glitched a bit so I unlocked one level higher in the safehouse than what it said at the end of the mission so I’m officially either level 40 or 41. Also, near the end I suddenly started getting about double the XP I used to get (about 20k instead of 10k for a perfect mission). I thought the syndicate complete bonus only went up by like 1k per syndicate. Do the XP bonuses really get that high and I just never noticed before?
The game gave me the challenge for doing 10 timed Prestige objectives when I hadn’t actually done 10 yet (and it unlocked after I had failed to do a Neutralize a Lookout objective). I don’t know if it’s my old PS4 or the game itself but I’ve had 4 crashes so far while playing Freelancer, all in different places. I also don’t know if it’s my console or the servers but there have been some visual issues in the menus. I can connect to the servers fairly fast, but the tile on the main screen showcasing things like Ambrose Island and the merch store usually doesn’t appear at all when I go to the menu. The new “Live” tab is similar, taking either several seconds to load or not showing up at all. In the inventory, several of the items just have a loading animation and never actually load the proper image.
Okay! So your Merces only gets cut in half if you die.
I just exfiltrated a Failed Lvl3 Showdown Mission that ended my campaign (again ugh), and I’m back at the safehouse with no tools, but the same amount of Merces! Cool!
Priority One when things go down the toilet: Exit, don’t engage!
Also yeah I just failed another Level 3 showdown because a target escaped… at least I was a lot closer this time, and could have gotten them just a second faster!
Is anybode else getting buggy music in the mode? I had instances in Sgail and New York where the (really annoying) “tension” tune would suddenly kick in after killing a target and wouldn´t stop till I killed another…
Moreover, in Chongqing the choral music is missing (though that one might be intentional) and the indoors Block music often doesn´t play even though it should…
I’m kinda surprised IO created a challenge for 100 campaigns. I’m currently working on my 20th one and the game is already giving me targets that I recognise and know exactly how to handle from previous missions.
Now I’m left somewhat underwhelmed that I may have already seen everything at only 20% of the way through the intended playthrough.
Played Freelancer for two days now. Some things I found out:
The objectives are very vague or just misleading. For example: I had these two objectives: “Headshot Kill” and “Collateral Accident”. I had three targets, killed the first with a headshot, killed the second with a headshot and killed the third together with a guard in an accident. The “Headshot”-objective was met and he accident one not.
The clues to identify the syndicate targets are more or less useless. You have to wait way to long to actually see some tell. And all the other clues are met by all the suspects (hat, glasses, tattoo, brown hair,…).
The meeting function kind of doesn’t work. It was an objective for me to arrange a meeting. I used the phone. I waited until everyone was there and gone again. The objective didn’t count. It’s just easier to not care about the merces and kill everyone.
Did anyone actually ever use the arms dealer for a mission? He never has anything I need. I just buy those things to complete my wall.
The “new” maps are interesting. New guards, new items (less items) and so on. I like that!
I start every mission with no loadout (so far). I’m too afraid to leave something behind.
I’m at mastery 11 or 12. And haven’t left the underground preparing bunker, yet. I just want to play the missions and I really don’t care about the rest of the safehouse. Am I missing something? Does decorating or exploring the safehouse have any advantages for the missions itself?
I think I might’ve found an useful tool on sale a few times, and once I considered buying a sniper rifle solely because targets were in annoying spots and I wanted to get rid of them fast. But most of the time I also used just to fill my collection.
I was also slightly worried at first, but I started getting more confident as I had several backup guns on the wall at all times and started getting a good grasp of how the mode works. And using various gear helps a lot with earning Merces from objectives, which feeds back into having plenty of spare arms.
All tools are wiped anyway when failing a campaign, so there isn’t much risk to packing every potentially useful thing from the briefcases for the showdowns and alerted missions as long as you have space in the pockets.
Some of the unlockable rooms have infinitely respawning items that can be taken on missions. Kitchen has a banana, garage has a battery, outside there’s an emetic mushroom and so on. Infirmary’s unlockable customisation also expands it with goodies.
I once have an objective “eliminate the target by using fragmentation grenade” while I have none, so I started the mission without it. Luckily on the map, I found the dealer that sell them & I can fulfill the objective.
Trying to give someone in an eco crimes syndicate a very bad day but bananas, water traps, & tasers all prevent each other from being placed Have to trip them up next to the puddle, then awkwardly drag them in myself & throw the taser on top
Had to do it or wouldn’t stop ringing in my head. Restarted a lot for the final showdown and other few times but until then I can’t believe I managed to get the timed missions first try. Alas, never again. This was frustrating to almost make me go bald from anger.
Because Kevin Rudd has the Frelenacer ToD mod he created one which most likely uses that map variation (I’m a console peasant so idk what variations there are)
I had the same bug in Sgail, IIRC it also happened to me during some contracts and usually it’s due to some NPC that doesn’t want to leave alert / panic mode.
This is the only location (I think) of propane flask in Isle of Sgail (non-alerted mission), next to Helicopter exit. I’ve been searching at many usual place but they isn’t there.
I see… That could´ve been the case with Sgail, since I killed the target using a gas tank explosion for a collateral accident kill, but in NY the kill was secluded and silent. So hopefully they´ll address this.
I have done a total of five showdowns (haven’t managed a campaign so far, but the current streak is going well). I’ve already encountered the same targets twice. The lady overlooking the pit on the church square in Sapienza and the guard walking in one of the secluded corners of the shooting barn in Colorado.
With all those NPCs around I’m really hoping this is a fluke.
