Freelancer - General Discussion

So far my possibly greatest moment of absent-mindness was when I was preparing for a showdown. One challenge was a poison kill, so I wanted to go upstairs to get free poison for a syringe. Walked up to main basement exit and pressed the interact button to open the door, only to realise fractions of a second before disaster that I was filling the “start mission” prompt. Almost threw myself into a showdown with nearly no gear.

Though getting gunned down during a hardcore campaign because I was too hasty while being escorted out of a trespassing zone still takes the award for dumbest I’ve gotten in this mode (so far).

25 campaigns done, only another 75 to go for that damn challenge. :disappointed:

Not bad! Spawned in Dartmoor right next to a target - figured I could bip them into the water with a sniper and run.

I can’t wait till I’m done with the headshot challenge - sick of lugging around this huge sniper.

There is a Glitch, close the game when last campaigns exit cutscene starts

Cheating is lame.

begging this game to stop offering me the safe prestige challenge for a location that has no safe

In Hokkaido, leg shot → pacify has not worked on the mountain path, but this used to work reliably even in Master mode in the normal game. In Freelancer when I leg shot an NPC on the path, he staggers as normal but there is NO prompt whatsoever to pacify

Latest step of my “what I want to do in Freelancer before slowing down for the sake of my sleep schedule” achieved : all the challenges demanding ten completion of each syndicate type are properly done.

By the look of the trophies presentation in the basement, I guess we can expect 4 other syndicate types to be released later this year

Next step : Mastery 87 to see what those memorabilia art are about (please be something about Grey) or the “50 in each location” challenges, whichever arrives first (eight are done, most others are at 40-45. Surprisingly Mumbai is the lowest one at only 25)

(Also : 1.000.000 Merces achieved)

Happened to me today in Mumbai as well :expressionless:

Hope it gets fixed.

I have died a lot, lost an epic sniper rifle, and not completed a campaign yet. To be fair I haven’t had TOO much time with the mode…

But I’m here to tell you that I could retrieve the contents of Strandberg’s safe without opening it. I was crouched to the right of it (if you’re facing it) and a prompt came up. Don’t know if this can be replicated, or if it’s cross platform. I was on Xbox. It had the Guru’s emetic grenade, which I thought was a fun little surprise, especially considering my Xbox account doesn’t have the H3 Deluxe pack.

shareable point, you’re still free (since it’s a singleplayer game) to choose to have bad game design choices made by a commonsense Danish programmer consume 600 hours of your existence. I don’t know the challenge creation process but someone could very well wake up in the morning and put 10 instead of 100 to make everything more accessible to the community, or someone could take a look at the fact that you need 150,000 experience points to go from level 89 to 90, and maybe wondering if it’s worth making company production costs unattainable goals (the last unlockables need much more than 100 campaigns). With 2 degrees followed in Switzerland (economics and design) the choices of this company go beyond my understanding and I wonder why there is no supervision that applies a minimum of common sense to what is happening to the users who just want to unlock the game content

Doesn’t make it any less lame.

a little less, yes there is a limit to everything and if to unlock two pieces of furniture, a suit and a helicopter in a secondary mode of a completely offline game I have to spend resources equivalent to hundreds of hours, I prefer to act intelligently and circumvent game design errors . it does no harm to other players or even io Interactive’s finances. The dlcs they released are objectively crap but I only bought them to support the company so I have no malicious intentions towards IOi, just common sense from my time

Or just play the game lol

Well to be fair, there are battle passes and trophies/achievements both in online and offline games that are much more disrespectful of a player’s time than this.

Game needs millions of EXP at a Point you can’t really believe it’s intentional but only a result of the underestimation of the exponential factor
Feel free to spend your life on unlocking Freelancer kitchen lol

Welcome to levelling up in video games - it’s designed for a long term period, not overnight. This isn’t even a long grind by any standards.

Nobody cares if you have to cheat to level up in Hitman, you do you. But there’s no point with paragraphs which basically says “it’s too long to level up” trying to convince anyone but yourself.

the leveling system is broken and impracticable. you’ll need literally hundreds of hours at standard rates to get to level 100. Feel free to think this is normal, I’ve only proposed a solution for people who thinks the Same as me. For others, enjoy using your time however you want. I just wanted to anticipate, for those who think it’s a normal experience, that, at least for me, the leveling system increases in a disproportionate way. At level 89 about 150k is required, previously I have accumulated 2.5 million, which means that in the best case: 2.5 million + 150k x 11 = About 4 million. The Challenges only pay a maximum of 4000 and with an average completed mission you receive 5000 if you play well, it means playing 1000 games, which means 400 hours of play considering 6 minutes per game… without loading times. All numbers rounded in favor of the lowest possible result. You call It leveling in videogames, i call It bad design choice or error in calculating level values. I really like Hitman and I already have 500 hours in the game but doing the same thing again with the same content of Freelancer… I’ll pass

I don’t want to ask what might be a dumb question, but does the contents of the chest replenish every time you return to the safe house? Or is it like a one time reward?
