Made it to my 2nd showdown, but it’s Colorado.
Their tells are hidden under their hats and I can’t get close enough for all the enforcers to see.
Aborted the campaign in frustration losing loot & coin.
Lesson is to hit the tricky destination first and not leave it to the showdown.
I’m dying to get outside! ![]()

Loving everything so far! ![]()
The irony of a lot of us taking time off work to spend time at home playing freelancer - and our main goal is to get outside in the game.
Well luckily it doesn’t take a long time to get there, in one campaign you get the levels easily. I’ve got the helicopter too as the last thing I’ve unlocked. ![]()
That’s enough for today. Third failed campaign in a row.
Yet again I’ve picked the wrong target - they all have hats or grey hair or whatever. Do they have a tattoo? I’ve no idea, I can’t see it.
I’ll see how I feel tomorrow but right now this is more irritating than enjoyable and I may jack it in here.
I wonder if it came up in the technical test how frustrating it is to try to spot one of half a dozen almost identical people.
It helps to take a photo of them, that way you can take your time, looking for tattoos on their hands or necks or something!
can always try again tomorrow! Good luck!
Okay, all that seems pretty fair for Hardcore. All alerted territories, losing all merces and tools upon failure, but uhh…
What the heck is up with that Prestige change?!
If you fail that objective, does that mean you fail the mission/campaign?! That’s insanity
That is fucking funny, man, not gonna lie!
So, some observations after 4 hours of play. I’m currently running around trying different things to test the mechanics.
I think some of them will be interesting to discuss :
- The number of suspects as the campaign progresses are as follow : 4 - 6 - 6 - 9
- The malus for a non target elimination is 50 Merces.
- The malus for a non leader suspect elimination is 1000 Merces
- The “solution” to the body container cheese strategy is to forbid the dumping of all knocked out suspect. You will need to eliminate them to hide them. (I reiterate my displeasure at this, an entire part of the gameplay of showdown is voided for all to address the cheesing strategy of a minority)
- Guard eliminations do not take any money. They are all free for the taking.
- Challenges are currently bugged. Do not despair. It’s in our favour. The games seems to count some things twice at a time. I have one completed one campaign, and nothing else. I nonetheless have a 2 out of 50 for the Slow But Steady challenge. And also 7 leaders eliminated somehow. And 71 members for the GOAT.
- Mastery is relatively fast. 17 after a campaign. And I did not try to complete all objectives. I think we can expect to complete the mastery in 5 to 10 campaign worth of play. Challenges might take from 50 to 100.
- The mastery unlocks can be lost during mission. I guess that the are added in the store and reward pool as a consequence.
- I would like to have others observation, but in my case the reward for a full campaign was a legendary item.
- A campaign fail does not mean the lost of equipment on the wall. Only the tools. Apparently it happened in the CTT, so I wish to mention it.
Hardcore Mode :
- The interface becomes red.
- It’s hard. Proper Hard. I pray that there is no way to have three timed prestige objectives at once.
- If you fail a prestige objective during the mission, you don’t have directly a fail screen. The mission objectives crosses out. Your Merces are taken. The game directs you to exit, but you can do it as calmly as you want. You will be met with a campaign fail screen.
I got a goldballer, also a legendary item.
Yeah this feels too harsh. It would have been enough to just have the other complications.
I have a question for people who have played the full version: Is the bug of your Merces getting halved when you close and reopen the game, after completing a mission fixed?
I’ve got a problem on PC. There is no sound of Diana talking. No “Safe journey, 47” etc. No introduction into showdown about leader clues, nothing. Diana is silent.
Just drooling in to say I think it’s hilarious that the restroom is locked off until mastery level 4. My 47 can’t even take a dump right now.
Holy SHIT. I can’t believe what I am seeing, this Freelancer mode is literally my vision of Hitman I had in 2012 when Absolution came out and now its real. It took a while, though better late than never I guess. I haven’t played it yet but, is there actually a currency system now? Fuck me.
Just failed the campaign on the final mission. I was too impatient and didn’t check out the suspects for long enough. Don’t be like me and go “ah that’s two out of three tells, that’ll do.”
Gutted, but we go again.
#RIPBOZO
Diana said to me few words when I finished showdown. For the rest of game She is still silent.
7 hours later (including some short bathroom/kitchen breaks) I’ve finished my first campaign, surprisingly on first attempt too, though there were some very close calls.
This mode is pretty much exactly what I expected, and by that I mean that it’s awesome. I would play more if it weren’t way past midnight while I have things to attend tomorrow.
The removal of SA did make me play more sloppily, but I think it’s a good thing, since I ended up in a lot of exciting situations where I had to make up escape plans on the fly in order to not fail an entire campaign.
My campaign reward was a legendary Shortballer.
Aaand it happened again in the exact same spot.
Why didn’t IOI get rid of the original targets in their respective map? Feels so weird bumping into them knowing that they were already assassinated lol
At the very least, they should’ve been replaced with a new NPC to make it so like the business or whatever hired a new person. The bank in New York would’ve hired a new CEO after the original target died, different patients would be visiting Hokkaido, a new celebrity in Paris, etc.
Interesting. But was this adressed at me or maybe another person?
I hope that IOI can add some more accessibility to menu UI and text, let us make them larger or bolded
I find reading some of the location objectives text in the Safehouse can be hard, even on a TV across the room.
Sometimes reading target intel for the main game missions is also hard.
This is so weird. Methinks this has something to do with something on the horizon, maybe a new escalation or something grander ![]()
