At least until they make it so only 47 or an NPC can set it off…

After my most recent campaign was completed today I decided to start Hardcore mode. I’ve done the first campaign without much issues. First mission was on Miami, second on Berlin, and the Showdown on Mendoza. The hardest thing in the first two missions was remembering that disguises can get ruined. For the Showdown the prestige objective I chose was eliminate a leader as they’re escaping, so I was able to go up to the top balcony with the Sieger 300 Ghost, fire a few rounds until the leader was alerted and then shoot them.

As for hardcore mode in general, so far it’s not too bad, but I know all it’ll take is one bad draw of Prestige Objectives to make my opinions flip. My plan is to generally avoid choosing campaigns with the 2016 locations since I think they’re a lot harder on Master than 2’s or 3’s locations. Swapping to Hardcore finally gave me a reason to use the Collector’s tools. Also, it gave Suppliers a purpose again since I had a complete inventory on Normal.

Had a pretty nice session today. Completed my 2nd hardcore campaign & also hit level 69.

Good luck with your next run! :+1:t2::grin:

Should hopefully hit level 100 tomorrow. After that I can chill with it and just play it more leisurely.

Haven’t got much work done at all.

Well, that wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be.

Had one failure early on and an Alt+F4 (well, the PlayStation equivalent) because I screwed up SA on a Prestige Objective 10 missions in and didn’t want to start completely over. I focused solely on the POs, avoided Colorado and Haven entirely and saved Miami for three of my four Showdowns.

I mostly got lucky with the POs, getting a lot of the Weapon Kill variations. I was forced to take a couple of plain Timed ones and SA - No Firearms once, but neither was a bad as it could have been.

To anyone who played in the CTT : was a watch a possible look trait for the leader back then ?

Because it still passes by when the analyse is rolling, but never happens.

I think I remember that it was possible back then, but then possibly impossible to see it under sleeves, which might explain why it was removed. But I’m not sure.
Even though I think it would have been easier to see than the tatoos. (those damn tatoos). At least you know where to look for a watch.

I’m pretty sure I remember having a watch as a look trait in the CTT. Didn’t even notice it had gone tbh.

Just played Hardcore for the first time after finishing all the gear walls and reaching mastery 50 - having just lost a campaign on the final showdown I had no tools to lose in the switchover.

First two levels (Santa Fortuna and Haven Island) were tense but reasonably fun and I definitely got lucky with the Prestige Objectives but wasn’t expecting the massive ramp up in difficulty for the Showdown. Paris, 9 targets and what seemed like 10 assassins and 20 lookouts and so many other enforcers. Unfortunately got into a shootout in the little locked off garden (where The Sensation ET happens) and my lack of knowledge of that area got me spotted and shot down.

Presumably they’re all that level, right - they don’t get harder than that?

Hardcore is a real step up from Normal mode, and I kind of want to stick with the mode for the achievements but sheesh, I wouldn’t call the showdowns “fun”.

Finished the third hardcore syndicate; I’m not gonna go for the fourth one tonight. I feel like even on Hardcore mode 12 suspects is too many, because there were only 4 that matched the physical descriptions. It still wasn’t hard narrowing them down, just very tedious. I also think the Lookout spamming is too excessive with 3-4 per area, and the final Showdown probably has even more.

One good thing about the mode is all the XP it gives, I’ve now finally passed level 1000 after stagnating at the 700s/800s for a year and a half.

Are there any more shed unlocks? I hate to be a Heisenberg about this, but I don’t see 47 having either a big rainbow shed or a shed full of graffiti. Unpainted it is, I suppose.

lol. If you have the “Distract Target” objective, if you bump into suspects while they’re performing a tell, it counts as a distraction (doesn’t count when they aren’t doing a tell) if they are the target.

Easy way to identify them if the area isn’t alerted so they aren’t an enforcer.

Even if the area is alerted, just put on a non guard uniform and you can wonder around freely.

This is my first post since playing freelancer. I’m a trucker and play whenever I can.

I have had some good and awful heartbreaks and have had to really watch out and make adjustments.

I’m at master 32 and finally getting some good weapons.

I noticed the mix of professional and master levels, I don’t think they used casual yet. Example Paris I have played 6 x and most were professional but few were master. Difference the master key is in a different spot on master vs in basement on pro.

My favorite map for freelancer - Colorado

I know this maybe of shock but think about it. Guards are free kills unless you chose silent assassin or SA/SO

I also started to notice a pattern with safe codes.

Example Marrakesh, basement of Consulate building. Every time the safe is there, they laptop by the safe, the files in closet where screwdriver is, and coffee table in the room next to stairs leading up is a tablet. Every single time as long as safe is in basement.

Hope it helps

I inadvertently shot my stock market screen today (set the controller down, and while you can’t aim, the rifle still fires).

Of course the screen was destroyed, and I decided to roll the dice and play the market a second time (blindly).

Success!

Was your screen fixed when you came back or is it still wrecked?

You can buy a new 70 inch TV from the supplier, just don’t take it out of the briefcase or it won’t go back in

Small questions regarding the Hardcore mode:

  • When HC mode is launched, all tools are removed.
  • When you switch back from HC mode to normal mode, all tools are also lost. But not your merces!
  • If you fail a mission on HC, ALL merces are lost (not the half).

Am I correct? Can someone can confirm or infirm these claims. I think I have read those somewhere but I don’t remember where.

Depending on the answers, I will adapt my runs. Also, I’ll probably only start HC mode when I’ll obtain all weapons (to save my merces).

Also, is there an “ALT+F4” option on PS5? I’m not a fan of it, but I think I will not have the same patience in HC mode.
My first goal is to achieve at least the first syndicate. Will see what’s next.

Speaking of which, is the broadsword one of our Freelancer weapons? Because it absolutely should be.

One thing about Freelancer that I really love, which hasn’t gotten too much attention, is the ability to view weapons and tools in close up, full 3D detail.

Back in the day you had to place an item on the ground, walk around it, then bust out your sniper — or camera, come H3. And you still could only manage a half-assed look.
