Because without knowing what changes are made to the maps and NPCs to accommodate Freelancer, and what to expect from the targets and what the optional conditions are, I won’t know what items to bring or how to properly prepare to get the targets alone without resorting to measures outside the parameters, such as having to use disguises without gloves, or being forced to knock out NPCs in ways that require me to hide the bodies while still trying to trigger an accident kill, all things that don’t align with the HPP.
Not to mention, at first, I might not even have access to things like the emetic or tranquilizer guns and assorted items that allow me to maneuver NPCs into the right situation to make the HPP work, because if we start with no inventory items and have to buy our entire armory again in Freelancer, it’ll be extraordinarily difficult, perhaps impossible.
So, I’m going to have to prepare for the real possibility that I won’t be able to go into this at the beginning adhering to them, much like when beginning the main game for the first time. Which particularly sucks, because the carryover from H1 and H2 allowed me to begin H3 adhering to it right from the get-go. Was hoping to do that with Freelancer, but the more we see, the more I think that won’t be likely, at least at first.
Last night I broke down… (not literally), and googled ‘Hitman freelancer’ and images. I came across 1 image I hadn’t seen before (or if I did see it before - I’d forgotten about it). And it gave me a small bit of satisfaction. I don’t think I need to have any leaks revealed yet, but needless to say that Oct. 27th can’t come soon enough.
A few crumbs here and there in the meantime couldn’t hurt. That’s all I’m saying.
Like everyone else in slightly bummed it’s not coming till the end of Jan, but Hitman games are always behind schedule so I expected it. Glad to finally have a date set and more info about it!
Unknown at this point. According to them Freelancer is still Year 2 regardless of when it comes out. We’d all love a year 3, they know that, if they can make money they will go for it, so we just have to wait and see.
There’s an idiot on reddit/Discord trying to falsely spread word that Freelancer is the start of Year 3 despite multiple people telling them they’re wrong. Yet they continue.
Oh it’s that person. While technically what they’re saying is true, it’s in the literal 3rd year after Hitman 3’s launch. Year 2 actually started before their definition of Year 2, which means Elusive Target Arcade released in Year 1 by their calendar.
Oh, and IOI can control when their arbitrary period for marketing starts/ends.
I believe it was Travis here in this thread that said it was “TBD” (to be decided), so maybe we are or aren’t getting a year three, it all’s up in the air right now and too soon to tell. But if all the unlocks stop with freelancer and a few other small things that players wanted, I’ll be totally fine with that.
I got more than my fair share of time out of the trilogy and i throughly can’t wait to see what IO will do in the future and further evolve the mechanics and franchise as a whole. I think IO is in a really good spot right now with the end of the trilogy and Project 007 seems to be in good hands.
Would depend on what the “Year 3” content would be tbh. By the time we get to it, if it’s just the ETs that didn’t get #2’d (which would probably only be about 9-10 from H1) and another cycle of the H3 ETs, Arcade contracts and some FCs - I would say no.
Other than the launch of the Arcade, Ambrose Island and (eventually) Freelancer, Y2 has been a bit lackluster. I’d rather just see the live content come to an end than see it just limping along just for the sake of it.
