I’m really hoping so, will be really interesting if this is the route IOI have gone down.
Only for now, though. This is not how the games should be going forward, 47 having to do all this low-level work with pissant sub-targets before getting to the big fish. He and Diana need to build a new ICA off of their profits from this enterprise so someone else can do the ground work to find out about the targets and 47 can just go after them, as had been the case all along. Make Freelancer a detour, IOI, not the road forward.
I don’t think we’ll be getting any actual answers to the future of the franchise in Freelancer. Those things get saved for the next actual game. Like, I don’t believe Diana will be in the mode.
If it even falls into canon, this seems like 47 experiencing his craft outside of any type of overseeing agency to determine if he indeed wants to keep doing it.
Really depends on how it is presented. Could just be a cutscene intro with the intricacies, like how he obtains these contracts, not addressed.
I’m assuming this stuff will fall into canon, but will just be an in between phase, not really relevant or impactful of whatever comes next. It’s just showing how 47 kept busy until the next game, and us as well.
Even if this is post-Hitman 3, this will be just a way of explaining a big gap in 47’s career. Keep in mind there’s like twelve years of his life in the old games we dont see
I mean it was in 2016 and it was a perk for some of the weapons, so you couldn’t use it with all the guns, it’s definitely something that could work with Freelancer in a way, so it’s balanced and not too powerful
I wouldn’t be against its return (just like human shields
), they have a few perks that went unused like Crowd Control, which makes it so the weapon doesn’t kill but people get knocked out, like a beanbag shotgun
I wouldn’t mind point shooting making a comeback as a perk for a gun cough double Silverballers cough. I would reduce the distance from which you can target NPCs though, if I’m not mistaken, you could snipe NPCs across the levels in Absolution.
This is the way I think it’s going to goad well.
After how you’ve explained it, it think it will all be a canon game mode focusing on Diana and 47, however, it will just be a way of filling in some small gaps until the next game.
I’m hoping it’s going to explain how 47 and Diana acquired the safe house area because the cutscene at the end of Hitman 3 and the safe house in the Year 2 announcement trailer look in the same kind of area.
Yeah it was pretty powerful, that old video from Notex shows how it worked in H2016 with a sniper, but the principle is the same with any other weapon that had this perk:
Oh man, I wish this was active in the game. Screw any moaners citing balance, in my single-player game I would absolutely love to have some power-fantasy fun like this.
Yeah it’s really fun to play with, there’s a bunch of potential for Freelancer to bring those cut perks back, who knows…
Would be loads of fun in the main game too. Come on IOI, throw us a bone and give us a power spike for fooling around with.
Huh. I hadn’t thought of that before, nice.
Listen to @scat1620, y’all.
Imagine having point shooting available for the Hirschmuller meeting in Berlin. Or the Talented Mr Rieper showdown in Mendoza.

As an recently-convicted moaner, I would love it too. Nothing to do with balance here, as it is not providing you with a free accident kill.
Would be an awesome addition, and fitting for the universe and 47’s character.
Definitely looks the same area from when we last saw 47 at the end of the campaign.
As soon as @Heisenberg said about Freelancer taking place after the main Hitman 3 campaign, that’s what made me go back and look at the similarities of the locations.
I had wondered about that, where 47 had his house built (purchased?). It’s not the same cabin we saw, that was one of Diana’s hideaways. It might be near, though we don’t really know where hers was. I’ve theorized on it before, that it doesn’t really look like a forest found in North America, except perhaps Canada.
More likely, and for sentimental reasons (insofar as 47 is capable of sentimentality), I theorize that it’s either in the UK (Diana), in Germany (Grey), or Romania (his birth and the end of Providence).
I’m going with Romania. ![]()
Heck. Let’s make a poll!
- UK
- Germany
- Romania
- Some other place

When Freelancer goes live, I don’t know what version number the game will have, but I’m going to call it HITMAN III.V
.
I get Finland vibes from the woods there.
