Whatever progress you make in this current test version will not carry over in January.
But as for things you have in the trilogy (like suits or weapons, tools, etc.)… I don’t really know. I think they’ll be separate so you can earn everything back. If you could carry things over to FL then that might make you OP’ed and be much less of a challenge.
Anything else (as to how to get whatever) we’ll all have to see. But I’m sure it’ll be based on XP. Or some of it might be tied to challenges.
I bet we won’t have any of our gear from the main game. And I don’t mind. There wouldn’t really be much to achieve in Freelancer for fans like us in that case? The main game is always there for us to enjoy all of hard-earned gear.
Yeah, I’ve been wondering as well. Since it’s the same kind of menu, maybe with suits in particular, it will be the ones from the main game. We can only guess at this point!
Good that you ask. We are so caught up in sharing our feedback for what needs to be fixed (me included), so that the actual appreciation for this very free mode that we’re getting two years after release is getting a bit lost in the fray. Perspective is key.
It’s really good, yes, and it has the potential to be amazing.
Freelancer (the showdown maps especially, but the rest at least in part) is very much NOT designed to be done suit only. In normal suit only play, there are areas of the maps that you would naturally avoid. There is just no reason to be in the middle of that room that Desantis’ squad is in unless you’re in a disguise, but in Freelancer, that might be where the suspect or target is.
There’s “challenge” and “logical”. Is it a challenge to do Freelancer suit only? yeah, but is it logical? Absolutely not.
I think the final showdowns are too crowded with enforcers which is never really a recipe for good Hitman gameplay. I get that it has to feel tense, the whole danger of losing all your progress. But that is enough in itself imo.
I was on the top floor of Dartmoor and you couldn’t really traverse the area at all, no matter the disguise, because it was basically filled with enforcers and subjects. This made for a weird type of gameplay of dodging enforcers while zooming in on subjects in an erratic manner. Not really fun.
imo they should really just cut down on the amount of suspects and maybe cut down on the amount of traits you have to guess at. Simplify it all. It’ll be tense enough as is, and way more enjoyable.
For all of you lucky SOBs who have gotten to play the test, I’m curious to ask a question:
What, if anything, would you want added to Freelancer right now? As opposed to regular rebalances and stuff. (and probably also excluding more maps, that was already polled)
-A slightly higher rate of new NPCs as targets. They exist (not just in showdowns), but not in an influential quantity.
-Probably heard here way too many times, but a chance of your safehouse being raided.
In my opinion, very much so. It’s not gonna be for everyone though.
The safe house is amazing, and the showdowns are an interesting, new experience.
The “bread and butter” missions are basically like user created contracts, but the inability to restart, the desire to make money and the fear of failing adds something that contracts don’t have.
I want anything we have in the main campaign to be available in Freelancer, and anything we can obtain and keep in Freelancer available in the main campaign. So far, I’m seeing some things from both inventories that are missing in the other.
