Game News Thread

Even to this day I still remember most of the characters from SR3 all because they were memorable and unique from other games. Shame that Volition wants to distance itself from what made the series funny

They’d need Microsoft’s AI and cloud platforms for Neom :man_shrugging:

I would like to categorically state for the record I didn’t think it was a problem though to be fair I should think you know I am not that type of person. I was merely saying that the complains “wokeness” was symptomatic of a lot of fans not having any valid concerns about the quality of the game before release, they managed to drown out people that had valid concerns.

But like I said it doesn’t matter because no amount of effort could undo the game’s quality, the game just seems to have had a cracked foundation and then the house caved in because of it.

The Weebatar has totally used his “right to free speech” as a defence for shouting slurs when he loses. I mean even if it was real it shouldn’t be a problem, they have every right to have opinions on current events and express them. If anything the framing is actually kind of clever, seemingly too clever for it to have been the game’s actual writers it seems.

But as a brief aside can I just mention if there was ever another medium and creative industry that is being undercut in both its quality and in its perception by others then the Weebs and the Gamers are doing a good job in their race to the bottom.

I have spent time on my country’s unemployment programs so I can definitely say I would be more productive and richer had I simply turned to crime. Also technically poor and young people are most likely to commit crime since they are poor and young.

The new Destiny 2 expansion looks awesome, they’re bringing in an awesome looking Cyberpunk esque city on Neptune, as well as a new subclass with… grappling hooks??

Lightfall is the equivalent of Infinity War within the Destiny universe, with our Endgame coming in 2024, if anyone is interested, all available expansions are free to play until August 29th.

Check out this video if you’re interested in catching up to speed, its only 5 minutes

I find it cute that the sociopathic nobleman is so dedicated to his delusional collection of pipedreams. MENA despots always have such a strong dedication to their wildly dysfunctional megacity projects.

I don’t think we were expecting so many reveals as we did at Gamescom, but if you’ve not caught them yet, here are a four that caught my attention.

Atlas Fallen - World Premiere Reveal Trailer

Lies of P Gameplay Trailer

That New Tales from the Borderlands trailer sure was… a trailer.
It doesn’t look awful but hasn’t hooked me in any way.
I don’t know what engine Gearbox uses but the graphics are pretty detailed. No real gameplay though. I wonder if they’ll copy the original point-and-click format

They say there’s members from the original writing team on this but I can’t find specifically who. And the term “key alumni” keeps getting repeated in press releases so I’m worried it’s all overblown just for marketing-speak.

Edit: oh my god the “key alumni” is Kevin Bruner. He’s got NewTFTB on his web page. He nearly destroyed Telltale from the inside out. What horrible irony he’s back on this.

Telltale’s The Expanse looks good.
Deck Nine is developing and Telltale is writing for it.

The environments look good and the ship exploration looks like it should be fun. I like the stylized realism they’re going for.
No other real gameplay, but it feels like choices will be involved once again.

Not too invested, but I’ll probably have to get into the show to understand what’s going on. It being a prequel to it is a good choice.

I skimmed over the rest of the gamescom stream, not too much interested me.

The Lies of P game looks really interesting.
I don’t know why everyone’s got Pinocchio projects coming out all of a sudden but this one is the most eye-catching adaptation to me.

Steampunk Pinocchio aw yeah.

Because it is public domain which means basically anyone can make Pinocchio so long as you don’t make him look like the Disney one.

That is why there are so many Pinocchio’s that have the whole world to see.

Ahh didn’t know about that thanks

Same reason we’re getting Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey…

It only took a studio closure to have them change that engine that they have been using since 2005

I used to be a massive Borderlands fan, and as someone who loves the original Tales From the Borderlands, that trailer is… interesting, I guess? Pretty sure I saw Rhys for a brief second there, so would be nice to see more of him, or indeed, any other Borderlands regulars. Setting the game on Promethea is a real deep cut since that planet was brought up all the way back in the Borderlands 1 expansion, General Knoxx, and Athena’s backstory is about the planet being a hellscape.

But yeah, not feeling too hyped. The fact the game comes out in 2 months seems a bit… concerning. The Steam page says the game is split into 5 chapters, making me wonder if at some point they wanted to make this episodic. £35 for the standard version isn’t too bad, assuming its about 8-10 hours like the original. But this does also whiff off “shit, we cocked up, lets just get this out and fast as possible and bury it.”

It doesn’t help that I really don’t like the designs of the 3 major characters, Anu especially looks really weird and I can’t quite pinpoint why.

Still need to play the BL3 expansions and get Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The main story for Borderlands 3 was a real damp squib and really screwed over several characters, including one of my absolute favourites, and I don’t really get the sense that anyone knows how to push the story and lore of Borderlands forward.

Fran is actually mentioned by Rhys in 3 since Katagawa blows up one of her shops when he has control over that asteroid mining laser and is blowing up things Rhys likes to pressure him into merging with Maliwan.

That’s interesting. I’ve only played through properly like twice through, compared to 1 which I’ve done at least 6 times, and 2 and TPS I’ve played through at least a dozen times each. Borderlands is weird in how it has a surprising amount of lore and depth, but at the same time it often feels very untapped for potential.

Yeah, I hope New Tales is good. They said some of the people working on it were also on the original so I have some hope for it still, so far it is one of the few things from yesterday’s Gamescom stream to interest me.
