Crime doesn’t pay on Steam

Well I´m obviously very happy about this (also considering that Ubi Support actually fixed my AC3 server-connection issue - or is it because of this decision? - and I can thus finish the whole thing this month), but it baffles me why on Earth did they wait with that announcement literally until the last day? I mean you´d expect them to try to contain the blowback asap. And while my DLC access is secured, I hope they will eventually patch those games to make that content available for future players. This solution is rather temporary…

Anyways, guess I can edit those condemning reviews on Steam now, lol.

I have mixed feelings here. If the rumours are accurate, then I´m happy to see an AC game that drops the bloated open world and RPG mechanics in favour of a more “scripted” story-focused experience, hopefully centred more around the stealthy aspects of the gameplay, and set in the Middle East no less. Makes me almost feel excited for an Ubi game for the first time in god knows how many years.

On the other hand, it probably won´t be on Steam (not in the near future anyway), my laptop won´t be able to run it with a sufficient framerate and visual quality regardless, and it will still likely come with a bunch of DRM-protected DLCs which I´d lose access to in less than a decade

Metal Gear Solid V TPP turned 7 today, which marks 7 years since my Freshman Orientation of High School. Feel old yet?

Kojima Tweeted about the anniversary.

Oh I have to play as Basim. Did they finally run out of interesting Assassins to make games about?

I like to call it creative bankruptcy even though they know the fanbase doesn’t like basim.

Giving it was a scrapped AC Valhalla DLC its probably not going to have anything new or good in it. Lets hope im wrong as i loved the classic AC games!

I may be one of the only people who sorta does like him.. I want to know more of his past thats all.

It looks like the UK’s Competition and Marketing Authority are not going to rubber stamp Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision / Blizzard. They are inviting a more in-depth “phase 2” investigation from an independent panel before a decision can be reached.

It’s good to see the UK authorities are doing their job by asking these searching questions, but I really liked Phil Spencers follow-up and his transparency and willingness to answer the challenges.

It should also be pointed out that the UK are quite console agnostic when it comes to these matters. The Competition Appeal Tribunal recently filed a £5 billion (~$5.9 billion) law-suit against Sony for overcharging people for games.

Well if the remasters+remake rumours are indeed true, that would be nice, particularly if MGS3 finally makes it to PC. Though if it happens, fingers crossed that they’ll actually optimize the games for PC controls properly…

what an absolute fuckwit

Amazing how some people can´t keep their idiotic worldviews to themselves or at least vent them in a different environment then the one that is potentially generating them revenue. You can´t let people who might buy your game know that you´re a fuckwit :man_shrugging:

Particularly since the game actually looked really interesting. I added it to my wishlist a while back, but after noticing the controversies surrounding the author and his patch notes (the anti-mask ones at that time), I postponed any intention to buy indefinitely (which has now become definite apparently).

I’d argue that’d be worse and only intensify the problem – if they can find an echo chamber of their own twisted views, it could only reinforce them rather than having it be challenged in the court of public opinion.
