Ah. According to the Rockstar X/Twitter the trailer had already leaked, so they brought the official release forward.
Was meant to release at 9am ET on December 5th. It’s currently 6:28PM ET on December 4th.

Oh yeah I forgot it had an exact time and everything. I don’t give a shit because I am so fucking ready, they went and made Florida Man the Game.
Twerk it, baby, twerk it!
Looks like Vice City turned into Florida!
Take these broken wiiiiiiiiiiiiii-
In other news a trailer for TLOU2 Remastered’s No Return Mode was released today. Kinda got overshadowed by GTA6’s trailer but I guess they weren’t planning on Rockstar releasing the trailer a bit early.
I’m really pleased by what I’m seeing in it! It looks like there’s a decent amount of variety in terms of mission types and modifiers (Including invisible enemies!). I’m also surprised that there’s 10 unique characters to play as, I was only expecting like 4-6. Joel didn’t appear in the trailer at all though, maybe they want to keep him more of a surprise? The gameplay was by far my favorite aspect of TLOU2, so I’m glad they’re giving it more time to shine!
Leaked Early so they pivoted to get it out early.
Jason and Lucia are the two playable protagonists, their relationship and storyline will be more Bonnie and Clyde based.
Map will be drastically larger than Los Santos with various cities and sub cities. The State is called Leonida which is the home of Vice City.
Will be using the Volumetric Cloud system that RDR2 had.
The Song used in the trailer seems intentional and could hint Jason and Lucias relationship during the story.
Police System is advanced and will be more be more tactical in their approach to the player.
Parodying various aspects of Florida and the streamer/social media influencer age of the internet.
Judging from the 2025 release year. Rockstar could be pushing for Spring 2025, but that means Fall 2025 since Rockstar is notorious for their delays.
A majority of interiors will be enterable.
Lastly and most important detail is Vice Point, Ocean View Hotel, and Malibu Club will return with new HD Universe interpretations.
Edit: also want to add a lot of systems from RDR2 will persist into GTA 6 so don’t expect gameplay to be closer to GTA 5.
I’ll be honest, I’m looking forward to it. I mean to me, yes, the open world genre has become over saturated, but honestly, I think GTA V still holds up 10 years lately as a quintessential open world title, and I would imagine GTA VI will do the same at pushing things forward. As Swang talks about, to me, the most exciting idea, is that the map is a proper state with various cities and stuff. I adored the map of San Andreas, and how much milage I got out of that game was from the great way it incorporated LA, San Francisco, and Las Vegas, and everything inbetween the cities. There’s a reason why San Andreas became the host of so many urban internet rumours about secrets hiding in the map.
I guess I have some concerns. Considering how much the inevitable online component will be a main stay of this, hopefully the single player doesn’t feel hollowed out in favour of online. I haven’t played RDR2 but considering the mixed stuff I hear about how that game handled mechanics like crafting and hunger, I hope GTA VI doesn’t require too much in that regard. GTA V had the sortof half assed stat system, and honestly, I could take it or leave it. Besides a money economy, and maybe some collectables, I don’t think GTA is a game where I should be bothered with too much upkeep of mechanics.
From the massive leaks that happened awhile ago the gameplay will be more like RDR2 prioritizing realism over mechanics that are more gamey.
It’s unclear how in-depth it will be, but the player will have limited inventory and searching the environments will be detailed. So say goodbye to carrying a whole armory in your back pocket.
So the expectation is Realistic mechanics over Arcady mechanics since Rockstar is always pushing the boundaries for their games.
GTA 6 is gonna have a lot more nuance unlike GTA 5 and because of that you’re either gonna be sold on it from the start or you’ll take issue to it.
Oof. Not sure how I feel about any of that. I guess it depends on how intrusive those gameplay elements are I suppose, or how easy they are to mitigate. Weapon limit, I guess it depends on what they let you carry. If it’s just 2 guns that would be utterly miserable, hopefully it’s something a bit more generous.
Similar to RDR2. 2 Sidearms, 2 Long Arms. Backpacks and duffle bags will exist for looting and weapons can be stored in your vehicles similar to horses in RDR2
Yeah, that doesn’t sound like my jam. I need to give RDR2 a shot at some point to see how I find it, but with GTA, I feel like while I understand it utilises alot of “realistic” aspects, it still has a bit of an arcade quality to it. I’d hate for that quality to be watered down in the pursuit of realism.
Guess we’ll need to wait for them to unveil more info about how all of this works.
Joel is part of the Character Select screen. He’s just locked alongside Tommy and Mel for some reason. (Maybe there are more that are locked from the start, and this is just showing us a more opened-up point in the progression tree.)
Definitely looks like a fun time-sink, though I hope it doesn’t become too repetitive with the Rat King Basement Final Boss. Maybe I’m wrong on that, but they showed the RK multiple times in the trailer and it was in the same environment as the main game.
At least the Super-Stalker Mini Boss seems to have some variety (looked like a fight in the Theater).
Very interested in how different each character plays, seems they all have exclusive access to specific tools and perks. The Raining Molotovs modifier looks neat and the various bonus skins. Ellie has a NASA spacesuit, and some futuristic-looking jumpsuit shown. Abby has something that looks very Mad Max-ish.
Will spend the 10$ on this easily
don’t worry just game journalism at its best. purposefully forgetting and erasing stuff just so they can get a quick buck and say how much they are for women’s rights.
It will be, however, the first voiced female protagonist in GTA though.
Coincidentally Tommy Vercetti is also the first voiced protagonist, which the game also took place in VC.

First Modern Female Protagonist*
If anyone does want an article about the history of playable women in GTA here is this article. I made sure it was from a major site as well and there are a few other as well. They mostly all say the same thing as this one and the number of non-gaming outlets that are saying she is the first female protagonist (I mean technically true) outnumbers them in the SEO but still.
