Haha Haha another F You Randy Pitchford moment, eh? :downcast_face_with_sweat:

But Pitchford begged to differ. “Not my call,” he insisted, before dismissing pricing concerns. “If you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it happen. My local game store had Starflight for Sega Genesis for $80 in 1991 when I was just out of high school working minimum wage at an ice cream parlour in Pismo Beach and I found a way to make it happen.”

“I got overcharged and overworked 30 years ago so now you get to have that experience too!”

Sidenote: Full Price Games here in Canada has always been 80$ CAD for the longest time, though now starting to inch into the 90-100$ range with “next gen” pricing.
I now have to do a double-take and realize these news articles are talking about 80$ USD!! meaning the equivalent of like 110 to 115$ CAD, thanks to fucking Nintendo and their stupid fucking Nintendo tax that’s only gonna make everyone else way more comfortable to match

At least with developers besides Nintendo, there’s a much better hope of decent to really good sales on games after a few years. So non-Nintendo $80 games aren’t as bad, but it still sucks though how pricey games are getting. And nobody is going to stop jacking up the prices. Before the decade is over, I guarantee there will be games going for $90 USD regular price.

Wouldn’t this make more sense for the movie news thread?

Also why does this exist why did people agree this was a good idea

Well it is based on a ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶, ̶m̶o̶d̶ shitpost made in a mod for a game so it’s still related to video games, technically :face_with_tongue:

Interesting that Ultron is the first of the story villains to be playable, so I suppose we will get Doom and Dracula at some point too. Seems like a fun addition to the strategist pool though.

Also the dead by daylight five nights at Freddy’s dev stream is in 2 hours and the test version will be playable on steam in 3 hours so I’ll post about that later

ah finally, new Dying Light: The Beast marketing is happening! Here’s a video of some community members getting hands-on time with the game but you aren’t shown any footage of the game itself.
???

Anyway I’m glad to see they’re still pointing to a Summer 2025 release date, but it’s kinda strange we’re less than a month away from Summer and they can’t just give us a nailed-down date. Is it just gonne come out in September at the very end? :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Also, Dead by Daylight collab quest in the new Assassin’s Creed!

I looked up a video of it, seems only 20-30 mins at most, but I skimmed through it and it looks very neat and faithful to the DBD brand!
Basically involves people gone missing (taken to the Entity’s realtm) before you’re teleported away yourself! Then have to cleanse some totems to open an escape portal while hiding from The Oni who is an unkillable powerful patrolling enemy.
Also you then get to fight him a bit at the end which is a fun AC twist I guess.

(I think Ubisoft had other collabs with DBD before like with For Honor and Rainbow Six Siege
but only with Rainbow Six did DBD get any collab cosmetics or anything in return (there’s like 2 or 3 full model-swaps for Survivors that make them look like Siege characters lmao weird)
This collab seems to only be on the AC Shadows side. Still, neat to still see crossovers (with decent effort put into it!) are still among us today.

Dying Light 1 is an absolute classic, i don’t know why Dying Light 2 sucks so hard lol

Overambitious scope of Mass-Effect style dialogue choice/consequence that was cut back at some point in development?
The decision to set it far into the apocalypse, in a “second Dark Age” where humans have largely gotten accustomed to the freakish undead as just another predatory force to stay vigilant against?
Just
too much repetitive side-content and a lackluster main story and performances?

I can’t really say why, though the game does have its positives – largely I think the parkour was massively improved with plenty of new moves and environment pieces to build routes off of.
But yeah I played about halfway through the game before I was turned off from it. It definitely feels like a much different vibe than the first game’s “the world is ending all around you while everyone’s still trying to hold on”.

Sigh
I might seem like I really didn’t like it, but yeah it’s still a fun game to play around with for a while, it just pales in comparison to the first game in almost every department.
I hope to one day try DL2 again with Silvereyes, maybe it’ll be more enjoyable in co-op.
