Oh an update for you and not a good one. The state of Missouri went through with the execution of Marcellus Williams.
Totally Kafkaesque.

The government of Missouri sanctioned a murder, to set an example for Black people. That’s all that happened.
Yeah. And whose fault is that?
Besides, people only liked him, because the general public didn’t know what he was really like, similar to some other famous people whose reputations are now going down the drain. Once he got into politics, it was all out for everyone to see.
I cannot believe that a law and order mayor could have ever committed crime. I am simply shocked, I tell you. I absolutely never saw this soupcon of tragic irony fall onto my plate.
This is akin to saying, “I’m not homophobic because a phobia is an irrational fear, and I’m not afraid of gay people.”
If you want to play these kinds of semantic games, most dictionary definitions define racism, in part, as prejudice or discrimination on the basis of race or ethnicity, and Haitian is an ethnonational group.
However, the point is that Haitian immigrants are a socially marginalized group that Trump and Vance have sought, for whatever reason, to villify and other, which has, predictably, spurred a racist backlash. In usual Trump fashion, he has doubled down on his absurd, inflammatory lies, and Vance has joined him.
If half the country thinks it’s raining outside and the other half thinks the sun is shining, it’s not necessary to consult both sides before you determine who is correct. You can simply look out the window.
In 2019, Trump tweeted the following:
So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done.
In this case, he was addressing three congresswomen who were born in the U.S. and one who immigrated as a refugee at the age of 12.
Trump is proposing to deport 21 million immigrants and institute 20% tariffs on all imports, which will increase to between 60% and 100% on goods imported from China. It baffles me when people say they support Trump because of his economic policies. It’s even more puzzling when they try to say he’s a successful businessman or that this trait uniquely qualifies him to hold public office.
I’m not looking to derail the thread and it’s a bit tiring going back and forth with multiple people at once but if you or anyone wants to go more into this, send me a PM.
This video is ridiculous ![]()
It first points out that just giving the vote to one person is not ideal, so it switches to ranked voting and from there on points out it’s flaws as if that is what democracy is. When surely only a minority of countries have such a system.
The video started good, it basically explains the issue of “the winner takes it all”. I was so expecting that it switches to “maybe we need coalitions and, if that does not work, minority governments that need the opposition to make laws”. But that was never even considered.
Nothing of this video relates to Germany or many other European countries because we have no two-party systems like UK or US. I know that the video was about having more than two candidates, but if you actually had multiple parties, you would maybe get the idea that there can be more than one winner.
I wanted to look up when the last time was where Germany had one party having >50% and therefore was able to govern alone. Turns out: never.
That was to my surprise to, Derek isn’t the guy to not delve deep into a subject.
I think the point was “it would have flaws even in a ranked scenario”. That still misses coalitions.
This is again my understanding, and I could be wrong, but he was considering a presidential scenario where one person is to be chosen, not parliamentary. The simplest case of “here are some candidates, who do you want to win”.
And Germany being a federal government doesn’t make things any simpler =)))
Various sources claim it was meant to kill Hasan. Iran claims he is safe.
Right, it is also my worry for these ranked/score based voting concepts. It just makes harder to understand, therefore harder to vote and easier to accidentially invalidate your ballot because your scores don’t add up to ten or so. ![]()
That is the positive side of “just elect the big guy”. It is too simple to do wrong.
If you want to be confused even more, look up liquid democracy.
Did you know that the earliest modellings of liquid democracies were actually devised by Lewis Carroll?
It’s hard to believe anyone coming out of those buildings alive, so it only depends on Nasrollah’s last night location.
More like hinder Israeli/US/UK colonialist expansion and fossil fuel business interests.

No, this isn’t hyperbole.
“One rough hour. And I mean real rough, the world will get it out and it will end immediately. End immediately. You know, it will end immediately,” he added without sharing any logistics.
