keep dreaming tho, they’ll never do anything about the in-game leaderboards
The Hitman 2 leaderboards still have 1 second, unbeatable scores even after ioi implemented the 3 second rule before exiting. So I also doubt they’ll suddenly change that.
Again, the context is whether they should change things, not whether they will or whether they can. I doubt anyone thinks they actually will reset the leader boards if they haven’t at this point.
Ahhh… ok. Got it. Well that gets tricky then.
You said…
So you distinguish exploits as good (if they’re not patched out) and bad (if they ARE patched out)? Is that correct!? Because you can still get out of bounds and use muffins/the violin/a briefcase to do all kinds of wacky shit in the game to get faster times and ioi has never patched any of that out. So are those exploits ok? Even though they’re literally the same as ones that got patched out!?
That’s the problem.
As other posts on this very forum will attest to, I don’t particularly think any exploits are OK and I try not to use them at all. Having said that, if a particular play-through uses an exploit and earns a particular time, and then the developer removes that exploit, making it impossible to earn that same time, then the leader boards are no longer “fair”.
I understand why speed runners or score hunters would use a glitch or exploit to do things faster, or differently, or get around certain obstacles. Those scores should be earned on a level playing field. Any player should be able to go to the leader boards on a given day and earn the same score on that day. If a player cannot do that, it is incumbent on the developer/publisher/whatever to make it fair. By and large they don’t do that, but in an ideal world, they would is all.
But even in an ideal world like you’re talking about that isn’t a reality because (cliche) there’s levels to this shit. So there’s still going to be a disparity and separation of scores depending on skill.
I guess my point is, while exploits allow for faster times, the people using them would still be faster (even on a level playing field) than the people who don’t use them. If that makes sense.
I see what you’re saying though.
That is exactly my point. If the boards are “fair”, the final score is solely a result of skill and the ability to work the game as it exists on that day. A player can get skilled enough with practice to beat any other player, theoretically. If you are more skilled than I am, or better at a particular glitch, or just memorized the level better than I did, you could get a better score than me and it would legitimate according the rules of that game on that day.
On the other hand, if an exploit allows me to get a score on a Monday and then it’s removed on a Tuesday, by Wednesday you cannot get that score any longer regardless of your skill level. That’s all.
I do agree that this isn’t an ideal world and the chances of any developer actually doing anything like what this discussion is about are slim to none though. It’s all hypothetical anyway though.
In that case the H3 leaderboards have been broken since launch when the Druzhina Arctic had the Sniper Assassin ammos. The wall piercing ammo that pierced everything and never stopped was used to create some extremely low times that haven’t been possible since the first post-launch patch.
Completely agree. It’s evidence that the situation will never be “fixed” and just is what it is at this point. If you look at another way, can you imagine the uproar if the boards were cleared now?
High scores and times are going to be a source of dispute forever. If you look at people like Billy Mitchell Todd Rogers, it’s been like that since the boards were invented.

Getting out of bounds definitely useful for people who want to explore Villa Caruso in The Icon, Landslide, and The Author without and basically have the whole place to yourself. Breaking back into bounds is tricky however since the window near the kitchen was “walled” in Landslide so it can’t be climbed through. Two breaching charges and suitcases therefore needed. The Icon the hardest to break back into bounds on since there’s only one brick on the entire map including OOB so gotta bring along a violin or muffins.
Another place I like to explore is Rangan Tower in Illusions Of Grandeur. Unlike Villa Caruso which was stripped of most removable items, Rangan Tower has just about everything including the security footage enabling 47 to erase it without worrying about a guard walking in.
I’d like to be able to explore the interior of Club Hölle in Berlin Easter Egg Hunt however since loadout is restricted it is most likely impossible to break OOB.
Exploring the Swedish Consulate and underground escape tunnel in House Built On The Sand definitely good - I sniped both targets from the big window - I stole a walkie-talkie from a guard to make this happen. It caused a full combat alert which lasted two hours since the guards never stand down until they get to your location, you break back in bounds, or you hide in a container. The last one is easier said then done since all but one (the one closest to the shop in tunnel) were removed.
what route did you take into the consulate? Ive tried to get in before but it didn’t seem to work
That is true for most parts, however Hokkaido got even lower without the Druzhina Arctic glitch.
Two suitcases, two breaching charges, and several bricks.I entered around the place between the Consulate wall and the truck with the shopkeeper disguise.
thanks a lot

I always wondered what the consulate looked at night. Marrakesh is one of the maps I want to go out of bounds the most. The map seems to be gigantic
Despite the restricted loadout, it is still possible to get into the interior of Club Hölle in the Berlin Easter Egg Hunt escalation. This can be done by throwing a brick to side of the stairs on the roof right at the edge which could allow 47 to step onto the outer railing. Next is somewhat tricky as you need to walk off the edge but not too far so you don’t miss the lower stairs by mistake. And to get back into bounds, you just repeat the brick toss, get on the rail, and this time drop onto the shipping container near the entrance where the guards who normally check for juice bar tickets are. Getting into the club interior enables the player to obtain a biker disguise (level 1 only), a fuse to power the crane, a sniper rifle (which the biker diguise allows), a golden idol to allow you to meet the talking hippo, and a whole club to explore by yourself. Just don’t try going through one of the weird mirror doors as attempting to do so could lock XP and objectives making it impossible to win.
