For the most part I’ve viewed the Hitman: World of Assassination trilogy as one big game.

If they added microtransactions to that game after six years, I think I’d scream into the nearest pillow. I may not stop.

But those are opinions. Not even founded rumors.

I think the MTX fear – while valid in this day and age – doesn’t make sense for a game like Hitman.
A game that, while it uses a games-as-service update structure, is ultimately a single-player game that would be a terrible investment to turn into a “pay to play more” type of game, littered with currency shortcuts.
The game’s gonna fade out of updates after Year 2, and I doubt it’s something IOI is interested in turning into a constant revenue stream after it ends. Wouldn’t be a good look for the game at all – and I can’t imagine how that Steam review page would look.

Tell that every Ubisoft game out there, that gives you microtransactions such as skins, cars, and a secondary currency, even singleplayer games like Assassins Creed or Far Cry.

What makes you think that? My first impression was it was going to cost something.

But now after the backlash, I hope it doesn’t affect the plans. What if they intended to do two maps or so, paid DLC, but after the blacklash do only one, as a free one?

I can see it, but just not how they could implement it, “come buy stuff you’ve already unlocked, but just for this mode”

I’m not experienced with MTX, i’ve bought like a few item’s in AC: Vallhalla, is that microtransactions? If so, it’s strange, because there’s a fine line between that and something like the Requiem pack. if IOI did a store like that, they know we’d buy everything :joy:

remember the good old days when the game was so “simple” to purchase? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Eh, that’s Ubisoft though. They’ve got 6 open-world/multiplayer RPG MTX projects on at once. It’s their bread and butter, and I expect that. Ubisoft does too since they make tons of money off of (most) of these titles.

But for IOI? They’re a bit smaller, they have a history with interacting and supporting their fanbase, and I don’t think adding MTX is in the cards. Hitman is a niche series, and people buy it to get a single-player experience. With all the extra DLC woes plaguing the game right now and morale on Steam a bit shaky, I don’t know if nickel-and-diming players for fake currency is something they’re going to consider now.

Yeah, it’s a bit vague.

We know they’ve released maps as paid DLC in the past, however, in the Year 2 reveal, they don’t mention whether it’ll be free or paid. Heck, they don’t even mention that Freelancer or Elusive Arcade would be a free update.

People are getting their refunds for Deluxe/7DS with mentioning the announcement, so that’s probably a good idea for anyone who might have been burnt by the sudden upgrade offer.

I remember, players were already calling this scheme a scam. This has resulted in a historically catastrophic commercial start.

That’s cool. So people who bought 7DS can still refund them and get them for free. Of course, there are probably a lot of people who own them and don’t realize this. And I doubt IOI or Steam are going to tell anyone to refund the DLC and get it back for free.

There wasn’t any info on that.
Probably not in a nearest future I guess

IO says they fixed the demo for the second time with this new patch that means:

You get your entitlements for 10 seconds now instead of 1.5

After so many blunders and bugs still being persistent even when saying those were fixed in patches…

I don’t think IOI would do it either, I couldn’t even imagine what they would want to sell us for that anyway. But your statement seemed general, as if “no singleplayer game would get these, they are not profitable”, while my argument is based on Ubisoft making more money out of MTX from singleplayer games than the sales of said titles.

I highly suggest it costs something. If Year 2 exists because they want more profit, then paid DLCs would be the way to go, especially Map DLCs. Thats guaranteed money from fans like us. I don’t think Year 2 makes lots of sense if everything will be for free.

I still don’t understand why they don’t enable FSP.

since 2016, every patch has broken something. It’s almost expected with IOI.

Free Starter Pack seems to be working now (on my end at least)

No achievements though, of course.
