Platform - PC (though I’ve heard it happens on console too)
Description - I attempted to kill all agents on the Berlin mission: once during “story mode” (spawned at Bus Stop), once during normal play (different spawn).
Steps to reproduce - I apologize in advance that this part will be a tad lengthy, I had gotten bored and decided to try and piece together how this functioned.
First I attempted to kill all 11 agents present during the “story mode” (spawned at normal Bus Stop, Professional Mode) in one playthrough. I killed all agents (including Price, near the beginning) except for the five present for the “office shootout” event (Montgomery, Chamberlin, Thames, Banner, and Davenport), as well as Green and Rhodes (I had knocked them both out and left a remote explosive so I could eliminate them later). Starting the shootout with 4/? agents killed, killing any agent in the shootout causes the game to freeze and crash (tested with event-provided sawed-off shotgun, Hackl 9S covert, and thrown combat knife). Detonating the remote explosive after flipping the desk over allowed the shootout to play out as normal, however any agent killed after the objective is completed registers as “non-target killed” (tested with event-provided sawed-off and ICA SMG Raptor covert). Additionally, a new “failed” objective appeared (please see attached photo).
The second time, I attempted to kill all 10 agents during normal play (Biker Gang spawn, Professional difficulty). Like with my first attempt, I killed all agents except the 5 present in the “office shootout” event, and kept Green and Rhodes knocked out and alive with an explosive nearby. Unlike the first try, I was able to initiate the shootout with 3/5 agents down, kill all 5 agents present (tested with event-provided sawed-off and ICA SMG Raptor covert), then detonate the remote explosive on the last two, with all kills made counting as “target killed”. However, if the remote explosive was detonated after kicking over the desk and starting the shootout, the game would crash.
I’m no game designer, but I’d assume that in terms of the game crashing and freezing, there is some kind of internal conflict between the scripts/codes/whatever that trigger the “retreat” event (when you complete the objective) and the “office shootout” event (tested after the desk was kicked over).
EDIT: So I opted to try the same process as my second attempt, but this time killing Rhodes and only leaving Green alive, unconscious, and rigged to blow. The crashes kept happening, and it occurred to me I always kill Montgomery first when the crashes happen. Apparently, no matter if you kick the desk over or hide from him, if you kill him before killing the other agents, it’ll crash the game. At the very least, when I killed him from stealth during the “office gathering” event, I had to kill Thames, Davenport, and Banner before I could kill him and NOT have the game crash.
