Nah, IĀ“m just being overtly dramatic of course. ItĀ“s a cool mission and I like the Bournesque badassery of it (even though the targets are a lot lamer than IĀ“d like), I just donĀ“t like when a Hitman mission is throwing the story so much into my face and doesnĀ“t function as an āindependent contractā. But I do think people are just too drunk by the whole āpick 5 out of 10 targetsā concept, it being so recent and āinnovative/refreshingā, despite the targets themselves being easily the worst in the entire trilogy/campaign. And top 3 it is not either way (for me at least).
But this thread is called āMission Championshipā.
I guess we need a āMap Championshipā after this.
you know i love you, you lil whippersnapper
Personal comparison:
World of Tomorrow
(-) Targets remain in a small corner of the map. Fransescaās basic route is a straight line between her desk and the terrace, Silvioās is a small triangle between his garden, dining room and the planet room.
(+) Interesting ways to manipulate these routes: telescope, chef, motherās ghost, psychiatrist, detective, golf instructor, DNA sample
(+) Beautiful and lively map but
(-) most of it is not used
(-) Non-target static virus objective
(-) Not a mission of the original trilogy
(-) Hichkas wants it to win
The Finish Line
(+) Interesting basic target routes. Robert Knoxās pedometer is through the roof, While Sierraās racing is a limited loop, it offers unique and memorable kills and the race in itself provides many ways to interact with. Sierraās route post-race also interesting.
(+) Both targets, and especially Robert, have extremely interesting ways to interact with, some of them leading to dramatic situation where fatherās and daughterās deaths collide.
(+) Beautiful and lively map that is used to its full extent
(-) Not a mission of the Original Trilogy but
(+) Feels the most true to it in spirit.
Apex Predator
(-) Boring basic target routes and
(-) very little ways to manipulate those routes. They mlight as well be user-contract targets of random NPCs
(+) Beautiful and lively map and
(+) the gas station offers a mysterious and scary contrast to the party but
(-) is underutilised, like much of the rest of the map
(-) Not a mission of the original trilogy
(-) Is an H3 mission and thus was partially responsible for "End of an Era"s untimely destruction
(-) Seems to be favored by many who enjoyed downvoting Original Trilogy missions.
My choice is pretty easy really.
Alright, Finish Line shall win. Not that Iām particularly fond of it, but Apex Predator has those extreme lame, generic Targets and Iām just tired of Sapienza.
Also fuck @Hichkas, thereās no way weāll let him get away with this bullshit
given the woa maps are designed to also accommodate elusive targets, escalations, bonus missions and contracts at conception, iām not sure i would personally consider this a fault.
To be honest, I donāt REALLY care at this point. My fav was Situs Inversus which is gone thanks to @djsojus, and a win for either of the two except Berlin can make me happy. Youāre not taking vengeance if youāre letting Berlin die.
I didnāt eliminate Situs Inversus alone
Youāre right, I did downvote it a few times. But itās just a bad mission in my opinion. I could live with a win for World of Tomorrow or The Finish Line. Didnāt really enjoy Apex Predator.
Thats the first reasonable thing youāve posted in this thread
could you talk me through youāre thinking here? interested to hear your take.
I like the map for contracts. But the targets in the mission are just boring. Although we have a few interesting kill methods for Soders (proxy and such), I donāt like that one of the more interesting targets just doesnāt move at all.
As for Yuki: She has a boring (and too long) route and is an overall bad target. At least in my opinion.
Basically what @Hichkas quoted here. There are also a few flaws in the map ā again: Only in my opinion.
World of Tomorrow [15] +1
The Finish Line [16] -2
Apex Predator [9]
Sortof amazed Apex Predator has made it this far. I mean, I love the mission actually but it is arguably a bit gimmicky, I think you have to have a certain disposition for it. Itās definetly the kindof mission you have once in a game, I wouldnāt want multiple missions like this in Hitman 3. Likewise for Hitman 9, whenever that materialises, Iād love one mission to try something like this again. Itās a good change of pace.
The Finish Line is odd for me. I donāt love this map, but I also think it is undeniably great. Yeah, the marketing spoiled most of it, but Iād also argue that The Finish Line absolutely lived up to its hype. It is an impressive big varied level with 2 well designed targets. The Hitman 2 marketing team was absolutely right to make this the signature level of the game. Purely on a deep level though, it doesnāt quite click with me on a deep level like so many other WOA levels do like Sapienza, Hokkaido, Mumbai, Whittleton Creek, Berlin, Mendoza.
As for World of Tomorrow⦠I think it is near perfect. OK, yeah, the virus objective is the elephant in the room, Soders in Situs Inversus was proof that a sationary objective can be done better. But we do now have the EMP Charge which makes this objective a lot easier. And it isnāt that far away from the targets. I mean, Iād say it isnāt as time consuming as it is taking out the 3 targets in Three-Headed Serpent and Chasing a Ghost. But I love both targets, so many great opportunities, so many great disguises, each area of the map is a delight to explore. It is just so groundbreaking on a technical level. I love World of Tomorrow and I love Sapienza. If Hitman 9 decided that they were going to remake one mission from a past Hitman game, I think it would have to be World of Tomorrow, I think it is that iconic.
Saying that though at this point, Iām kindof happy for any of these 3 to win. But I am going all out for Sapienza.
yeah, of course. just interested.
cheers @Hichkas
Supremely disappointed to learn of Beldingford Manorās elimination. It is a level that was truly ahead of its time despite some of its drawbacks. The creepy vibe, rain, level story (so goddamn unique), hedge maze, goofy guard quotes, suit only sneaking and the numerous ways to infiltrate are all elements that make this level my absolute favourite in the series.
Even Alistair, despite being a stationary who refuses to leave his room no matter what you do, is a fun target who is never boring. His father Winston has a short route with a lot going on - you can ambush him in the bathroom or on his way there, poison his milk while heās away, smother him/shoot him through the pillow, or just snipe him from the stables or the rubber dinghy.
The manor itself is incredibly fun owing to the early implementation of the swiss-cheese design, and getting from point A to point B is always challenging but never impossible. With careful monitoring of guard movements, it is possible to sneak all around the map, kill the two targets and rescue the VIP without ever changing out of your suit and all of this while never firing a single shot.
I really love how the final 3 missions are from 2016,2 and 3 respectively. Thats beautiful.
The only good missions in Contracts are the ones that arenāt a remake of C47 ones, Bjarkhov Bomb is the exception, Bjarkhov is always the exception. Beldingford I consider the best and all the things I bitch about Contracts make perfect sense in this mission; being night time, raining, creepy serious tone etc.
And it got killed⦠hunted, like an animal, like some beast.
7⦠Hitman 7ā¦
2 of the 3 missions before it
2 of the 3 missions before it
Done in movies before, but yeah, unique for a VG I suppose (not sure if it appeared anywhere else at the time)
Mafia 1
NOLF 1+2
C47 and SA: āAre we a joke to you?ā
I know, I“m nitpicking and going beyond the Hitman series which is (mostly) beyond your point
