Hitman: The Board Game

Announced at the IOI Showcase, a Hitman board game is to hit Kickstarter and is made by Mood. They’ve done a Goat Simulator card game and a Deep Rock Galatic board game in the past. The Kickstarter isn’t live yet, but hopefully shouldn’t be too long until it is active.

I’m making this thread for those who may be interested. I actually am a big fan of board games, and the pitch for this does interest me. You can notify your interest on Kickstarter so you know when it launches.

“In this 1–4 player competitive board game, players take on high-profile contracts across the globe. Each mission is a sandbox of opportunity: hidden weapons, vulnerable patrols, and exploitable routines. But while the target may be predictable, your rivals are not. Only the most skilled assassin walks away with the payout.”

I think this got a little overshadowed by Le Chiffre, but it looks nice! Although a bit random.

Already following the Kickstarter, hoping for reasonable offerings for the rewards.

With what they showed in the trailer, I’m hoping that the base game is relatively affordable, but they offer optional extras. Like, the cardboard standees are fine, but I’d love for 47 and the other agents to get proper playing pieces. A nice little 47 game piece would be great and a nice way to make the game feel more premium.

I would love for little metal pieces similar to monopoly (=

I would prefer stretch goals, such as piece upgrades like the ones you mention, rather than reward tiers for stuff like that.

I hope that the base game is reasonably priced, and maybe a couple of expansions that are affordable. I’ve seen some where the expansions more than double the price.

This will be great after IO turns off the servers for the WoA :ok_hand:

A tiny metal silverballer would be awesome.

I heard this is a “board game as a service,” and that when the servers for the main game go offline anyone who has the board game has to mail it back.

I’ve been an avid board game enthusiast for years, so I always thought about a Hitman board game, but I never expected it would actually be released. Although, considering how the board game market has recently been flooded with video game adaptations, it was almost certain - but I still can’t quite believe it!

“Kiss my shiny metal silverballer!” - 47, Probably.

I’m not sure I’d be very interested in this…

Absolutely no challenge can be derived from this. A board game? You can snipe the target from across an unobstructed flat surface!

I’m a big fan of board games, but I don’t know how well Hitman would translate into one - and I mean that very literally! I’ll be keeping an eye on this one. Best case scenario, this could be the next Hit Mango Hitman GO (which I really did enjoy)

I’ve also always thought a Hitman TTRPG could have potential, but that might be something for another time :]

I…just heard about this via their twitter and…can I level with you all?

Why is IOI aggressively pushing Hitman this past year? Seriously. New CelebrET’s throughout the year, a new port for MacOS and iOS to run on Apple silicon, a crossover with State of Survival, the now-delisted Sapienza Edition that ran for four and a bit months, a PSVR 2 port, a Meta Quest VR port, a Switch 2 port, and now a board game, which requires kickstarter funding.

Like, I’m fine with all this if Hitman: WOA itself wasn’t being negatively affected, but considering the lacklustre roadmaps and patch notes from the past year, it definitely feels that way. It’s dawned on me that IO has too many projects, and it feels like the company is now being stretched thin with their priorities out of whack.

And Mindseye clearly needed some oversight from IOI, and they were either blissfully unaware of RSB’s game issues, or knew and couldn’t correct course citing challenging circumstances. I dunno. I do not want to spread F.U.D about 007 first light either, but given the rest of their projects haven’t exactly set the world on fire (That MQVR port basically killed XR Games), I have the sinking feeling it’s gonna go wrong somehow.

It feels like Hitman, or the very least, IOI, is trying too hard to go even more mainstream than current too quickly. That’s my take on all this.

The board game sounds interesting in the trailer, but board games based on other IP don’t exactly have the best track record. I really hope this is another exception to that rule.

I’ve been using https://dice.onl/ to handle the random elements during solo play—super quick and saves me digging around for physical dice every time. It keeps the pacing smooth, especially when I want to play a few turns without too much setup. Also handy if you’re playing remotely and just need an easy way to sync dice rolls between players.
