I am not enjoying Hitman anymore

Large? That seems like a bit of an exaggeration to add false weight to the conversation. Vocal? Oh definitely. I am part of that group too, but I really don’t think it’s that large.

Also, ETA is their solution to this. All but The Fixer (which is just poorly received) and the celebrity contracts (obvious legal reasons) are playable. I really do not see that as a bad solution, though I’d rather not derail this any further from the topic at hand, so I feel we should leave it at that.

Personally, I have never really found that ETs ever lived up to the hype. Once I finally found them, I just followed them around and chose when to strike. Not even one of them was ever a threat. Their bodyguards, yes, but they themselves? Never. They walk around in a repeated pattern until shots are fired and either shoot back or run away. I wanted to feel as though I was being hunted as much as I was the hunter.
Between that, and the usual reward being yet another suit for the Ken doll to wear, why bother? Not to say eliminating them is easy. Especially achieving SA/SO. I always found them to be a challenge, but for the wrong reasons. Like with Apex Predator. I can’t be “hunted” by agents that inept and take the map seriously. I haven’t felt a real sense of impending doom since Blood Money when I was actively hunted.

…yes, you just described most of the targets (actually, NPCs) in the game; barring exceptions like Patrick Morgan, Noel Crest, the ICA agents in Berlin, and possibly a few others I’m missing.

Also, do you not get the “hunted” feeling when you’re spotted by guards and are being actively searched for? I’m puzzled, as you were complaining about guards earlier, it seems.

You’ve said you’re playing the Campaign on casual difficulty, right? You’ll indeed find the ICA agents to be less threatening then.
While I admit that Berlin’s agents are sort of lacklustre in the amount of threat they pose, designing them like the Assassins in Freelancer would possibly cause more than a tad bit of complaining.

That’s an interesting way to look at it. I could choose to alert the guards and they would hunt me. The difference is, if one target is always seeking me out, that seems doable. When 100 guards run to my position, the only options are die or start over.

My brother in Christ, one of the most popular speedrunners of GTA V, DarkviperAU, has had enough glitch content to make 84 videos on the subject.

While of course some of these are facts (who knew), plenty are glitches.

GTA is not even close to on topic. Please stop posting about it.

Eh, this is hardly a particularly severe derailment.
Someone who replied here referred to GTA as being an example of a ‘bug-free’ game as compared to Hitman WoA (which I presume is one thing that has affected your enjoyment, given that you’ve noted that ‘guards spot you through walls’ allegedly) and someone posted a video to counter that point; there’ll presumably be a couple more messages referring to GTA posted, and that’s about it. The general gist of the thread still remains the same, which typically isn’t the case with particularly bad derailments.

I could not care less about other games. If I wanted to start a thread about them I would go to their site. Last I checked this is Hitman Forum. It’s nothing new that ganes have bugs. But on Hitman specifically, it actually feels like an intentional slap in the face.

That’s what where all here for, to help each other! :slightly_smiling_face:

That simple reply was probably the most helpful one.

i don’t know why you guys are shitting on the OP. i can understand. i’ve had my own moments where i ragequitted from hitman.

i dropped a proximity duck next to a target in freelancer and ran away for a brief second. the duck did not squeak to warn that it was about to explode, so i ran back to try to pick it up. then it exploded and i died, losing progress. i rage quitted and did not play hitman for a month

the game needs more polish

I beg to differ.

I’m sure there are bug reports outside of this forum, but I’ve reported two here. Two things, that nobody but me reported. Both of them was fixed.
Also, there was a discussion prior HITMAN3 about levels in general: I was one of the few, who welcomed the idea of a train level; and wanted elevator as gamplay mechanic.
Insert Dubai (though the elevators themselves are not moving) and the train levels.
Just these examples proves -to me, at least- that they are listening. But I could mention Travis’ and Clemens’ attempts on putting up a word, whenever fans wanted something here…

As for the topic itself: The older games are still fun, even if not as conent rich as the latest ones. It’s not the end of the world…and who knows, maybe over time you’ll try again and will appreciate it for what it is.

Disagreeing with someone != shitting on someone

This isn’t Twitter, we can have actual nuance here. People just share their own thoughts on what keeps them playing even if they don’t like every single game mode.

Asked the question, answered it with the very next sentences.

Was it the yellow proximity duck? If so, how far did you run away? I’ve ran away from it before, bumping into other NPC who were having a conversation, which is why I didn’t hear the warning squeak.

Just wondered what level you was on and what situation you was in when it happened?

I think my level is around 400. I mentioned, more or less what happened already, but no one was sus to anything yet. I think this is more like beating a dead horse at this point, as devs are more likely not going to pay attention to the forum.

They’re always on here scouting fan reaction and feedback.

For what it’s worth, the only required objectives are [usually] 1) eliminating the targets and 2) getting out alive. The rest, such as but not limited to completing the mission without pacifying guards/witnesses, being spotted on camera, leaving bodies unhidden, changing clothes, etc. are just ideal circumstances and should only be considered as optional objectives. To me, the game’s thrill ultimately comes from the many moment-to-moment decisions that have to be made in order to meet some of those more ideal circumstances. At the end of the day, many won’t be possible, bugs or no bugs. That’s the reality I tend to embrace.

I only say all of this in order to plainly point out that in my calculation, hanging around the scene of the crime usually doesn’t help my chances of making it out alive, period. It’s why my username reflects my most common mission score. I enjoy the messiness.

I get that bugs happen, but with sounds, cameras, and even teeny-tiny sight-lines able to trigger enemy AI’s attention, I only recommend lingering when you are %1000 secluded anyway. Luckily, most of the game’s unlocks are entirely cosmetic, so the losses only hurt so much.

My two favourite Hitman games are: Bloodmoney, for the game mechanics, which by the way they removed all of. And Contracts, for the bleak, grey visceral aspect of it. I remember playing that game and being genuinely, both horrified and terrified. WOA does neither of those things. I’ll admit the graphics have grown by leaps and bounds, but the devs have said themselves, that better graphics make for a more fun experience. They could not be more wrong. I would rather play a game with basic graphics and mechanics that blow my mind, than a visually polished game that so flawed that it looks like God sneezing sparkles. Now Hitman is this painted up, over-coloured fortnite looking thing that would only terrify maybe a schizophrenic epileptic. There’s no grit left in it. Which is why I said they are appealing to a younger audience. Which isn’t even really helping the business because gamers interested bright and shiny things that are likely to have ask their parents to buy it for them. But then, that same mentality has worked for other, equally adult games somehow being played by children.
That, even more than the bugs or other technical faults is why I am mot enjoying Hitman anymore. I feel too much like a predatory pedophile, trying to fit in while surrounded by people probably not even old enough to vote. I’m being pushed out. Although I know it’s inevitable, I still don’t like it.
