Is the Molotov Cocktail too unbalanced?

You mean killing Ezra through the floor while using instinct? Where is the skill? Unless you’re talking about something else.

Dude, none of this is skill, unless you’re using your fingers in some unnatural way to click the buttons.

Sigh.

Exactly my point. There’s NOOOO skill in it. That’s why it should be patched to not kill through walls/floors/ceilings.

What I was saying is wallbang took skill with the lancer. Molotov doesn’t.

Throwing it at a precise angle (since Ezra is on lockdown and his guard is very close to him) in a split second (panicked guards all over the house that can spot you throw it with a mere glimpse), while only having a shot at it 1 outta 20 times at best, due to rng in earlier parts of the run.

Sure buddy

Uhh yea. Not that hard just got to find the correct proximity. Very easy to learn.

Trying to toss a bomb across a map and hit a precise rooftop to drop a chandelier on dalia, that’s far greater skill than toss a Molotov and killing an npc through a floor.

So ya, relax there superstar. Isn’t that hard. Especially comparing it to the flying bomb kill or lancer wallbangs.

Ezra and especially his guard are randomly at a different spot every time. Theres no one correct spot.

Lol

Lancer wallbangs really werent that hard as you make them out to be.

Why has Hitman become a speedrun focused game…

Because of 47’s catch phrase “Gotta go FAST!”

Because some people are in it for the numbers, even though the game is meant to be about the artistry. It’s like comparing Jason Voorhees to Pinhead, or Mr. Zsasz to The Joker. There’s nothing wrong with that in-and-of-itself, but it is odd that the focus be taken up on an aspect of the game that was never meant to be prominent.

Inevitable. I mean King’s Quest 3 has a speed running community… and that has Hard time limits (or used to).

A game like Hitman, as flexible as it is, was bound to attract the speed running community from day 1.

The game is about whatever you want to make it about, using the tools given you.

Key word in all this is “game.”

I propose a new slogan for everyone. “Enter a World of Assassination. Just shut up and play.”

Although rng is rng, it’s still quite consistent if you do it over and over enough. Not hard to figure.
The fact you can kill an npc with a fire ball

Wasn’t that hard? Remember back then we couldn’t use instinct while sniping?
Also you can’t get bodies found so it is much harder to do. It isn’t just snipe from anywhere.

If you think lancer wallbang is easier than Molotov wallbang, then I can’t have a conversation with you.

Lol

Speedrunning is art. DaQuack you talking about? lol

The game is meant to be focused on the artistry. That is why so much effort goes into all the creative ways it can be played and the heavy emphasis on trying to go for SA ranking, and the hire scores for doing so. It can be played however one wants, and experimentation and diverse playthroughs are encouraged, but it’s default design is centered around it being about that creative, explorative play primarily, not to see who can do it fastest. Again, that’s not saying it doesn’t allow for that or even encourage it from time to time (timed contracts as an example), but that’s not its primary focus.

No, speedrunning is a contest, against either others or oneself, and typically requires (what I at least would consider) a rather sloppy style to achieve at that.

lol funniest quote of the year. Speedrunning is sloppy. lol

I’m done. :joy::joy:

You get a higher score the faster you go through a mission. Assuming two players make the exact same moves and obtain the same experience points for actions, whoever does it faster will have a higher in-game score. So that argument of yours sort of falls apart.

Secondly, it’s presumptuous for a single person or small community to claim the purpose and meaning of a piece of work especially when one’s involvement does not extend to development of said work.

For the record, I play methodically, but efficiently. I don’t always walk when I can run. That’s me. Don’t tell me MY meaning.

I had a really good response to both @Axwage and @47saso47, but we’ve gone completely off topic from the point of this thread and I don’t want to bring Urben down on my head again, so I deleted it and I’m gonna just abandon the argument right here. Let’s face it: it’s gonna come up again somewhere else eventually anyway. We’ll continue then.

I’ll make sure to have plenty of popcorn for the occasion.

No it wasnt that hard at all. You dont have to explain to me how it works lol, ive done them plenty.

Not neccesarily easier. But the fact that some kills are harder, doesnt mean all molotov wallbangs are without any skill.

If you think that, then you are absolutely clueless about the game and speedrunning
