May Roadmap Discussion

Apologies, sincerely, I got you mixed up with someone I was (attempting to) speak to earlier. I have amended my post.

Oh, yeah, that other dude.

Well it’s hard being optimistic with all the bad things they put into the game like c’mon for the may roadmap that’s the 473th time they reactivate the iconoclast even though she is available all time in arcade. So if you remove all the bad content from the may roadmap you only get a ducky pistol. Then, it took them 8 months to put 2 new maps in hitman 2 while here it takes them almost 2 years to add a single map and we don’t even know if it’ll be good or shit. I personally think this game is dead at 95% and seeing how good H2 was compared to H3, we can say that the studio needs to be in bankrupt to make good games.

(Replied to the wrong guy first time oopsie)

Yeah, maybe someone from the forum? Now we only need them to spill the beans. :smirk:

The whole point of ETA was so you could kill targets again. That is not a bad thing in the slightest. That’s going to apply a lot of targets soon enough. How is repeating ET’s a bad thing? Isn’t that what people want?

Bad content, in your opinion. I’m more excited for the rabbit mask suit, but potato potato.

Well we didn’t know the quality of the maps before they released in H2 either…that’s a really baffling argument to make. Those maps were made with the intention of continuing the storyline; H3’s base game was always intended to finish it. IOI didn’t plan for new maps because they didn’t want to make any, and I respect that decision to finish their story. Freelancer was thought up post-release so as to continue the narrative after H3 ended. The new map for H3 being set sometime in the past is their way of not breaking from their plans.

I am utterly convinced you’re clowning on me. You must be. Outside of the two new maps, everything else released in H2’s expansion pass had issues;

  • The Special Assignments felt like permanent ET’s that didn’t attempt to use the wider space around them, and stuck to a really small area. They were very linear, and nobody back in H2’s life was impressed by them.
  • The sniper maps, while impressive on a technical standpoint (and Hantu Port is rather fun), the main complaint people had was that they were very, very grindy. No amount of good level design or intuitive sniper kills can make me replay it if the grind to unlock things is off-putting.
  • The cosmetics were hit and miss. I was baffled by the winter sports pack, and I didn’t care for the smart casual suit too much. Those are YMMV though, so perhaps you feel different.

And IOI were not bankrupt during their time making H2. H2 was already partially completed under their time with SquEnix. WB had already saved the company, and gave them funding to finish the game, as well as anything Post-release. WB are big fans of standard/silver/gold editions. This was intended.

Yes, IOI back in 2018 was not rich, but they weren’t bankrupt either.

Well at least there was content in H2 expansion pass and it was worth 30€. You just can’t compare H2 and H3 DLC. When someone in this forum told me that the H3 DLC will never have more content, it was very disappointing. I’d rather pay for something which has 3 sniper maps, 2 locations, suits, items than for something which has…well nothing.

No, not it was not. Just because it came with maps does not mean it makes it worth the price, especially with all the issues I just listed. You are flat out ignoring the complaints because ā€œit has more stuffā€. Having more stuff doesn’t make the DLC worth it, not when so much of it had issues.

I feel like i’m in a time loop.

I’m baffled by what you mean by this.

It’s pretty clear what he means by it. There is a conception that is often reflected on this forum (by those that dislike the after-release Hitman 3 content) that it’s ā€œnothing but escalationsā€ and not worth anything. He’s obviously part of that group that believes that. Even 7 Deadly Sins, which many of us believe is very good content, is seen by that group as worthless because it’s not a new map. The Deluxe content of Hitman 3 is ā€œjust escalations and some reskinsā€. The only thing that will pacify that group of players is a full on free DLC that is nothing but new maps with full mastery levels, completely new unlocks that are not reskins, and a full set of challenges.

I mean I have to agree with him to some level.

I’m really not a fan of escalations, and the 7DS content, while unique, isn’t what I want from an Hitman game. Are you all really saying you wouldn’t have preferred like 2 whole bonus missions instead of 7DS and the Dartmoor Garden Show?

I’m paying to have fun on new maps and not looking at some pretty suits:) lots of players seems to have fun on the 7 sins, they may be the nicest escalations of the serie, these are still escalations, you’re playing them once or twice and see ya

It’s not a question of preference. It’s a question of saying that content is ā€œnothingā€ and ā€œworthlessā€. Would I prefer a full-blown Hitman 4? Sure I would, but I’m not going to say that a DLC that provided actual new game mechanics, new suits, hours of playability, and what I consider an engaging through-line is ā€œnothingā€.

Thank you for the explanation, that helped. I’m not on this forum a lot, so this kinda blindsided me.

(he says spending a good hour on it today and yesterday)

this is such a weird take. there’s a huge middle ground between the two options you listed. it’s fine to like the 7ds content but when compared to other dlc content from the other 2 games it just doesnt stack up in terms of value for money at all. the premium content has suffered a pretty obvious downgrade over the trilogy and its ok to be unhappy with that

While I do admit to using a bit of hyperbole, I stand by my point. The 7 Deadly Sins content is not ā€œnothingā€. I’ve seen it described as exactly that far more than just in the post I responded to here today. The 7 Deadly Sins is the only named, official DLC that has been released for Hitman 3 so it is natural to compare it that of Hitman 2.

Hitman 2’s DLC consisted of (according to Steam):
ā€œā€¢ Two new sandbox locations: New York (The Bank) and Haven Island (The Resort)
• Two new Sniper Assassin Maps: Hantu Port and Siberia
• Four new Special Assignments
• Winter Sports Pack, includes a suit and four items.
• Smart Casual Pack, includes a new suit and two itemsā€

Hitman 3’s DLC consisted of (again, using Steam as a reference):
ā€œa 7-part expansion for HITMAN 3 that will be released over time. Each of the seven content packs introduces a new contract, unique suit and sin-themed item that can be used across the World of Assassination.ā€

I get that comparing the two highlights how much more content Hitman 2’s DLC provided over Hitman 3’s, but to call the 7 Deadly Sins ā€œnothingā€ is disingenuous too. If you look at the complaints that are commonly levied against content like the 7 Deadly Sins, you will see players citing lack of full maps, lack of unlocks beyond reskins, and other issues.

Is it OK to be unhappy with content? Absolutely it is and I don’t begrudge anyone being unhappy. I do have an issue (and several others do as well) with unnecessary put-downs, which include calling actual content ā€œnothingā€.

Why we expect to see things like this? Because they were doing so good in H1&2. So apparently players would like to see something similar in season 3, only to be disappointed over and over again.
If H1&2 were not so good, all there complaints wouldn’t even exist.

Again, that’s valid. Honest comparisons between Hitman 1, 2 and 3 are not only fair, they are anticipated. I want to read about how the game has developed.

An honest critique between Hitman 2 and 3’s DLC might include noting that Hitman 2 did provide 2 fully fleshed out maps. It might point out that Hitman 3 did not provide full maps. That is a fair comparison. What happens more often though, unfortunately, is ā€œHitman 2 gave us a ton of great stuff and Hitman 3 is just a dead gameā€. It’s not honest.

It has been documented that H3 was coming in hot and planned to basically be one and done, with the DLCs being made after high sales.

I get people wanting more, and we’ve been getting more, but I believe it is mostly from scratch. Not like H1&H2 where stuff was planned from the start.

Comparisons will be made, but I guess I’m still just glad stuff is being made at all. Hitman would belong to Embracer Group now if IOI didn’t buy their independence.

Church, man. Church.

But we’re not talking about the 7 deadly sins DLC … we’re talking about the H3 DLC which has the 3 or 4 escalations but still costs 30€.
