Strange question I know but is the sommelier Mr Flowers meant to be a new employee or something in this mission? It just seems like one of those unbelievable disguises because he looks nothing like 47 and has a full head of hair but when 47 takes his clothes everyone recognises 47 as Mr Flowers
I would’ve thought that he would’ve been working there for years and Yates would recognise him like the back of his hand. Have I missed a line which explains he is a new guy or is it just a Hitman thing?
Ye I guessed as much ha. I usually avoid kills where they require a disguise that is just too unbelievable but this one is part of the really cool Closing Statement kill method which I don’t think you can continue without being disguised as Flowers.
I’ve posted before about how the trigger to place the grapes on the vineyard table is sometimes absent. Now I think I have the answer: it is all down to some very exacting triggers, both of which are linked to Ramón, the vineyard worker who has lost his knife.
When you hear Mr Vargas receive his call from Yates, you must listen to him instruct Ramón the vineyard worker to go and pick grapes for him to inspect. Once Ramón has walked off muttering to look for his knife, the prompt to put the grapes on the table appears, no matter your disguise. If you trigger the conversation and wander off before it completes, the prompt will never again appear: it is tied (it would seem) to Ramón struggling to carry out his work.
If you want to hand the grapes directly to Vargas, you can do so at any time in the mission - so long as you dress as a vineyard worker and incapacitate Ramón first. The vineyard-worker disguise alone is not enough, because Vargas mistakes you for Ramón when you hand him the produce.
Trying to figure out a good SA/SO run in Mendoza, and check off a few missing challenges in the process too.
Questions:
Do you have to give the Data leak files to Yates’ wife in-person, or is there another way? I found a desk to place “Research Files” on, but it’s either broken or not for the Data Leak files at all.
Feels like this opportunity would be a nice first step to an easy kill and the Death by Proxy challenge.
Is there any way to trigger the Tour mission story without having to disguise yourself as the Winemaker or Corvo Black? (Figure I can kill Tamara in a sneaky way during the tour if I’m careful enough.)
Is there any way to get the Tour mission story wrapped up so you can get the Closing Statement story completed too? That’s got an easy poison kill, so I wonder if I can deliver the Grand Paladin beforehand and that’s the main trigger for the meeting.
For the wife yes I believe so; the ‘place Research Files’ is for the lawyer Mission Story.
You can place the grapes on the table next to the Tour Guide after he requests them from the grape workers, that may trigger him to start the tour.
I too tried to ready poison for the big meeting, but I took so long that the tour Opportunity time limit had passed… so ensuring he gets the grapes sooner than I did should help you.
If you do the tour, it should go right into the meeting regardless of if you decide to take out Vidal.
You can also start the meeting by simply activating the sommelier Mission Story, (they will head to the meeting room) thereby skipping the tour altogether.
I’ve been playing about with this today. I’m trying to do the Closing Statement Kill except without dressing up as the Sommelier. Awkward as hell. Noticed a few things:-
The trigger for everyone to start moving to the meeting seems to be once the wine worker has told the sommelier that the Grand Paladin is wanted at the house. You have to stand near them to trigger the conversation. At that point they all start moving.
You have to be in close proximity to Don Yates for him to start talking otherwise the meeting won’t continue so besides being in disguise you would have to be positioned in the area directly behind where he speaks to make him start the meeting
You don’t actually have to place the wine bottle for the meeting to fully complete but it takes a while for Yates to go from the 1st part of the meeting where he talks about the Heralds to the 2nd part where he talks about the wine and then Diana etc. This is likely a glitch/unintended because Yates talks about the wine even though it isn’t there
I tried dressing up as the Head Of Security ‘Cortazar’ but then when I went to the Don’s bedroom where Diana is she still says “He’ll have his thug Cortazar do the dirty work” even though 47 was literally dressed as Cortazar
When on his way to the bedroom Yates was calling Corvo Black as if he couldn’t get in touch with him like he usually does which suggests Corvo Black has already been knocked out i.e. the tour opportunity has been done even though I never actually touched him
Seems like we simply weren’t meant to do Closing Statement in any ‘natural’ way besides doing the tour and then dressing as the Sommelier etc.
This guy has managed to do it SASO which is skilful but it certainly doesn’t feel natural:-
When I was testing to see if I could poison the entire table at once, I did the same routing he did, it’s definitely a bit more work just to set up, not so much natural, but I give them kudos for doing it on Master difficulty no less!
I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned this, but there’s an interesting sniper assassin reference in this mission.
There are two guys at the asado talking about the ICA leak, and one of them mentions that they need to off someone. Eventually, the other guy suggests that he should ask for “Stone” (as in Stone from co-op) and to “not ask about the nose”.
Wow. I managed to smuggle in the Paladin but when the meeting happens no one says a word.
Thanks for linking that video. I’d never had guessed that it’s this specific place in the room – closest enough to Yates that activates the conversation.
Completely agree. Mendoza is guilty of this a lot, especially with the tour. I killed Yates, and poisoned the tour party with an emetic. Once they returned from vomiting, Corvo Black decided to skip the wine-tasting, which meant that Diana and Vidal just stood in the barrel room indefinitely. I’ve also had them speak to Bodyguard 47 as “Mr Black” during the wine-tasting. The wine-master will also receive a call from Yates telling him about the tour; this still happens once Yates is dead.
Furthermore, getting the earpiece doesn’t allow you to send pictures automatically to the sniper team. It may not work at all outside of the mission story, or you could simply have to tag a watermelon first.
No problem Chicken. As the video shows there are definitely ways of getting it to work speedrun style by using coins etc but I prefer the more intended/natural style if that makes sense. Would’ve been good if there was a way to make the sommelier deliver the wine himself somehow. I suppose it’s still part of the fun going through the motions to see what’s possible though anyway.
Ye it is a shame because the whole meeting with the Heralds and the kill on Yates in his bedroom by Diana and 47 is almost movie like and there aren’t any other kills on Yates that are as fitting/story driven as that if you know what I mean. I don’t like dressing as the sommelier because the disguise just seems like people would recognise him but I think I’ll just headcanon that he is new to the place
It’s also a shame we can’t naturally do it Silent Assassin because of the extra guard we have to kill unless we use some sort of distractions. I think they should’ve just forgiven this one extra kill because it is part of this really cool mission story ha.
Seems like you can massacre everyone you want at the Herald meeting and the survivors will still return there even if the bodies are still lying around the place (I didn’t try that with leaving the guards alive though). I just wanted to see what happens to Vidal if you take out all the attending mercenaries in advance (nothing happens after Yates says “put her down”) and disappointed in that I just started messing around. When I spared some Heralds I noticed that when they’re at the table, the men have a female voice and vice versa (except one woman doesn’t say anything). Idk if this is an intentional thing or not.
