Missed opportunities in hitman levels

I’ve always thought about this since I saw the SUVs in Hawke’s Bay… wouldn’t it be great to have a “car bomb” Opportunity? Plant a bomb in one of the SUVs and then have Alma enter Target Lockdown, but instead of hiding, she wants to run away. Just as she turns the engine on, the car explodes.
Accidental kill, and then you leave in the boat.

Get Helen West to kill Janus and take him to her basement if you “make his day” and have him go see her.

In Berlin, given it plays around with the targets being disguised and tries to twist the formula abit. It would of been cool to spin around with getting the Biker Gang to discover some of the ICA agents and deal with them.

Perhaps involves finding some bodies outback which the ICA stripoed to get in to the club and luring a biker member there to discover and di a small hunt for out of place ICA agents.

Disguising yourself as Ezra Burg.

The disguise wouldn’t work on Parvati or the other female (can’t remember her name) as they would notice the height discrepancies etc, but it would work on Sean Rose. The reasoning being Sean doesn’t like getting close to Ezra due to his OCD and the idea of a burned face guy grosses him out, so he’s distracted and doesn’t notice the obvious change in height/voice etc.

You could use the Ezra disguise to lead Sean somewhere to kill him, including the basement, thus making it easier to use Sean himself to enter the tornado bunker.

You’d have to think of some way to make it harder to obtain Ezra’s disguise so the aspect of the mission wasn’t too easy, but I’m sure there could be some way to do so.

Marrakech would have been a 10 if you could get a crowd to kill the swedish guy

If there was a way to trigger the master of ceremonies to do his thing would be great

Does Ezra even wear his mask for that reason?
IIRC he only wears it at the moment because of the hostage in the basement he’s interrogating

And also it’s part of the “fun” gameplay that NPCs don’t react do differences between the original NPC and 47 in the disguise, even though that’d make for smarter/more challenging AI, that’ll probably never happen in Hitman :pensive:

Oh I don’t know actually.

I vaguely remembered a story that Ezra blew up his face so wears a mask…

But that is a pretty cliche thing, of someone wearing a mask because they damaged their own face, so I might be conflating various stories.

Slightly on topic and slightly off topic, but as much as I love Dartmoor and it’s in my Top 5 favourite maps of all time, I kind of wish there was more than just 1 target. Wish there was at least 3 targets to kill.

Still awesome regardless.

Maybe, but with this opportunity you could also have Ezra remove his mask because he couldn’t eat with it on his face, and then there could also be an opportunity to lace the mask with his own drugs.

Making one of the DJs trigger the climax in Berlin would be cool.

Having Robert Knox kill himself out of guilt after blowing up Sierra with a car bomb would’ve been a nice touch, since we see that type of kill elsewhere in Dartmoor or in Santa Fortuna with Hector Delgado. Maybe having him throw himself off the top of the building, something like that. On the other hand he is a pretty shitty, emotionally detached father, so maybe Sierra’s death wasn’t quite that devastating for him.

Makes a lot of sense for me the way that story plays out - we see from a few lines of dialogue (his excitement over the car, not his daughter when she wins the race for example) that he practically loathes Sierra (blames her for her mother’s death too) - like you say a pretty shitty father.

You can hear a twinge of guilt in his voice when he realizes who he’s killed, but his instincts are still to save his own skin once he realizes he’s next.

Oh damn, must’ve missed that part. I always thought he was just a bit emotionally vacant.

Yep, it’s in the target briefings - she died in childbirth. This post on Reddit was interesting too:

What kind of father blames the child for a mother dying in childbirth? There I was thinking he was just an emotionally-stunted tech nerd. Makes me feel a lot better for killing him, and a bit worse for killing Sierra.

Something that always bothered me with A House Built on Sand is how Mendola refuses to go to the meeting if you steal his documents without killing him. I mean of course it would make sense for him to not go if he knows he doesn’t have them but it would be a much more rewarding experience for players who thought to do it if he doesn’t realize it and end up being killed by Kwang for wasting his time. I remember really being excited to find out what happens if I steal the documents without killing Mendola and being really disappointed when he just angrily dismissed me every time I approached to escort him to the meeting.

I mean, Hitman: Contracts had a very similar thing. In 2004. The Rendezvous in Rotterdam level had a reporter who wished to buy some photos that 47 was sent to retrieve. If you KO him, take his envelope of money and let him proceed to meet with the biker leader, he will end up being killed. It accomplished nothing as the reporter wasn’t a target but it’s still interesting how the developers cared enough to create a scene like that, and even record special dialogue for it.

I found it really interesting that you had to manipulate Sophia Washington into wanting to eat despite walking right past a buffet where you can disguise yourself as a server. It would have been kinda neat to have, say, a target who has water but won’t drink it unless you make them thirsty by turning up the temperature or messing with the humidity in the HVAC system, or something like tiring them out with a personal trainer disguise. Maybe even booby trapping a soda machine that they would go to.

EDIT: Also, I really wish sedatives worked differently. I guess the Kalmer works just about perfectly for how a tranq dart gun should work in a video game, pretty much just like in Metal Gear Solid or whatever, and sedatives in the vents works how it feels like they should too. But I wish the consumed/syringe sedatives had a more delayed effect. Maybe put the NPC in a similar state to emetics, but they’re going to look for somewhere to sit or lie down, where they would then enter a state like the NPCs who are just asleep. Maybe if they’re a guard and another guard sees they’d go over and wake them up, but otherwise they could be unsuspicious. If they don’t find a place to sit fast enough though, I think it would be fair if they just collapse like they already do.

A missed opportunity is that the walkway in Paris, which consists of a film of water, doesn’t conduct electricity. Not only would this allow for a mass electrocution of everyone who’s on the podium, it would also provide for a silent assassin strategy that involves killing Novikov during his speech.

To be fair, the Kill were Jordan pushes him off the balcony is pretty good. Unfortunatly it takes way too long to get everyone into there places.
