Sonic Movie 2 looks fun. I enjoyed the first film, despite how it had some basic, predictable writing. It is a kid’s movie, so that’s not too unexpected.
Anyway, the sequel is looking pretty good in terms of action (and distancing itself from the CGI+Human Sidekick trope)
Not too happy about the myriad of pop-culture jokes. Uber? Winter Soldier? In a Sonic movie… why? Feels a bit dated already…
We also got this really cool poster inspired by the video game Sonic 2 as well. I’ve seen Sonic fans talking about it and its clear that there is just alot more excitement from the fanbase about this movie than the first, not to mention the attempts at building a “Sonic Movie Cinematic Universe”, with Sonic 3 already being confirmed and the Knuckles TV show for Paramount+.
Saying that though, for myself, I must admit I’m not really that invested. I guess I’m hoping we get more “Sonic-y” elements introduced further down the line as the series progresses and start to get some deep cuts. I feel like the Knuckles TV especially seems like a good place to introduce Sonic’s secondary characters, like Tikal, Rouge, the Chaotix perhaps. I guess I want the film series to succeed so that it in turn helps the game franchise succeed.
I still haven’t watched the first movie yet, probably should get around to it at some point. I doubt I will see this in the cinema to be honest. Kindof more interested in seeing Sonic Frontiers materialise, the Netflix show Sonic Prime, and still loving the IDW comic book run, including an IDW special issue to tie-in with the movie coming out next week.
The studio announced Wednesday it is pushing back the theatrical release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse from Oct. 7 to June 2, 2023.
The ONE movie that I’ve been really, really excited for, goes from a less-than a full year wait – at original announcement – to over-a-full-year wait, starting now.
More time for the animators, yeah, but I’m still crushed by this. Today was really great so far.
I don’t think thats even a competition. Black Adam and Halloween both have a 50/50 percent change of either failing or bombing. Spiderman is near certainly a W already.
Sony have been intimidated by their own product. Clearly they don’t want Spider-Verse to pale in comparison to the utter tour-de-force that is Morbius.
Not to be contrarian or anything, but I don’t get the love for that Spider-verse movie (the first one) or the hype for the second one. The thing felt (to me) like trying to watch a 3-D movie without the glasses. I turned the first one off after about 45 minutes.
Yes sir, filmed and already has a first cut ready. The only issue is everyone in my inner circle including myself thinks it’s gonna be a terrible movie.
for me, it’s the most comic book comic book movie ever.
it’s fun, exhilarating and hits all the emotional points perfectly. it has great mixed media animation, good humour and strong characters/arcs. it’s a great package that no one was expecting.
i think miles’ character transformation is a little sudden and some of the alt spideys don’t get nearly enough screen time, but overall i’d say it’s my favourite spider-man movie by a wide margin.
also: as a middle aged man with a side order of lifelong depression, peter b parker may be my favourite incarnation of spider-man. in fact, some of what he goes through is a little near the knuckle.
I guess that’s a main reason I didn’t like it. I don’t like comic books. I love the MCU and the DCEU, but I just cannot read the source material. Haven’t been able to since I was a kid.
They could make a Spider-Punk film, they could make a Spider-Gwen film, they could make a Spider-Man Noir film, they could make a Spider-Man 2099 film and they have an entire multiverse to pick but for some fucking reason Sony let the actor pick their character.so that is why a guy with two appearances is getting a film.
Wait a second… we could have gotten the Scorpion, or the Man-Spider, or Kraven the Goddamn Hunter… and we’re getting some lame-ass Bane knock-off who’s had fewer appearances in comics than the Collector has had onscreen?
