I’m just mostly confused at this point what the probably Conor McGregor ET would bring to the table for new players/engagement.
Do they want wrestling fans to get into Hitman so they can play around with its repetitive, QTE hand-to-hand combat?
And the fans of Dmitri Vegas… they debuted the trailer at a music event. I hardly think that’s the optimal avenue to find people who recognize hitman let alone interest them in playing the game.
“Hey, we’re the HITMAN game, and we’re giving you the chance to virtually kill this prominent celebrity in this non-gaming adjacent field…”
Maybe that’s not the intention behind it, but I don’t really see what Vegas or McGregor bring to Hitman that makes them an interesting pairing with its gameplay, style, or storytelling.
Sean Bean I can understand because he’s a professional actor and they gave him a role to play, and on top of that made it into a meta-joke about his career as an actor who dies.
Maybe I’m thinking about this in the wrong way? Hmm…
Still, I like that the devs are still putting in good resources into the game, this far into it. We just constantly hit these awkward periods of silence and unspoken delays for Hitman’s live service content and it doesn’t often get addressed until just before or more longer after the fact.
The only thing I wanted to see from that reveal, which never surfaced afaik, is a bunch of people MDMA’d out of their minds thinking someone had legitimately hacked some screens at the event to tell Dimitri Vegas they had put a hit out on him.
Reskins tend to be a lot safer to add, and I’m not at all against them as they do tend to look quite lovely (the Floral Baller comes to mind), and I don’t think increasing the novelty-factor of items is gonna help the games’ other issues that are more long-standing (also, apparently the blue easter egg isn’t novel?). If anything, the reskin rate would go up, not down.
It more feels like IO’s PR is conflicted on what it wants to discuss, not that the studio doesn’t care.
I’m in the apathy camp as well, but I’m not completely “done” either. IO has consistently communicated that the game isn’t dead yet, even if it’s vague and a little unhelpful details-wise.
I think you’re on the right lines here; the marketing for the CelebrET’s, outside of Bean, has very limited appeal and is a bit confused on who it’s trying to appeal to. Bean is widely known so had broad appeal to people who have seen him in Films and TV (which is to say, a lot of people). Vegas is considerably more niche, and I only know Connor McGregor by reputation, not because of UFC specifically.
It’s a strange situation to be in, gotta be honest.
I’m not done with the game by any stretch, I’m still going strong. My thing is, stop teasing new content and just add the new content, and if there isn’t any more new content or not much anyway, then get to fixing the game’s many outstanding issues and add in the last few items some of us have been asking for. Focus on touch-up work, rather than acting like the game is still an Event. We all know it’s not, new gamers know it’s not. Just tell us what is coming, what’s never coming, do what you can do, and let the game be until what time another comes.

I know a lot of people on here are becoming frustrated with the lack of news, but I guess that shows how everyone still cares about the game, which is cool to see. I’m sure in the background IOI has some great plans cooking!
We are theorizing Chongqing or Ambrose island because we already had a fighting-focused ET there before and there’s a slap-fight game that could easily be turned into an actual fighting arena, respectively. But beyond that speculation, we haven’t the foggiest of clues where it’s gonna be.
Out of all the maps I can only see (if it is a fighting theme et) would be Ambrose or Berlin couldn’t see them redoing Chongqing for a fighting target when we already have the rage but we will have to see

I don’t think it is Berlin considering the last ET took place on that map. I believe It’s more likely on Ambrose because there aren’t any ETs on that map, although Chongqing could also be possible.
I want to know or see what the final version of this game that I’ve already paid for and will continue to play for years is going to be. Will bugs be fixed? Will anything be changed or added? Etc. If the base game (which includes levels) is already in its final state, I’d like to know it so that I can stop wondering and stop coming back to this place.
