New Roadmap: Season of the Luck

Typical. :man_facepalming:

Anyway, are we gonna get an explanation of what the theme of “luck” is supposed to be about for this season? Is it because Valentine’s Day is in the heart of it (no pun intended), and it’s a play on the phrase of “getting lucky” associated with the theme of that holiday?

Probably both that there’s a lot of stuff to bring good luck during Chinese New Year and that you can get lucky during Valentine’s Day.

I think everyone is forgetting that at launch in 2021, HITMAN 3 had PSVR support as the only VR mode. This was an exclusivity deal with Sony which lasted for a year as in 2022 they released PCVR.

We can only hope that this PSVR2 deal is the same, I see no reason for it not to be! Although I do expect it will be a DLC on PC as well. I just hope for finger tracking support!

The cat was already in the game in Chongqing, Ambrose, and The Safehouse. Granted, they split it up so the arm could move.

The RFID Taser is a mix of the RFID explosive and remote taser.

These weren’t done in the Glacier editor as they’re separate models so work was put into it!

They actually brought back The Fixer lol, I don’t know if I like that, I wanted him on the arcade, not as a normal ET where you can permanently fail. I wonder if they tweaked the mission a bit or they’re just going to release him as it is. I hope we eventually get him on the arcade alongside The Decievers with loadout.

Also, nobody has mentioned that, besides The Fixer, the other ETs are the exact same ones on the exact same order as the previous three years. We need REAL variety. Is this how is going to be for the whole year? Just the same thing you’ve been doing for years with some little variations to the formula to distract us from what you’re doing? I just don’t get it, I really don’t. Everything is already done, why is it so hard to switch up the order a bit? I don’t want to call IO lazy but I honestly can’t find any other explanation for this.

Exactly what I think.

I believe it would just be something “extra” and maybe even useless. Don’t get me wrong - if it’s easy to implement and doesn’t cause any issues, then sure, why not? But, I had the chance to try the Valve Index finger tracking and, honestly, it felt pointless even in Half-Life: Alyx, which was a game specifically designed with these mechanics in mind. In general, I don’t recall this feature being important in other games - I mean, I don’t believe developers really want to implement it at the end of the day.

Yes, that also suppresses me, but these assets isn’t 100% new, it’s still recycled old models, they just mix some of models each other’s, retexture etc.

If it’s an accident kill: Let the target find the coin, place the taser on the other side of a door the target walks through, since the target always leads he will be electricuted before it can be picked up by anyone else. Pretty doable accident kill.

Would be a lot cooler if it’s not suspicious tho

Gee. I wonder if ‘The Fixer’ will be the 27th ET?

By the way, about the Manekin-Neko explosive.
I wonder what the explosion radius is.
And if its unsuspicious.

A few years back, we had the Explosive Xmas Gift.
And as it happened, it ended up being truly unique because:

  • it’s legal to carry and drop (but not to throw)
  • it’s unsuspicious on the ground
  • it possesses the explosion radius of the Semtex/Demo Block
  • It’s non-sticky when placed

So I wonder if this new item could be truly new in the same way.
The proximity version of the Xmas gift.
It would also make thematic sense, winter wise.

An unsuspicious Proximity Semtex/Demo Block.

Personally I think that the probability of the neco being just a reskin of the Iconator is fairly high :x

Hmmm I don’t know you know? If I was a betting man, I’d say IOI are more eyes on the forum instead of Reddit. Over there it’s like minefield trying to find anything out.

More Freelancer content is welcomed by me!! From the leaks thread, we’re obviously get more Safehouse stuff, but anything else for Freelancer is cool for me

A forum is an ideal place to ask for opinions because threads survive the feed much much longer than Reddit, Discord or where else. Well, unless you pin there. Or use social media where there is much less focus on interaction and more on doing posts on the wall.

Since I am a moderator here and on Discord, I did a glimpse into the internal activity stats and surprisingly both are on roughly the same level for active users and visiting members.

Still I think the demography here is different than Discord or Reddit or other social media. It is probably still a good idea to involve all possible places for polls even if for some it is spammed away after an hour.

I love the RFID explosive, even made a featured contract around it (Davey Jones Locker) However, the RFID taser is useless without water, except for guards who will pick it up.
Lets hope the featured contracts has more interesting puzzles this time, and less BORING any-any speedrunning. Hitman is first and foremost a PUZZLE game, after all.

I like stats and facts. That is quite interesting

I think people may have misinterpreted what I meant when I said concentrated. We are but a subsection of players, and going off of the regulars I speak to on here, relatively experienced ones at that.

That’s all fine and good, and that can be handy for raising issues, but it also means we are not the best examples to represent each Hitman player demographic, as, by the forum’s nature, it attracts more experienced players to discuss the game in a more cerebral manner. That can be off-putting to casual players, who would otherwise use the subreddit or discord for more light-hearted conversation.

Places like Reddit and Discord are more accessible, heck, even Twitter is, and also get opinions and criticisms too. Minefield the Reddit may be to navigate sometimes, it still makes sense to check there, if nothing else but as a sanity check to make sure what they’re doing internally is what players actually want, instead of the experienced players nearer to the top of the player skill food chain dictating everything.

If you recall, even Combatglue had to make a habit of visiting the forum late last year instead of just focusing on the other socials.

There are multiple places and demographics for hitman, and there is no one place that should be best in my view.

Wait, didn’t I pay for access to that Lee Hong escalation, Golden Dragon sniper and Black Dragon Suit a while ago?

Why should I be feeling lucky with this roadmap?

F2P players get access to the escalation and also get to keep the unlocks from it even when it goes away.

I can’t remember The Fixer from H1 or H2 which means I probably didn’t even attempt it. On this basis can someone enlighten me as to how difficult this is likely to be on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most difficult  I will be taking the low risk approach so time won’t be a factor.

Potential streak buster for all ET’s complete and SA since H3 launch?

It had an insta-fail condition where you could subdue the courier before he obtained the diamonds from any of the several merchants in the mission. And it wasn’t a matter of subduing the right merchant before that either. Because they have to go to their stash spot to get the diamonds, then they’d hand it over to the courier.

I don’t know if a merchant could be KO’d after they get the diamonds from their stash spot. or rather, if that causes the ‘Obtain the Diamonds’ objective to be incompleteable…

So it’s not so much “difficult” as it is having a sudden death scenario that’s EASY to avoid if you know what to do.

I don’t know what to feel about this roadmap.

It feels so empty, even though it is not factually correct. The current roadmap proposes a similar content to the previous ones.

But, instead of grumbling, let’s focus on the positive sides:

  • Some FC to bring anew breeze of fresh air to the game.
  • Two unlocks, one of which (RFID Taser) offers a new gameplay. Not the perfect unlock, but let’s appreciate the introduction of a new item which is not an umpteenth reskin of an item.
  • Y5 ET. A new cycle begins. Well, I think it’s time to introduce permanently the ET missions progressively. Each months, some ET are included in the game.
  • The unfamous Fixer is now back on tracks! Maybe it is the main reason why this season is entitled “Season of the Luck”. We will need a lot of chance to achieve this mission, especially SA.

A regular roadmap, pretty decent, as it looks like the other roadmaps (especially those from 2022). But at least, we didn’t need to wait March to get fresh news from IOI.

Let’s see what the future roadmaps will propose. Time will tell.
