Next Hitman Game - Discussion Thread

Do we count Hitman 2016, Hitman 2 and Hitman 3 as one game, or as three seperate ones? I count them seperately, so the next game should be Hitman 9 as it’s the ninth to be released.

Er, but then do we count the spin-offs? Hitman Go, the sniper games, the HD rerelases and the Hitman 2 Christmas Flash game? Is the next game really going to be Hitman 15!?

Hitman 2027. Released in 2029.

Isn’t the FRVR article reading too much into the original?

“After that” doesn’t necessarily mean it will be next year like the co-op news. Plus, “talking” might just mean internally discussing it, not publicly announcing something.

I think that next Hitman should be named Hitman 7. World of Assassinations is a unique game splitted in a trilogy. If they say “Hitman 4” I think to a fourth chapter of WoA, not to a total new game of the franchise

:backhand_index_pointing_up: I think that is the case.

Please give the new Hitman game a subtitel so it has some meaning.

Hitman: World of Assassination sounds way better than Hitman 2016, Hitman :hitman_2: or Hitman :hitman_3: combined

Still a poor choice for a subtitle. Too long and clunky. Each game in the trilogy should have had its own subtitle. Hitman: Shadow Client, Hitman: Providence, Hitman: Partners.

They delisted 2016 and 2, and rebranded 3 into Woa, while offering content from the previous 2 games inside it, so it makes more sense to count it as 1 game, 6th one in the main series.

Hitman Codename 47, Hitman 2 Silent Assassin, Hitman Contracts, Hitman Blood Money, Hitman Absolution, HITMAN, HITMAN 2, HITMAN 3. It’s all over the place.

Imagine living through this

Personally I want them to stick with Hitman, plus a subtitle like Hitman - ‘The adventures of the bald clone who always gets betrayed by his agency’ or ‘That time where a shadowy figure played the him and the agency again and it all went to shit’

On a more serious note, it doesn’t really matter. I just wish IO would stick with a naming convention.

I think IOI will possibly announce a project working name and the fact the next Hitman is in the early project stage. Either way, talking about or announcing something is way earlier than we all originally anticipated. Even if IOI are just talking about it, they clearly have the wheels turning in the background. Who knows, maybe IOI was intending to keep 47 rested for longer than intended, but with all the buzz and attention drawn to the franchise with the recent Elusive Targets, they might have decided to bring 47 back earlier than expected.

I’m assuming the next Hitman will be made on the engine they’ve used for Bond for the PS6 and the new Xbox?

It’ll simply be called Hitman

Its sequel will be Hitman 2, then when they make a third it’ll be Hitman World of Assassination. That’ll be fun for us

Hitman 4: World of Assassination 2.

Seriously the numbering of these games post Absolution has been all over the place.

I’m hoping the next game isn’t numbered and it’s named similar to Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money :slightly_smiling_face:

Be careful what you wish for - they might just call it HITMAN again.

It’ll be something like Hitman: A New Beginning or something like that.

“Espionage thing”? Jesus Christ. I never saw this quote from IO. Hitman should not be promoted as an “espionage thing”. Seriously, the new employees at IO do not know the heart and soul of Hitman as I saw it from the first 4 games in the series.

Please bring back some gritty and horror in Hitman. 47 should be an urban legend. Like the boogeyman.

I want the new Hitman to be completely different in tone compared to the James Bond game or any “espionage” feel at all. He is a cold murderer for money. Some of his hits might even be morally difficult to justify, but then we can debate that as fans. Like some of the old school hits from the previous games like the “Death of a Showman” mission.

Less is more is really what I want in terms of seeing and knowing anything at all of Diana, 47 and the ICA.

I like both takes and think they blended pretty well in Blood Money (and a tiny bit in some maps of H3), but yeah, the Bond-esque espionage angle has been done for 10 years now, it’s time to go back to the more morally questionable and almost slasher movie (but not outright villainous) assassinations and environments of C:47, Contracts and Blood Money. Maybe even a little bit of dipping into the flat-out grunge pool of Absolution, but not a full dive.

I would love something more psychological that explore the mind of 47, like Contracts but on crack/steroids, with the targets not necessarily connected, just him doing hits.

Ya know, it is possible they just misused the word espionage and only meant something more like “stealth”.
