No more Difficulty Challenges?

the only really difficult missions were colorado and maybe bangkok. and then you even had the electric phone to cheese some of it. 100% isn’t something casual players do. it kinda implies mastering the game (no pun intended) and if you find doing something hard frustrating then maybe you shouldn’t do that

I get your point and I agree to a certain amount - the difference in my opinion is wether you get some medal for a specific thing or if you have your game stick at 99%. I, personally, like to have things complete. So, by removing those challenges there are still a lot of Achievements to accomplish (for those who want them) while also giving more players the opportunity to “complete” the game instead of having a few lose ends.

But again, this is subjective and I’m not saying you are wrong.

If you find playing master mode unfulfilling without a prize at the end then maybe you shouldn’t do that

my reaction when arriving in hitman 3

I’m really sad that they took away all these challenges :sleepy:

well, i’m not gonna. mainly because the opportunities are broken there but because of this too

it is precisely for this reason that I no longer play as a master unfortunately.

Due to illness I’ve never been blessed with SA/SO runs (that actually gives me something concrete) in the earlier games. But now I get to be a recognized part of the good assassins as well. So I’m grateful that IOI changed it, truly!

However, I can see your point. I just really hope that there is a different solution to this, than to implement some rewards which players like me never-ever will be able to obtain.

This 100%. With that said, I’ve only played the first two levels sa/so and sniper so far, and they were incredibly easy and quick compared to most of the levels in the first 2 seasons. I think these levels were designed to be less of a challenge on that front.

With that said, Berlin seems like it’s gonna be pretty tricky to pull off, so I’m excited for that.

I absolutly cannot stand the “if you play for achievements then youre not playing right” stance
Please be quiet
Nobody is telling YOU how to enjoy your game. Everybody loves freedom until its something they cant relate to.
PATHETIC !

Who are you talking to, no one said that

Ok, I thought my game was bugged or something.

It is odd that IOI removed this though.

I consider myself to be a skilled player. I can complete any of the maps in master difficulty, but I would never choose to do so. Personally, I am really pleased to see the master difficulty challenges removed.

One of the reasons many players play Hitman is to be Hitman; call it immersion if you will. You are a genetically enhanced, highly trained assassin. That doesn’t mean you have god-like powers and you still need to plan carefully, especially if you value finishing a mission with a five star silent assassin rating. But in master difficulty mode, it’s like you are ordinary and every NPC on the map has super powers.

Of course, if you enjoy the “ultimate” challenge, then it’s good that the mode is available, but for many of us it is simply not enjoyable.

As for those saying it has made the game too easy, that is a choice. You are choosing to play a game which you expect to be challenging by deliberately to make the difficulty easy. Putting challenges in the game for master difficulty mode forces players to play the game in a way that they do not enjoy. Their choice has been removed.

Finally, as has already been said, a game is supposed to have a fun factor, but accessibility also has to be considered. Allowing players to choose the difficulty level to experience the game and feel that they have successfully met the challenges the game presents is important. Not everyone is able to play games to the same level for a variety of reasons.

I actually like the tougher map designs usually. Always kind of feels too easy on professional when a screwdriver is always right next to the thing you need a screwdriver for.

However I hate the save limitation in master mode so I only ever used it for the challenges.

I must honestly say that I don’t miss the extra challenge in master mode to get the game to 100%. Master mode would be much better without the limited save count, which makes it an annoying grind at times.
I enjoy playing Master Mode myself because footsteps are heard when running, muffled firearms are heard more easily, distractions and peekaboo are much more sensitive. NPC’s detect you faster depending on your movement speed. This makes SASO runs particularly challenging and fun for me.
However, I agree that Hitman 3 lacks a reward for completing the master mode.
There should have at least been a “Master” suit and briefcase unlockable like in Hitman 2.

The only difference I found in master difficulty that made any difference was the one save you got.

If you enjoyed the thrill of master SASO from the old games, you can do it again in H3. Just because it doesn’t have a meaningless challenge attached to it shouldn’t stop you if that’s what you found to be the most fun

I disagree. You can always choose not to go for these challenges and leave them unticked.
If every challenge that exists forces one or other player to play in a way they don’t like, then it should follow that we should abolish all challenges. You can’t please everyone and you’ll always annoy someone.
I for example strongly dislike the Chameleon challenge, where you have to scour maps for some disguises that have no discernable use for mission strategies. I probably won’t be the only one. Should it be deleted? And you can go ove ralle the challenges that exist and basically follow the same reasoning. But I like that there’s a reward for it anyway, on the one hand because it rewards players who enjoy seeing 47 in the outfit of a cyclist, on the other because it provides me with the carrot to try that playstyle for myself.
In the Master challenges, and their related rewards, I also find the thing of “bragging rights” quite appealing. They’re still called “challenges” and “achievements” for a reason. The value of the All-Black Classic Suit was in great part due to the difficulty in obtaining it. Wearing it thus gave a sense of fulfilment. I know, petty, silly, but one of the reasons we play games. If all achievements are basically handed out to a common denominator that is the casual player, you take something away from those wanting to delve into the game further.
I think giving everyone the feeling they can easily “100%” a game should be elss important than to give people a reward for completing truly challenging feats within a game.
I’m no speedrunner for instance, but I would not mind challenges related to finishing mission under a certain time. It’s not because you can’t or don’t want to obtain a challenge that it should not exist. I would even dare to say: quite on the contrary.
There’s also a paradox in calling the challenges “meaningless” on the one hand, but insisting that everyone should get a chance to achieve all challenges on the other.

THIS! Saving is the thing that ruins it for me. The additional challenge is great, but the lack of saving in such a sandboxy game with huge missions breaks the fun

I never save. Disabling autosave is the very first thing I did. Carried over that habit ever since the first game in the series.

Some people like the tension of having to start over, and the repetition of doing it all again and again until you get one part of it right. Look at Dark Souls! However I am just not at all one of those people. As a PC gamer most of the games I’ve played since I was a kid playing Wolfenstein and King’s Quest had save anywhere. It’s just not something I’m willing to go without unless absolutely forced to by a game I like too much to pass on.

I did do the master mode classic challenges in Hitman 2, even for the silly special assignments (serpent one was MADDENING) but I’d never opt into limited saving for a challenge that didn’t require it.
