I’ve seen that before, and I’ve only ever completed the main objective when leaving

Maybe someone wrote this already.

  1. I don’t really like that you can’t exit the game at any time while you’re in the safehouse. Not everyone can afford to spend so much time playing the game. It turns out that you are just attached to it until you pass.

  2. It is unfair that after fail they take away all items from the cases, even if you did not take anything with you. It hurts.

  3. And of course, a very long rise of mastery levels. Still, it would be better if we could unlock areas of the house much faster.

And I still don’t really understand how it works. I failed a contract in the second mission with the second syndicate and the whole campaign was reset. It seemed to me that the campaign failed only if you failed the showdown :')

And of course, sometimes it selects such NPC as targets that I have no idea how to kill them. They have a short way and are always among people. It is very, very long and difficult. While sometimes it is very easy. So my ass is on fire, thanks IOI.

I don’t really mind that the Mastery levels are going slow. This mode needs to last long. But we need to be paid substantially more Mercer imo (maybe a base-payment per contract). That would make the mode feel less dry. Seeing as you lose your equipment from time to time, progression in the weapons department wouldn’t be too quick with more payment either.

We also need a laptop in the safehouse for acquiring certain weapons. Not that it should replace the dealers on the maps entirely, but it would definitely add a lot to the experience and be a cool part of the planning.

I don’t like the idea of getting attacked at the Safehouse, but it would be nice to have housemates, at least temporarily. While 47 did tell Olivia to cut off contact, it would be great.

How about this:
A mission that comes up unexpectedly, in which you will have to maybe ‘save’ one of these friends (e.g. Olivia is trapped in Chongqing, you have to rescue her). Rescuing the friend unlocks the ability to call them to the Safehouse. Paying them a certain amount of =M= could unlock stuff like weapon drops, camera hacks for the next mission.

While they’re at the Safehouse, they might be found randomly around the inside or outside. I’d see Olivia as maybe pacing around the underground screens or sitting on the couch in the living room, hacking stuff from a laptop.

Smith could be inspecting the weapons you unlocked, perhaps giving you tips when using the gun range, and with enough =M= could hide a weapon of your choice in the next map you choose.

It would be a fun twist, and I hope we might get something like this.

Fair enough, not everyone would like the idea of guests, but it could be tweaked. Rescue the friend, give them a call to hack cameras or drop weapons, and that’s it.

Yes, I just discovered this. I left Paris for last tonight with only 2 targets and it wound up being 9 suspects as well. :grimacing:

Also I can definitely confirm that the game is stealing my money. Last night I quit from the safehouse with 401M:


And when I loaded it up today I only had 200M:

This is definitely something that needs to be fixed before full release. :neutral_face:

Yeah. This bug makes this challenge ridiculous.

In order to lose 500 Merces, you have to have at least 1000. In order to get up to 1000 you have to be able to gain more than 500 Merces in a single sitting. (500 or less means you’ll never reach 1000).

How so? I haven’t lost any merces from quitting the game, so I’ve kept all that I’ve earned. Though granted I haven’t used the in-game exit feature, but rather the X or altf4, since the in-game exit is hidden in a tab.

Then you’re fine. I’m talking about people experiencing the bug where the game halves their money when they leave the game.

Oh, I’ve told a lot of people to get the hell away from me and everything that’s linked to me, do you think they complied or that it stayed that way forever?
47 also revisits places where he killed certain people, and those people are alive and minding their business again, y’know, Elusive Targets and such, so I think that would be one of the lesser problems. I also didn’t choose “could” without a reason.
It’s just that roaming the safehouse seems to become boring sooner or later, since it’s only 47 all by himself. He IS a lone wolf and all he can actually “handle” is a pet rabbit or a pet bird, I know that, there’s also his statement that “people can be annoying”. That’s also one of the reasons why he left Victoria with the nuns, she’d just be in his way.

Still, there will be the day on which you put the last safehouse accessory, tell yourself “now it’s perfect”, and what then? Just play contract after contract and forget about the safehouse? Don’t tell me you’ll admire every single corner whenever you start up the game for the next few years.
Side missions that happen in the safehouse not only add some action, they also make the safehouse more “useful”. It doesn’t have to be the way I described my idea, it can also just be arbitrary chores or phone calls or video briefings on the TV or Diana telling you to check the news, because they’re reporting about your latest showdowns.
I’ve played a lot of games in which you have your own house or farm or whatever you can form/change/decorate at your will. They or at least those parts of them get boring when you’re done, unless things happen.

My Big Review!!

Let’s hope I don’t forget to mention anything.


The Good

  • Challenges have a lot of meaning when they appear in your safehouse. I loved getting a challenge and then running upstairs to check out my newly decorated shelf! If the final version has 121 challenges like the 10min footage I can’t wait to grind for them all. The challenges themselves are a fun long-term list as well, and although it’s the littlest thing, reading the challenge names “Oyasumi” (50 Hokkaido kills) and “Eat the Rich” (50 New York kills) definitely made me smile.
  • The showdowns have been executed wonderfully. The suspects bring great use to unloved areas of the maps, with both of my final showdown targets being killed in rooms I haven’t gotten a kill on anyone in for some time. Narrowing down the suspects is extremely fun, and I see no issue in 12-suspect hunts, considering almost all suspects wander into suit-accessible areas at some point. The lookouts only evacuate a portion of the map which I think is absolutely lovely (as you can tell by that comment the lookout didn’t evacuate my second 12-suspect leader, rather 4 suspects in the Hokkaido resort). I’m enjoying playing my own way as well, eliminating the assassins and ko+hiding the lookouts regardless of the non-targetkillness of the former, and I’m happy to see it’s a challenge in itself to kill assassins. I also really appreciate their guns, a lovely way to get back on the ladder if a beloved pistol is lost.
  • The Syndicate types are very unique and interesting with their bonus objectives. The 8 all reward unique playstyles and I think it’s good that a campaign can hypothetically be 4 of the same type, as it could be very lucrative for someone with plenty of guns for the weapons traffickers or a versatile style for the sick games.
  • The Safehouse is very beautiful, but to be specific about something, I love the music selection. H2016 has a wonderful soundtrack, and the “exotic” playlist really takes you around the world with Ritorna a me in one instance and the Colorado radio tunes in another. A hilarious mishmash but both nice tunes.
  • In terms of frequency, the suppliers provide a good balance of item rarity. I only had a few legendary item appearances (the legendary duck feels like an exception, given the fact it is a tool) and I’m happy with that. I also love the little touches, such as how the suppliers idle when someone is close and they will not enforce any of your actions. It’s helped me get a kill at one point, thanks Parisian supplier.
  • The sheer concept of this mode also makes me jump up and down in excitement and I think this really does it justice overall. Even if you did no economy balancing and just patched the bugs I’d play this mode near-daily come January.

The Bad

  • Oh dear, losing all the tools in the Safehouse doesn’t seem right. I understand the need to keep the supply crates relevant for players with all 3 briefcases full but that’s better incentivised with the payout objectives suggesting accidents, poison or explosives, not punished by removing everything.
  • I can personally live with the “bread and butters” being pre-existing targets, but not all targets I’ve had are conventionally valid for a contract mode style. If a target demands emetic devices to isolate then I suggest they not be included as potential targets.
  • I would also argue there should be a base payout rather than it completely relying on the payout objectives, especially when the objectives conflict and restrict the payout to begin with.
  • Finally, I think that unsilenced weaponry isn’t as valuable as these suppliers are making them out to be. Unsilenced rifles have gone for as high as 200M and yet there’s little use for most except the one for the challenge (unless that one is actually silenced too, I don’t fully remember given the Kashmirian’s one is silenced)

The Bugly

  • Although this is presumably only relevant for the CTT as with 100 levels it’ll get unlocked anyways, the bedroom is claimed to be unlocked at mastery level 24. This is not the case in the actual safehouse. The image is a bit small but I think the door says it’s unlocked mastery level 31?

  • I’ll mention it here as well as this bug’s a bit scary and the more it’s mentioned the better chance it has at getting patched. The 50% loss of Merces on leaving the game seems very concerning and I hope it can be patched as a priority.
  • “Do not blow your disguise” seems to fail on exit despite it being met. “Do not get recorded” will fail immediately if seen legally on camera despite the fact the description says the player is free to destroy the evidence. The second might be a wording issue but the first feels like a bug.
  • I’ll also reiterate that there’s a couple spelling issues. I don’t appear to have gotten a screenshot of any but I remember disguise is spelt “desguise” in the alerted territory pop-up tip and there’s a html issue on one of the payout objective descriptions.
  • Attempting to change the decor for a kitchen painting can cause a strange issue which prevents you from interacting with any other decoration/use instinct until you exit the safehouse. It also put me in first person when I got near the tools and prestige objectives, which was weird.

Disclaimer: I don’t have the test but I have watched a a lot of streams.

Some observations:.

  • More variation between syndicates. E.g. Assassin syndicate use snipers. Militia syndicates are in plainsight but armoured like the icon/ carry firearms etc

  • A lot of unfair starts in the Hokkaido morgue with assassins

  • My number 1: Choose weather/Time of day/change in flight menu
    Once you have this, all of freelancer will feel fresh each time! And you can prepare your appropriate outfit in advance

After 32 hours of play, unlocking 25th level of Mastery and failing so many times I want to share me thoughts and feedback. I apologize in advance for grammar mistakes, I am not good at English.

What I love:

  • DETAILS
    I love how there is so many details made by passion and true love to project. I’m a personaly very dedicated if comes to design a project and I can regognise people who do that same. I see your passion putted not only for Freelancer mode but game it self, all trese tiny details, eastereegs, connection within whole franchise. I love it. I will support you always thanks for that!

  • CINEMATICS, MUSIC AND ATMOSPHERE
    All these cinematics, music and cutscenes durning loading screens is just awesome! Silence, no bullshit, no talks, just 47 and hes mission. Well made and perectly fit to game atmosphere. I love it!

  • SAFEHOUSE DESIGN
    Whole architect and design of Safehouse. Scandinavian minialism combined with hi tech. Level design is awesome and I see a lot of love from developers. I like that there is few patterns to choose.

  • NO SILENT ASSASSIN
    I love that there no pressure on “Silent Assassin” or “Non-target kills” missions. Now I can use all my equipment and play whatever I want. Some times as a Street Hiredgun who hit with non silencer pistol and run, sometimes as a sniper who mark hes target and execucte contract from a distance - another day as a bomberman seting a C4 under table. No Silent Assassin bullsht. I’m playing this series from 22 years with over 1k hours in WoA, and I’m sick of "Silent Assassin"pressure. Now I feel that play what ever I want. Thank you for that!

  • CAREER MODE
    Career mode with real money from contracts, paying for equipement. Is something what I always dreamed of and is even better than I expected! I’m super glad and thankful for that!

  • SYNDICATES
    Themed campaigns with dedicated objectives (Big Pharma with poison kills etc) so I can choose what kind of style I want to play and how exectute assinations. It’s great approach!

  • TRACK LEADERS
    Unknown ID of leaders which must be recognised and tracked. It’s executed great and add deeper meaning to gameplay and add more challenging experience.

  • TOOLS ORGANISE
    I like how Tools are organised. Everything is catalogued - Explosives, Tools and Poisons in separate containers. There is no space for duplicates or reskins etc.

  • SHOOTING RANGE
    At last!

What is good:

  • FREELANCER CONCEPT
    I Think it’s a great expansion for this game and bring Hitman gameplay on next level. That how Hitman’s future should looks like! Where is the risk there is a reward and thats very engaging. Just please balance everything that progress should be a pleasure not a frustration. I belive you can :slight_smile:

  • SAFEHOUSE MASTERY
    Decorations and Safehouse unlocks which allow to build your own Hideout. I didn’t expect that but I’m suprised how is well executed.

  • BARTENDER MECHANICS
    Bartender mechanics from H2 is implemented to H1 locations (serving drinks or food), you should add this to normal locations in campaign.

  • SYNDICATE LEADERS ROUTES
    Routes for leaders are very unpredictable and very long around whole map. It’s great idea and bring a new challenge to gameplay.

  • NO PLACE FOR THE WICKED
    …all that trash unlocked during campaign like ruby dildos, cookies etc… There is no place for such a silly items in Hitman equipment. I get the joke, but please be serious this time.

  • STOCK MARKET
    I love that there is different ways of using your safehouse, sock market is one of them. There should be more of that like a online black market shop to buy items. One thing I don’t like that I’m not sure how stock market works, its pure randomness?

  • ARANGE A MEETING
    It’s one of good new features that add more possibilities to assassination

  • NO CRASH
    After more than +30 hours spend in game I didn’t have a single crash. EDIT: After one hour when I wrote that I got my first crash XD Durning pickup one of loot boxes in Rangan Tower in Security Room (there was problem with sync in steam). Good thing that I didn’t lost progres or merces, just mission in Mumbai didn’t happened.

What is bad:

  • PROGRESSION
    I love how many we got unlocks etc, but I don’t feel that I progress durning campaign. Each time i loose many items, mercs but afterall - all these new unlocks don’t bring any value for progression. I know it should be hard, but overtime we should have more posibilities. And we don’t have any, its just esthetics. We should have some kind of shop bewteen mission to buy missing equipment or something that allow us to gain more money or weapons.

  • PRESTIGES OBJECTIVES
    I don’t like that is totaly random. There should be always avaiable three Prestiges Objectives like: “Silent Assassin”, “Suit only” and “Time limit” (for speedruners) + one or two random objectives dedicated for specyfic mission (like no silencer guns etc). Some of prestigues objectives don’t meet with possibilities. You need to kill a target with epic melee weapon, but you don’t have one. You need open safe with explosion, but there isn’t any safe, or you need to kill target with Icepick but dealer doesn’t have one etc.

  • RARITY SYSTEM
    There isn’t any pattern in this system or clearny differences between Item level. I see it like a this:
    Common: no additional ability, Rare: +1 perk, Epic: +2 perks, Legendary: +3 perks. For example a common Pistol will have nothing, Rare: +Silencer, Epic: +Silencer +Ammo Piercing, Legendary: +ammo piercing, +extra magazine, +Automatic fire etc.

  • NO PENALTY FOR MASS MURDER
    I love that new freedom and no Silent Assassin pressure. But I think that lack of penalty for killing NPCs will lead to most players will kill everyone who spot them, because why not? I think there should be a penalty for such a act - maybe more enforces when you visit this same location in this same campaign? Or less money as a reward?

  • MELEE WEAPONS ORGANISATION
    It’s a total mess, there is no logic at this at all. Everything looks throwed without sense. There should be a esthetic: Swords near swords, knives in knives etc. Hammer should be in Tools. 47 is a perfectionist but devs are seems not :wink:

  • OBJECTIVES DESCRIPTIONS
    Few objectives are are badly described and I have many times failed because I didn’t know what to do. For example - “Don’t miss a shot” it means that I can’t even shoot a camera, because it will fail the objective!

  • PRESTIGUE OBJECTIVES DETAILS
    No details what to do, especialy with Time trials. You don’t know how many you time will have before you start the mission. You don’t know its time for kill only only or kill and exit. After making a kill there is another time limit - 10 sec after objective is failed.

  • LOOT BOXES WITHIN A MISSION
    They are literally a trash. Contains: Apple, rusty nails, crystal ball, kiwi, ball - seriously? Items should be at least suited to location so that would have any sense (like Napoleon only in Paris, Shuriken only in Hokkaido etc). Most of them are useless.

  • MASTERY GOLD WEAPON UNLOCKS
    They are bad. A Common Rifle with silencer but without silencer, wtf? Please don’t add more trash to game. If you made a new unlock - add someting valuable. We don’t tons of reskins!!

  • CAPACITY COST
    I don’t like that capacity cost depends on weapon rarity. Legendary will take less space than this same rifle Common. It make no sense at all.

  • LOOSING A UNLOCKED WEAPON
    …it will loose permanently, because there isn’t any possibility to gain it a second time. So at end of day - most of players won’t take these weapons in fear of loosing them. This is missed opportunity.

What is WTF?!

  • LOOSE ALL TOOLS
    Tools are essential for every mission and obiectives, it’s very hard to collect them because there isn’t any shop between mission where we could buy them. Loosing whole equipment is a very bad idea, and it’s just unnecessary since they are one time use and need to be restocked anyway. It discourages me to further play.

  • ENFORCERS
    At some point of campaign there is so many enforcers no matter of your outfit that it’s hard to even passing by! Esspecialy in location where there is no room to hide, blend or run. At some point is almost impossible to run alive, because Guards shoot you down instattly. It’s brutal.

  • LOOKOUTS
    They spot you in no time and there is no space for making a act, they alert everyone instantly. There should be some delay to neutralize them and avoid huge problem.

  • NO BASE MISSION PAYMENT
    Because lack of tools and randomness when we gain them, it’s mostly impossible to make a objectives, and without them there isn’t any payment for completing mission. Who’s idea was that?

  • NO SHOP BEFORE MISSION
    Safehouse should have a shop where we could buy tools or weapons, maybe for higher price than smugglers offer, but still - we need that possibility, it’s essential. As the mastery level up, we would have access to better tools. The smuggler should only be support during the mission if we forgot something.

  • TIME LIMIT PRESTIGE OBJECTIVES
    Are you insane? Changeing an outfit every 3 min or complete whole mission in 3 mins? It’s a totaly bullshit. Redesign, tweak it or remove, no one will pick up that nonsense.

  • SOME CHALLANGES
    Eliminate 10.000 Syndicate members, are you Duckin insane?! After 18h of play I got only 47 kills. It will take more that 4000 hours. I’m a dedicated player of Hitman, buy I have life y’know. Have a mercy…

  • BUGS
    There is a lot of bugs with Leaders path (walking behind map), objectives that isn’t counted even if completed, or weird time limits (to short).

Suggestions:

  • BLACK MARKET SHOP
    Please add possibility to buy items and weapons in Safehouse. Depends of player progression overtime - new items will be available based on mastery level. At least add possibility to restock tools. There should be option to buy Comon and Rare items/weapons, but Epic or Legendary should be avaiable as a reward for completing campaign.

  • CAMERA
    Sometimes it’s hard to look for target and try spot hes details having a enfoncers on your back. Especiali if comes to tattos and piercings. I think better idea (and more immersive) 47 would have a Camera with large zoom (8x at least, 4x is too small) to make a photos from distance and then compare in equipment menu instead of Live View in realtime.

  • THREE SLOTS FOR PRESTIGE OBJECTIVES
    Player should have three slots for bonus objectives to choose one from category. First one for Classics (Silent Assassin, Suit only, No spotted), second one for style (Explosion kills, Accident kills, No silencer kills etc) and last one Time Limit for Speed runners (Changing suit, complete mission in time limit, kill every target with X mins deadline etc). So everyone could choose what ever he like.

  • LOOT BOXES
    I know that there is a small chance to get a good weapon from loot boxes within mission but that should be marked on minimap. I don’t like run in whole map to search for boxes. It’s stupid and i’m feeling that i’m wasting my time. If there is a epic or rare loot box - it should be market on map. Common boxes shouldn’t make a noice.

  • SHOTING RANGE
    It’s great addon, but please add UI with statistic for every weapon (Fire rate, fire power, magazine capality etc) so I would know what I’m testing. Also there should be some kind of counter how many bullets I missed (just like in Codename 47!). Please also make shooting range with bigger range so we could test effectivnes of weapons on long range.

  • MERCS
    Instead of 10M, 25M, 30M etc make them as M10.000, M25.000, M50.000 etc. This will much better reflect the cost of such equipment or real assassin salary. having 10 Mercs looks silly :wink: Or is some kind of Crypto? :stuck_out_tongue:

  • ELUSIVE TARGET
    I Hope that Elisive Targets after January 2023 will be part of Freelancer mode as a stand-allone contrast with one opportunity to complete and reward with hudge amount of merces!

  • SAFES
    I like that idea, but putting there only Mercs it’s odd. Safes should have small chance to find a random epic or legendary weapons instead of money. Or investment assets to boost your Stock 3x! Just give there something more that money.

  • WEAPON CONTAINERS
    Please allow to configure weapon containers just like a outfits.

Summary:

@Clemens_IOI Overall I’m hudge excited and can’t stop playing, it’s very addictive mode. Freelancer is better than I imagine and can’t wait to play final version and see what you planning for this mode furthermore. It’s best thing what could happend for Hitman game and thank you for that! I’m not regreat any penny spend for 7 Sins and Deluxe Edition, it was damn worth it to support you. Keep doing fine work!

The suspects are based on how far in the campaign you are, it has nothing to do with the targets, their count is only relevant before the showdown. (4 suspects for showdown 1, 6 for no.2, 9 for no.3 and 12 for no.4… as far as I have seen)

It is organised by rarity… besides tools are loosable after each campaign, so the fact that the hammer is in the glass window is just a design choice (+ the hammer is pretty bad, so if you would have to always buy it again it would suck… like the handyman wrench is already pretty useless, since most maps have a wrench and your garage has one too)

The menu should give you the necessary info on your current objectives, so go there

I would say that is actually a fun think… yeah, not knowing what you are picking up makes it chaotic the first time, but it is pretty hilarious and could make you like a objective you wouldn´t normally consider (Like the first time I tried get disguised it was weird, but I loved it, so much a pick it up most of the time)
Now I do believe that timed trial is a bad prestige objective, but not because of the lack of info, but becuase most of the times there are courieurs and safes on the maps that give more mercs then that objective itself, so it should either get a time buff or a mercs buff (+5 or 10), because right now it is not worth touching

That is fun about them… you never know if mercs, a good item or trash is in it… so you always go for them and feel good when fun stuff is in it… yeah garbage sucks, but it would be too easy without it

Well it does gameplay wise… that is basically like a lot of other games work too, you grind to get the same thing just better, to have more space… if you don´t like it, just pretend it gives you more capacity (in other words another capacity level up)

I mean that is why you can choose your locations… every syndicate gives you the list of maps, so just think while choosing… I can just recommend leaving a big map for the last showdown since it will more reliably spread out the assassins and lookouts

Why ??.. the ecomony is already pretty genererous (I would personaly make it even harder since it is endgame content, but I can see the bad impact on other players enjoyment) and weapons mostly cost more than the amount of mercs you get, so it would be very bad for the game mode and made equiring legendary stuff basically effortless (safe mostly have like 30-40 mercs, so giving out a 200 mercs sniper rifle would be ridiculous)

NO JUST NO… what would be the point of having loot boxing if the map just tells you where the good stuff is… this game mode is about going on a larger campaign that rewards adventuring around the map… if you feel like wasting your time, just open the boxes around you and let the rest be… finishing a campaign is more important than some loot that isn´t even that expensive

Use the supplier… just, please, use the supplier (even tho I could see the point of having a computer in the safehouse where you could order items for 2-3x the normal price from a reasonably big randomized stock everytime)

I love it lol… the timed trial needs to be more worth it, but like get diguised, silent takedown and hide and seek are my absolute favorites (for get disguised the starting outfit counts as a new outfit if you take it back for the first time… just saying)

Finally something I can agree with… some are way to high, but some like scavenger are not high enough (+ “Sometimes Maybe Good. Sometimes Maybe S***” should be renamed to “Throwing For Content” or something, because the current name is offensive to the player… I would feel bad loosing 10 showdowns, but the challenge would just put insult to the injury… I feel like having a name that can make you atleast smile would be nice)

You don´t loose the stuff in your glass windows, so don´t worry about this :slight_smile:

If you don´t wake up right away you can manage, but they should fix it a bit and not only in hokkaido, because I rememeber starting my second last showdown in the Palace garden and a lookout was walking towards me, so if I had waited the whole cutscene I would have been insta blown, which would be very unlucky and unfair (It was hilarious tho)

It could be nice, but they don´t really NEED it… it brings tension a lot of people crave (based on what I read)
