Official: H3 Freelancer Closed Technical Test feedback Thread (CTT)

After completing my first campaign and sleeping over it, two things.

First, a small bug: In the final map there were a LOT of suspects and two of them spawned on the same spot, leaving them glitchy as a weird flickering double NPC.

But now, a follow-up to the losing items stuff I just thought about:

I realized the biggest problem is the outline stash in the safe house, specifically for the tools.
When playing I used many items on the map - if they did not have any rarity and I knew they would be lost after the mission. Great! But whenever I found something I knew will be put in my stash in the safehouse, therefore “completing the safehouse”, I would keep it.
And even IF I would risk it by taking those items with me, many of them are single use - I mean it makes sense, but using a duck once means it’s gone, same with posion, syringes etc. Again, I understand the logic, but the problem are the empty boxes with the outlines.

So…?

So I thought that we need one of three possible solutions.

(1) The (tool) stash has to go. The outlines scream for completion and if that will never happen it is just emotional torture. It is like filling a full circle but the circle will never be completed. So: Give us all the items but they have to be used in te same mission. This way, no more keeper gameplay like mine.
(2) The stash becomes permanent. Once you find a poison vial for eample, you can equip it every time. That would be awesome, but unbalanced and I get why this is not the case.
but
(3) My preferred way! You unlock tools that stay in your safehouse FOR SALE. The stash will unlock items you’ve found a brought with you, so once you found a rubber ducky it will be “available” forver in your stash. However, it still is a single use item and you can buy new ones for Mercers.
Think of it this way: You can’t do this in the heat of a mission, but once you brought a tool back home, 47 has enough time to inspect and recreate / order the same thing again.

→ The third way would keep the single use or lose when failing aspect, but it would also let you complete the safehouse which is a blessing for completionists.

Good morning. Now: Coffee. Then: Freelancer.

I completed the neutralize lookout prestige objective by KO’ing the lookout and stashing him in a closet, it clicked in game at the time, but on end screen I got this

But you can see on merces screen my payout adds up to 50, because the Prestige objective (not even shown on the screen) was complete

Got my first hard crash exiting Miami back to the safehouse. I got the mission completed screen then it immediately crashed to desktop.

In the safehouse, one of the first posters you unlock (the sometimes all you need is a little push one; called Motivational_Poster_M in the scenario), doesn’t stay after reloading the game, and requires you to first skip it then go backwards to get it to appear again.

Oh. That’s actually a good reference. I haven’t played any of the earlier Hitman games. I am not that bothered now that you’ve mentioned it.

Kinda agree with your point but I don’t really find it too out of place. At least you know how long you’re mingling around during your current break in the safehouse. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I just tested it and found out: Mastery unlocked weapons… can be lost. My ornamental gun is gone now. Ouch, I was hoping that you could build a basic gear with those. But no.

Are mission payouts broken? Count with me:
45 M for completing the mission
+
25 M for completing Prestige objective
+
20 M for completing 2 objectives (10 M each)

So the total should be 90 M.

But the final screen said 45 M. And when I returned to the Safehouse only 45 M were added.

What the hell?

I didn´t expect this so I don´t have any screenshots.

I was wondering why is my merces count so low today. Yesterday it was working normally, but I think my game is bugged now and I only get the basic ammount for completing the mission.

The mission payout amount is the total possible payout of all optional objectives combined

Don’t do the objectives then you don’t get the payout

Do do them then… well you got the mission payout

Can’t blame the players for not understanding that. Freelancer 47 completing the main objective for free?

Ah, OK. Sorry, my mistake.

I thought there is a basic reward for completing the mission and the objectives are adding extra.

So I guess I was blind yesterday.

I made the same mistake, they’re not exactly clear about it :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes I also only understood that after reading about that in this forum.

This should be (a) made more clear and (b) maybe changed a bit so that you get, well… paid? For doing your job? The game itself tells you that there are “additional objectives” for “better payout”, but this really does not sound like “you are effectively working for free unless you also kill three guards with a shotgun.”

There is an opportunity for IO here. Give some Merces for the actual contract itself and thereby also make the mode less dry in terms of pay/rewards. It seems it’s not only me who would want the mode to feel more rewarding per contract.

I feel your completionist pain and agree that this would be the preferred solution. At some point, the mastery should unlock 47 access to the black market from the safehouse and allow us to purchase any previously purchased/unlocked weapons and gear. Kinda like the system in Alpha Protocol. That way we wouldn’t suffer from the incomplete wall syndrom and it would be a good incentive to keep earning and spending Merces.

That is not good. I wonder if they respawn after you finish/fail a campaign and start a new one, just like the unsilenced Baller? If not, then it really needs to be addressed, for example by implementing the purchasing system you suggested. Permanently losing mastery-unlocked weapons/gear would make no sense, surely IO have some kind of insurance in place there…

I did it on stream about an hour and a half in. I had actually theorised that that’s what the hospital bed was for when I saw it.

I’d spoiler tag this, but I can’t remember how to.

I think it makes sense that you don’t get merces for completing a mission because you get them for basically everything else - to come away with 0 you’d have to ignore all the objectives, the chests, the safes, the couriers, all the things that make the mode interesting. You still get a free item each time but if you want the good stuff you have to be flexible & take risks.

It’s even worse than that.

I unlocked the level 5 gun after a failed mission and I never even saw the gun, it didn’t appear in my inventory or on the rack.

Edit: nvm it’s actually in the “thematic weapons” and not “handguns” category for some reason

It has to be an “EPIC” rarity SMG for the prestige SMG kills. Press F1 while on a mission to see the full parameters behind the prestige kills. It’s stupid they don’t explain the criteria BEFORE you go on a mission but there it is.
