Me? Defend IO? ho ho ho, you’re new here
But yeah, it was just a guess, no need to get feisty
That aside, I haven’t seen a single tweet from IO since yesterday. Are they SERIOUSLY not working through the launch weekend with this many people completely unable to play the game?
Great, so upon reaching the 2nd mission, i started exploring straight away and wearing as many different disguises as possible to fill up my challenges, then halfway through, everythin resets.
Now im stuck at 7/11 disguises, and 12/22 locations which I cannot seem to overwrite anymore to at least try and start over.
On top of it all, cant finish the mission as i lose connection to the server RIGHT as i exit the mission.
Broken is an understatement.
GET RID OF THIS STUPID ONLINE COMPONENT IN A SINGLE PLAYER GAME PLEASE! It makes no sense and is infuruating.
This is exatly why i had dropped hitman 2 at launch !!
Yes, a lot of people can people on different accounts and profiles which means the server itself is not the main problem
Alright, I guess I should be more constructive and helpful; maybe it’ll help narrow the problem down a bit:
I already got my carryover done on Wednesday (everything is there plus access to all the old content, except for several Mission Stories and the Sniper Assassin Trophies; not sure about Requiem suit) and even played the game all the way to the end. The last time I could log in was Thursday morning (European timezone, I believe one hour ahead of IOI’s timezone). Throughout my playtime I got logged out only once, but could immediately log back in again. Also, the game crashed at one point, but I could get back into it rather quickly.
Since Thursday afternoon I couldn’t log in anymore. So whatever is preventing me from connecting to the servers is something that they screwed up around Thursday noon.
BTW, I have tried to delete my profile data (after uploading it into the cloud, just to be safe), but it didn’t make any difference. So that’s not a fix. No idea why it apparently worked for some people.
Since IO appears radio silent today (from what I can see, since they have not tweeted anything, replied to anyone, updated the FAQ on any troubleshoot problems, etc.) it would seem to me that those of us with the fetching profile issue the earliest they will even begin fixing our problem is Monday.
They only acknowledged the problem existed until late (their time) on Friday, and it would appear they are not working through the weekend to fix these problems, so we could be screwed out of playing until Monday or Tuesday or even longer.
Of course I admit I am not 100% certain they aren’t working through the weekend since I don’t work there and can’t know. So they could be working and just have no updates to give, but I consider myself more of a realist and less optimistic, and feel its more than likely they just aren’t working during the weekend.
I’m calling it now, this could take a couple weeks unfortunately. The same amount of time that they’re trying to get H2 to H3 players who already own it.
It’s better to assume the worst and be relieved when they deliver ahead of expectations. For now, all we can do is forget about it and wait.
This is exactly what mine has done
Hey everyone I made a fresh account as I have found a solution for the PlayStation 4 failed to fetch profile error. If other people are having success with this method could a mod please pin this?
Step 1: Remove your hitman 3 disk if you have a physical copy
Step 2: Go to settings, storage, system storage, saved data, then delete all hitman 3 save files (upload to cloud before if you want to save any of them)
Step 3: Go to settings, storage system storage, applications and then delete hitman 3
Step 4: Shut down your ps4 and then unplug the power supply from the back of your system. This will reset the system cache after about 30 seconds but give it a bit longer to be safe.
Step 5: After reconnecting the power supply, turn the system back on and reinstall the game, wait for any patches to complete.
Step 6: Go to Settings, Account Management, Restore Licenses, this will restore all H1,2, and 3 dlc content licenses.
Step 7: Start Hitman 3, the profile retrieval error should be fixed
Step 8: When closing the game, Go to Options, then Exit to Title Screen. This will ensure there is a proper save and logout as to avoid an additional corruption issue
Step 9: Hope I helped, enjoy HITMANing everyone!
Edit: After about 8 hours I am encountering the failed to fetch configuration error. I am no longer getting the failed to retrieve profile error, but I can no longer connect to the server again.
My internet is literally 1MB a second, so it’s about 60 hours to reinstall… so I might just hold what I got and wait for others with incredible internet to test this further! If it continues to work, then I’ll bite the bullet!
I tried all that the other day and it didn’t work. Seems to be nothing more than a temporary solution to a bigger issue unfortunately. Glad some people are able to get it working at the very least.
It did not work for me at first either after the first uninstall/reinstall or license restoration. For me I think the root of the problem may have been in my system cache. Not sure, but after doing everything in that order I have been able to start levels online, logout, and restart the game and login with no other issues.
The only step there I didn’t do was unplug the console (I did a full shutdown, however). I don’t know if I can be bothered to try all that again but perhaps if a few more people say that it has been successful I’ll try it.
I tried duplicating this effort on PS4 Pro and it did not work.
The only part of this I didn’t do was unplug the PS4 for 30 seconds, since this wasn’t posted until I was already halfway through reinstalling it. But I did restart my PS4.
If other people have success with this method please let me know and I will be willing to reinstall it a third time, this time to include the unplugging stage. I just don’t want to have to reinstall it a third time since that would be using a fifth of my 1TB data cap my ISP limits on just playing this one game.
But at least I have gigabyte internet so it only takes about an hour to reinstall.
I really hope this works for other people. I’m not positive, but from testing/troubleshooting I believe at least part of the root of the problem lies within the ps4 system cache. Doing all the steps in that order including the system cache flush is what finally solved it for me. Side note, I did not re-download any previous cloud saves. I’m leaving the new save files alone.
Okay, I’ll bite and try it out myself. I’ll also be making sure to unplug my PS4 for a full 10 minutes, because why not?
I’ll report back later.
I am doing it again this time following every step, I unplugged it for over 45 seconds and am reinstalling it now. I’ll update this comment once I am done if it worked or not.
UPDATE:
Did not work. Not even unplugging it for more than 30 seconds helped.
My best guess is @StealthGamerDude may have just gotten lucky and got access, like a few people have reported being able to randomly reconnect after retrying a ton.
So unless IOI directly says to reinstall as part of their fix I won’t be trying to uninstall/reinstall it again since it hasn’t done anything for me twice now.
Yeah why not. Let’s roll. Worst case scenario it doesn’t work for me and I’m no worse off for it.
Nah, the real worst case scenario would be the problem getting fixed one minute after uninstalling the game and then after reinstalling everything again and getting ready to hop into a mission another problem comes up and you lose connection again.
Even if this does work I by no means expect it to be a permanent fix, but if it gets me going for a bit then why not.
