My idea is this: in Hitman there’s no multiple profile slots like in a game like idk Jak and Daxter or GTA, but ppl like me and some speedrunners like starting from scratch to experience the progression system again or other such things. the progression is usually tied to your online profile, but some people might want to keep their ET suits and profile level without throwing them away with the full profile reset that IO offers. My proposal is this:
In the main menu, there will be an option in the menu called “Progression”, maybe in the account screen, then there will be two options: “Reset Mastery” and “Reset Challenges”, then when you click on Mastery it shows every location in the game and gives you the option to reset them back to level one. With “Reset Challenges” it gives a screen showing every mission instead, from story to PZ0 to Special Assignments to Bonus missions to Seasonal Content, clicking those resets every challenge specific to that mission. ETs, Global Challenges, Featured Contracts, etc. can’t be reset - maybe Escalations might, but i think this would give a safe way to reset the progression and start a new game without throwing away the exclusive time-limited items
When I replay campaign, I tend to limit my Loadout to ICA19, fibre wire, lockpick or coins (unless going for one of the new challenges).
Featured Contracts, I use a few favourites unless kill requirements need me to bring something.
I am not sure I would use this, as resetting specific locations would remove the unlocks I may need for another mode. However, there is enough redundancy in the gear that only a handful of items would be affected.
A way to expand the replayability of the main mission side of the game, to bring it at par to Freelancer would be great indeed. And this does it.
There is so much work, and development to the main mission we don’t replay and see again.
I posted about it on the Whishlist two weeks ago.
So you can add me on wishing it.
Even though I think a “simple” reset/prestige system is effective, good, but could be greater if it’s a full on game mode.
But managed expectation and all that
It would still be an honest good thing for the game, and the players.
